I am NC with my family now. They all have addictions. My sister is an alcoholic, my mother is addicted to shopping, my father has gone from drugs to alcohol to sugar and caffeine and back to alcohol. Addictive personalities will become addicted to ANYTHING. I kicked my binge drinking over 15 years ago and my parents kept trying to get me to drink. I am prescribed cannabis for pain bc I don't want opioids and am on a benzo for C-PTSD and have never abused either. Bc I got therapy.

A highlight of my RuneScape childhood is when a few clan mates and I actually found a real skull glitch that lasted around 2 months. We earned around 1-2b each and before that.. we all had maybe 10-20m banks. It was like hitting the lottery, and it took awhile to be patched. We found it on accident too, so like nobody was doing it. It was a legit glitch too, we could get you to skull after we would attack you FIRST.

Man, I lucked out growing up during the gaming revolution. My folks had an Amiga 500, and get this - my brother and I were playing the original Leisure Suit Larry back in '88. I was 13! Bad parenting? Hell no, it was awesome. We weren't clueless kids; we had to ace an 'adult' trivia test just to play the game. Talk about a different era. Don't get me wrong, my parents weren't pushovers. They'd set me straight real quick if I got mouthy. When they said "Go outside!", you bet your ass I was out the door. Different times, you know? I've got to say, though, I'm hoping gaming takes a turn soon. These last five years have been... off. It's like the industry's lost its bearings, and the fun factor's taken a nosedive. Here's hoping we can recapture some of that old-school magic.

Well said. I’m a 90s kid and it was similar for me as well. I remember playing Baldurs Gate Dark Alliance for hours and then heading outside to skate and play other sports with friends. Had a blast doing both and there were never any issues. It’s a game and I think that people being overly sensitive is the problem. Any normal kid that sees a game just wants to play to have fun. Adults can sometimes overcomplicate things and turn it into something it’s not.

What news karen wants you to believe: Violent video games train serial killers, games ruin children, games deprave children via pixelated sex scenes etc etc. What actually happens: (Some) video games are dangerous to kids and parents because kids get lured into the ingame shops and steal their dad's credit card for it. I disagree about TV having the same effect as staring at a wall. Flashy pictures do stimulate the brain, but I agree 100% about everything else. When the next world war happens, who are they going to want drafted? Anyone can get addicted to anything. Gaming isn't really dangerous. Yes kids and adults can be addicted to video games. But they can't hurt them. When i was growing up. I was bullied constantly, so video games was a coping mechanism. They helped me feel calm and happy. To get away from real life just for a little while. Watching this is just so crazy. As a huge gamer still. This triggers me. When i become a parent. I'll never stop my kids playing video games. Is these crazy parents trying to put video game npcs in jail??
