I love POSH! When I was in the USCGAux, I looked into POSH. Here's what I discovered. Very interesting. "The usual story is that it stands for Port Out, Starboard Home. Passengers on big ocean liners would change cabins from one side of the ship to the other to avoid the hot sun on outward and return journeys - but only those rich enough could afford to do this. Posh with a capital P-O-S-H, Posh!" Great Video!!!

I have got a smaller older less ornate Dalvey compass that I've used on several occasions on Dartmoor and Bodmin moor to great effect on clear days. But when the weather claggs in, I'm back to my baseplate compass for greater accuracy.

In the US the pocket watch companies off old (Waltham, Wittnauer, etc) would offer compasses in hunter cases.

M73 is way more costly than a Dalvey - but you get what you pay for. You got a better compass.

Where do you buy your maps? And what type of maps should I use for walking in the countryside.

I would suggest a map with scales or around 1:24,000 or 1:25,000 are the best for walking in the hills. I get me maps from the UK Ordinance Survey shop.ordnancesurvey.co.uk/maps I have also bought a few US Topo maps from here as they will post to the UK ngmdb.usgs.gov/topoview/viewer/#4/39.98/-100.06 It depends where you live as to where you buy from
