ABOUT THE WMSCOG
The World Mission Society Church Of God is a South Korean religious organization whose behaviors and coercive methods fit the BITE model developed by cult expert Steve Hassan, which describes cults’ specific methods to recruit and maintain control over people. The WMSCOG has a reported 7,500 churches, 3.3 million members, and a presence in 175 countries and every year thousands of people are recruited into this group with promises of heaven and threats of doomsday.
The WMSCOG is known for their belief that their deceased leader Ahnsahnghong was second coming Christ as well as their belief in the existence of a "God the Mother," a second, female deity whom they believe to be a woman named Zhang Gil Jah, who is still alive in South Korea today.
Many former WMSCOG members have spoken out about the emotional and spiritual harm they endured during their years in the organization and have alleged that the WMSCOG demanded excessive amounts of their time and money, used fear and manipulation to keep them from researching on the internet, caused significant division and devastation to their relationships with family and friends, subjected many of them to harmful and sometimes abusive, arranged marriages, controlled and fabricated information to fit their personal agenda and control members, and consistently used threats of hell and doomsday to keep them devoted to the organization's cause.
The WMSCOG is a litigious organization and has filed multi-million dollar lawsuits against some former members like Michele Colón, who went online to speak about her negative experiences.

@@Dmenjivar22It would be great to get more people to leave the WMSCOG. But going into a branch in order to do it would honestly be difficult. They keep a close eye on any new person that attends and everything you do and say will be reported back to the leaders. If they get a sense you’re there for the wrong reasons, they will ask you to leave and most likely contact other branches nearby about you. Personally, I don’t think it’s worth your time. But spreading awareness about this cult is definitely worth it. The fact that you were approached and you were able to find this documentary before they tried to indoctrinate you is exactly what we’re trying to accomplish.

Today i was introduced to the name of ahnsanghong. I was told it was the new name that God would give us to address him as. Through the name Ahnsanghong we are to pray to the Father. And that information alone threw me for a loop, my head started spinning and i felt such a disruption in my core. I couldnt deny that the things they were saying can be found in scrupture. But then they took that and gave me information that sounded so strange. I got in my car, raced home, and was asking God if what i learned was really true because i was so confused. It happened to me last Friday. A guy approached me. He spoke about the Second Coming and Last Judgement not being the same thing. So I entertained him a while. We exchanged numbers and I went to one of their "Bible" studies today. Their theology made somewhat sense about the Sabbath and Passover, until they spoke about this "Christ" from South Korea and that he is the Second Coming Christ. I never ran so fast from that meeting.

They came up to me and my husband, we decided to go into Bible study. Once they mentioned that Christ came a second time already in 1948 and he was born in South Korea which was the new name of the Holy Spirit. The person didn’t wanna tell us the name so we did some research about the church and we ended up finding all these videos & ended up finding out that they believe in mother god? & also that Christ was ansonghong? They kept saying we weren’t ready for worship and that at the end we were gonna have to make a choice , we didn’t get why but We stopped going to the church once we found out the truth. My sister is currently in this cult. She has multiple mental illnesses that require psychiatric care every few years. Since joining this group 2years ago she has been readmitted to psychiatric care and has been in there for 6 months (her longest). Members know about her illness and still said she needs to be baptised straight away (this is not consent). She bought a veil and some of the books. She currently chooses not to eat, and continues to give her disability pension to the church.

I will help you understand. Cults use truth to deceive people into believing the mass of lies they are hiding. I was raised as a Christian, but the Bible studies were immersive and expansive. Also they talk about things that I already knew were true (Christmas isn’t in the Bible etc that I thought the church was hypocritical for). So anyway, when I started going I wasn’t allowed to attend the sermons (they don’t say that at the very beginning , they just say “let’s study instead”) and they have very benign Bible studies with some truth in it which make you trust them. They treat you very, VERY, nice, like the best family ever, and seem so godly and devoted to preaching and everything…. But then…. You start being exposed to the stuff that’s more extreme. But you have to understand they have groomed you for weeks at a time before this. You have eaten meals with them, they picked me up because I didn’t have a car, talked to me about friend and boy troubles, and then as I asked questions later in my studies because I wanted to learn more, they said well keep the sabbath and I can learn. I worked Saturday night as a server. They knew this. But the way they put it was like I wasn’t putting god first and didn’t love god. So, I quit my job. And learned more. And by that point (this had been studies “spoon fed” and manipulation over a period of months) I was so discombobulated. I had been planning to move to another state to change schools, and they kept telling me over and over I would miss the Passover and I would never be protected by danger or disaster. I really didn’t want to stop my plans, but by the time the Passover came (a little over half a year since I first started attending thinking it was a real church) I was hooked. And I stayed. And that’s when things get real. That’s when the manipulation goes next level and you start learning more and more of things that they carefully kept secret and ….its like that metaphor of the frog boiling slowly. And it just builds and then it becomes blatantly abusive but you feel like you feel like it’s your fault because they’ve broken you as a person and replaced you with a ….i don’t even know what to call it, but they’ve told you so many times at that point you are a sinner and ought to suffer and suffer for the grave sin against god. So as they are publicly yelling and shaming you, you just think…what have I done, I’ll never make it to heaven, what am I going to do? I have to work harder. And it just…. Eventually at a certain point you realize how trapped you are. It dawns on you. But you don’t know what to do. After almost ten years I left. I was thinking of leaving for time before that. I ended up with a severe mental breakdown after Illness and abuse from not being able to perform as I used to. So I was out for the first time. And I looked online. And the rest is history. Cult therapy. And finally sharing my experience. Hope that helps.

I've interacted with a few of the Members myself here in Georgia. Im a Messianic Jew and ive had a few Bible studies with the lead members. They butcher the Tanakh and the Brit Hadasha. They also butcher the Holy Feast Days like Sukkot and Passover, etc. When I tried showing them the Hebrew and Greek, and explaining how to actually follow the Torah, and the Prerequisites to be the messiah (specifically the second coming) they cut me off.

@@asp9291 Even within Judaism today Messiah is supposed to show up Riding on a Donkey into Jerusalem (Zech 9:9) which Yeshua did. Messiah is also supposed to come on the clouds of heaven (Daniel 9:9). Yeshua will do this in his second coming (Revelation 1:7). It's NOT an idiom for reincarnation or coming back in the Flesh, nobody else in all of history ever interpreted the verse this way. The Messiah needs to be from Judah and Ephraim and Levi which Yeshua is. The Messiah needs to reestablish the temple. We honor the day with a Passover seder (meal with liturgy) and try to follow as close as we can. It's a day of Remembrance. We look forward to the Second Exodus.

I’ve mindlessly chanted amen throughout my whole life while attending wmscog because of the social pressures and manipulation of doctrine and self identity. However, for once I say a genuine amen to this video. This church uses members like tissues and spits them out as soon as they question the doctrine. They only focus on the numbers of baptisms and are willing to manipulate members into fearing hell in every way to evangelize. Thank you so much gls and former members for telling our stories and traumas. I continue to struggle with my family as my parents become disillusioned by their fake promises. I was approached from a life long friend, a former pastor. I was almost convinced I figured if this person who I have known since I was 9(I am now 60) is apart of thisit had to be OK. Once I learned of the woman in Korea (God mother)I had to say no. I went to 1 Bible study and was going to attend on a sabbath, but thank God my daughter showed me a link to this station, which made me do more research. I wish it was a way to reach my friend.

(It’s almost always ended in a fight) Anything that is hearsay he’s not willing to listen to… I think the only way to do it is to prove through scripture that the doctrine is false…. that is why it’s been difficult because I’m not well versed in scriptures and he is… so when I mention something from one of your videos that is based in scripture he has about 5 other things to come back with… presumably tactics taught at those “Bible studies”

I visited them yesterday when a kind woman approached me on the street. They masked it as a Korean cultural event. I was given gifts, food and wearing traditional dresses until suddenly the atmosphere became very pressuring and hours of 6 women teaching me their word of God. They asked multiple times to Baptize me. I said no all those times. I told them I am tired and want a break ( since I was told it is going to be Korean games, food and fun culture night ) and they did not listen. When I was asking questions they picked up bibles and started reading me bible verses and getting more heated. I repeatedly told them I am tired until at the end I got up and said this is not okay, I told you many times how I feel about this and I want to go home. The atmosphere was almost as if I did a terrible decision and the looks on their faces. They tried to make me stay to watch a music concert. Everyone was there because of me and they performed just for me. I also told them that my dearly beloved great aunt had past today and they used it as a reason to join. And they were pressuring that with no delay I should be baptized or bad things happen. The God I believe in loves all and I am a young woman in her 20s. I used to have a bad self esteem and lost in life and I am so scared for young girls who are trying to get Recruited and if they are able to say no. Because it was really a lot of pressuring. Wish I and We could help the people there. The members looked terrified and disturbed. :(

A woman approached me at Walmart about a christian women’s bible study, she would not tell me the name of the church just that it was of Christian faith. I ended up not going because I found that sketchy. And then this past weekend she sent me a link to an online study so I googled the name of the organization and it was this one. Yo! Same thing happened to me and my husband on separate occasions in Walmart!!! The girls didn’t tell me the name of their church, but they were seriously high pressure about attending their “Bible” study. I felt like they must be getting paid to bring people in. 😅 The guy straight up told my husband the name of this organization. He even gave my husband a website to look at, and told enough that my husband was able to refute the teaching with scripture. He picked the wrong guy to attempt to persuade, because my husband went to Bible college and is an ordained minister.

I had a similar experience. They came up to me and invited me to a sabbath. Same like you, the vibe was off. A lady came up to me and asked me to go to 1 Corinthians 11:6 and read it. It was about wearing a head covering while worshipping. But the funny thing was, I already had a turban on my head haha. But whatever I put the veil on anyway. But it really got weird once they started praising Anh songhong and saying earthly mother. I wanted to scream and run out. In my head, I said when this is over, I’m never coming back again. Then at the end they all recited a prayer in a Korean, people of all ethnicities, so I tried to take a picture of the prayer and the girl who invited me immediately snatched it from my hand and said you can’t do that. It was just a dark and weird feeling all the way around. She tried texting me a few times but I told her sorry, I’m not and will not continue going as it didn’t resonate with me or God’s word.

Hi all, I’ve associated with the WMSCOG for about 8 months and feel stuck because i was led into it by friends. I struggle tremendously with their teachings and feel as if I’ll be ridiculed by friends if I leave. When I give any pushback with not attending worship service, sabbath day service, study, etc. it is met with endless scriptures about people who are not of God cannot receive eternal life. I just joined this group about a month ago and I been through two “studies”. I joined this because I have a cousin who kept telling me I need to be saved correctly. Like the lady said in the video I don’t want to go to hell lol so let me learn the “truth” . A couple things stood out to me , that felt wrong. One is their leader is supposedly Christ in person once again . My first study was late at night and at the end he adamantly told me I should get baptized right then and there! The baptism was kinda strange too tbh. They sung this song while I was getting the water poured on me & it sounded like another language which threw me off lol the way everyone was dressed looked robotic . (Suit and tie) I been avoiding these studies lately because I felt in my spirit that I was following something sinister . This video helped tremendously, now I need to research some more !

I tried out the church in my local Stuart and Lake Worth Beach, FL areas but I come to realize I don’t have the patience to stay there long term and I am accustomed to living the secular life and I had beef with some of the members I didn’t get along with in the past. Sometimes they say “anyone can come keep it.” Other times they won’t let homosexuals come to keep it or anyone who has committed sexual immorality. In 2023, they called/texted many times to come to keep the second passover. This year, they invited me to come to keep it I am not sure if I am going to be allowed to keep the 1st one because I only tithed for 2 months, Sept & October last year. So, you're right when you say it changes every year.

Had 2 of this memebers stop me on my way to work today. I stopped to listen cause I don’t mind people sharing their faiths with me. Before they noticed me they were slowly walking around and one lately looked a little nervous while the other looked more confident. What I think made them notice me was probably my cross necklace. I still have the pamphlet. On the front it says “What’s is the seal of God” and inside it talks about great disaster and how to get Gods seal. As soon as I looked through it I knew something was up and now I found this video. As I watch it honestly makes me feel sad for those two ladies. I hope that they find God truely and not be stuck in this terrible situation. And I thank God for making me see what was going on.

The church i was going to here in wichita, for bible study was a cult. They have them all around the world and they believe this asian man was jesus and they believe in God the mother too (who is also an asian woman), but the thing that got me was, she would always push that in order to be a member of the church i had to be baptized by them even though i told her i was already baptized, and would try to push it heavily after a while. The baptism tub was so small and it wasn’t in the sanctuary like behind where the pastor preaches, it was literally a small little “bathroom” that was a tiny tub in the basement, The woman and men did separate bible studies (never in the same room) we went to a separate small room in a basement the first few times and sometimes go upstairs depending on what rooms were available. (just the two of us and sometimes my sister when she came) it was crazy. I always remembered I wanted to visit a Saturday when they held services but something kept telling me “not today” i kind of wish i had so i can see if it was the same as what the guy in the netflix series “dancing for the devil” was about. But i prayed to God and told him that if this church wasn’t of him to remove me and i never heard from that lady again. And ive never seen the girls that came to us in walmart ever again. I found peace in the Church of God. Thanks to Father and Mother. Everything im listening to here is far from what i learn and taught in the World Mission Society Church of God. My father studied the bible alot and i heard from him when i was young what we are practising now in our church at that time is a changed law and the only one can teach us the truth is the Second Coming Christ and he must appear again as a man so when the Church of God approached me and study the bible, 100% I believed this is the truth I was waiting for. The purpose of our faith is to go to heaven. Im sorry for your expectations. You listened to members instead of listening to God. The bible is talking about coming disasters so how can we be saved? Do yous believe the bible? Even i was taught about all of these disasters before the Church of God but no one teach any solution to be saved they just say believe in Jesus. Im sorry everyone I believe the World Mission Society has the perfect truth.

Praying for your family, my daughter is also deep into this cult, and there is nothing I can do or say to get her to see their lies. She lives with me but I really miss her. It sounds crazy but if you have a child or loved one in this cult, you understand their personalities change so much!!!

I was in this Cult and the amount of hours that we were basically forced to study, was so crucial that I couldn’t ever have any time to rest it was unbearable. I know the pastor very well. He was very nice to me always, but I did see some thing maliciously in him and his family, especially the way he would look at certain people and degrade them on their clothing was a red flag to me .

No, you’re wrong. Spending time with family has always been encouraged at the church. Its not the church talking about heaven and hell, its the teaching of Jesus in the Bible and you haven't quoted any scripture. I have felt peace beyond understanding keeping the Sabbath day and for the first time in my life more love than Ive ever experienced for 9 years consistently. Mother only preaches love and doing good deeds, but all you've done is complain and not said one good thing or spoken about heaven. What you are saying is the teachings of Jesus and Christianity is a cult because thats what we follow - the true teachings of Jesus. Im truly sorry that individuals in positions of power said terrible hurtful things, but that goes against the teaching of the WMSCOG. We are taught in every sermon to practice love, kindness, respect and to walk as Jesus did serving others. Its the best church i have ever attended and im proud to be a member of the World Mission Society Church of God.

Because you have little understanding how the bible is to be read/studied. Yup, ignorance of scripture is ignorance of Jesus Christ - the Word of God. And this is why you got sucked into this abyss of darkness, sad to say. And you don't even realise it. That's how deep the deception. So how? So, pray to Jesus. Ask Him if he is ahnsnaghong that korean dude? Ask Jesus if you should also worship an aged woman in korea (zhang), his so-called "bride". Let Him answer you. Keep praying and asking. Just because YOU personally have always been encouraged to spend time with your family doesn’t mean that’s the case for everyone else’s experience and is not fair for you to even say. I had to ask permission during my entire membership. I was NOT encouraged. You are entitled to your opinion and feelings of “peace” about this organization but do not falsify information in your quest to defend them. We are NOT always taught about love, kindness, and respect to walk as Jesus did to serve others. The WMSCOG is constantly judging and DISRESPECTING people of other religions and quick to harshly criticize anyone who thinks even slightly different from the WMSCOG way of thought. In my experience, The WMSCOG is quick to criticize and cut off this “love and kindness” you mention because it’s entirely conditional. When a member leaves the church, they are shunned and referred to as “dead” and “better off if they had never been born.” Tell me what about that is Christ like? And additionally, when any ounce of criticism is delivered back to them, they cry “slander.” I don’t remember Jesus acting like this at all in the Bible. But do enlighten me on any verses that say otherwise.

I personally was never encouraged to spend time with my family. I was actually discouraged. I was also told my family was being used by satan when they wanted me to spend time with them on a Saturday or if I wanted to attend a wedding or a funeral. I was told I would spiritually die if I attended those events. I know this was not only my experience but the experience of many current and former members. The teachings from the Bible are twisted to fit the WMSCOG agenda. If you were allowed to look online and research the information you’ve been given (not from the provided evidence book) you would see the many discrepancies. As ex members we are sharing our experience and the WMSCOG is accusing us of being slanderers and even calling us demon possessed. The WMSCOG fits all the qualifications of being a cult.
