By tracing the genetic history of a family back, we can find the identity of the person who left either DNA behind in some form or else was found as a Doe. If this guy is indeed your missing great grandpa then genetic genealogy can confirm it. I would contact DNA Doe about this case. If the government decides to extract a genetic sample then by comparing alleles from your great-grandpa’s descendants to the alleles of the John Doe they can determine his identity.

Bedford is my home town. As a child, my dentist's practice in Adelaide Square (ie the building itself) was attached to the outside wall of Bedford prison facing onto Bromham Rd. The dentist was deaf as a post & always shouted, thus scared the b'jesus out of a 5yr old me... add that to the perception of the murderers on the other side of the wall have given me lifelong avoidance of dentists! Although I am sure at the age of 50, dentists aren't all bad! 😎

I am 78 and an invalid. Being bedridden around the clock, these tales of yesteryear are so interesting that I can't wait to hear more and more, and the stories help me to pass the time in my lonely life. Thank you so much for putting in the effort to bring these stories to the present and keeping me entertained.

My great grandmother always believed it was my great grandfather due to a description of the victim in the daily sketch at the time.Unfortunately it was quite a scandal at the time and her brothers wouldn’t let her go forward to identify the body. We were in touch with Leicester University but unfortunately at the time they were only testing mitrocondrial DNA and this wasn’t passed onto my Gran and so my mum and aunts were not able to be tested at the time

I am retired from active US military service ‘69-’91. The military pension he had should have been left in place, for his head injury if nothing else. As others nave noted head injuries have long germ effects. I believe that his this head injury had an impact on his chronic impulsive behavior. Thank you for another outstanding “Brief Case”. Do take care, out there.

I've noticed that a lot of British World War soldiers were very hesitant to kill their German adversaries. In his youth, Hitler literally used puppy dog eyes on a British soldier who had him at gunpoint, and the Brit couldn't bring himself to shoot him. I think this is largely because Germany's leadership openly espoused British imperial values, and thought themselves better colonialists than the British. So on a gut level, I think a lot of Brits deferred to them.

WOW!!! What a Mesmerizing case; I had to pee so badly but didn't go because I was so Engrossed in this video I didn't want to even pause it long enough to relieve myself!!! I stumbled upon the Perfect channel for me; NOT only is this an AMAZING channel, TRULY GREAT stuff, it isn't long and drawn out, which would be bad for me due to memory and concentration issues resulting from having been in 3 comas. WONDERFUL content in each video I watched!!!
