The Elezar hospital quest is probably my favorite quest in Genshin, EVER. The story telling methods with how the map is structured is heavily underrated. Its horrifying to uncover it all and that really ominous cutscene when you finally open the cave to see the light again. Makes you imagine that this is what the people was hoping for.

That's exactly why there's so much about injustice that couldn't be pursued by the court; because Fontaine's main theme is 'justice', they had to implement darker parts about injustice, just like the dark side of Mondstadt's history is about slavery under the aristocracy while that nations theme is 'freedom'. Ultimately those themes are the ideals of their respective archons, smth they strive for

Stories in the long term can definitely have an general lighthearted even cutesy undertone and still be dark and/or scary sometimes. Genshin Impact doesn't have to be right in your face to make you cry or feel scared or both. I'm not given up on the potential of Natlan's dreariness and horrors of war just yet.

i think my favorite dark story in genshin is the entirety of the narzzisenkreuz questline. the logs in sumeru that narrate suffering and transformation of rene into narzissenkreuz. the brutal battles faught between siblings, which lead to the loss of maryann. the testing of abyssal powers on human test subjects, turning them into horrifying monsters-- especially carter/caterpillar's story. the overall cult vibes througgout the series was just so amazing. although not *as* dark, the chenyu vale quest about guizhengs three adepti, and how they fought to protect the human civilizations at the cost of their mortal lives was also beautiful. I LOVE fujin and lingyuan's relationship, and the the implied angsty love between them.

People keep talking about Natlan designs being too colorful. I would advise these peopleto lookup Mesoamericans fashion. They kept sacrificing people, and fought their ritialistic wars in incredibly colorful costumes, with body paints, tons of jewelry, flower crowns, and decorated with feathers. XD Great video, the last few days I saw a lots opinion about Genshin being childish. Tho leving Ruu's story out was a crime. That story is pure horror. T_T

Yes I agree thar Mesoameric fashion is colorful, but that's all that genshin's version has in common with it. No South American patterns, just a bunch of squares(I mean there are squares but they are much more stylized than the ones shown in genshin), genshin made it look too cartoony, and they made it way to modernized. Like sneakers and jackets with zippers??? What??? No jewelry, no flower crowns, no feathers. I'm really disappointed with the Natlan designs so far because there are absolutely BEAUTIFUL South American and North African clothing, so it feels like such a wasted opportunity. Did they even research the fashion from those cultures? I don't get it

Genshin has this folktale vibes that differentiate it from hsr or maybe other hoyo games. Both have sad story, but the gritting part of some gi quest are... we can't change the fate that already set. What neuvillete said about us somewhat accurate, we're here to witness every story of teyvat. The despair comes from the fact that it only have one ending, no matter how much we avoid it (Tadhla the girl from tanit tribe, or fatui guy who kidnap sumeru's kid). Another thing, some character have interesting viewpoint that maybe difficult to comprehend to nowadays people. How focalor view sacrifice, how aranara view life and death, or ruu/tadhla's loyalty toward their tribe. Genshin's feels like a bedtime stories that sometimes have a happy ending, and other times... well that's life, everything happens for a reason :) *flashback to everyone dies*

That's what I like about genshin, their folktales and cultural depiction. And they are not shy about exposing the dark side of humanities either. I think genshin is too complex to be released nowadays since kids now lacks critical thinking even basic reading comprehension. That's why hsr is more marketable to them

I remember accidentally stumbling upon the Leroy world quest after finishing up my daily commissions. I thought it was just gonna be some average fetch quest, but then Athos and Autumn showed up I was so concerned with every interaction with them as the quest progressed. Tbh I was convinced they weren't his family at all, and were planning to kill him to take his wealth, but I was genuinely surprised that it was not the case at all. When the truth came out, I was so happy that we were given the choice to leave him to die because fuck that guy. It made me understand Athos' aggression, and Autumn truly deserved better. That other quest in the Desert Hospital was also disturbing af, reaching the end of that man's writings on the wall to find a shovel outside the cave gave me chills. I still have that exact spot on my map to come back to. I LOVE THE UNSUSPECTING DARK WORLD QUESTSS RAHH

If you want to cover all the dark horrors hidden in the game, you will need 5 more videos this long. Child slave trafficking seems to be rather common in Fontaine, and the...good doctor was very busy all over Teyvat with his experiments. You do not have to dig deap to find horror in this game that is for sure.

I think the story of both the Raiden shoguns in pretty dark. Especially Ei's part in some trailer where it seems like at some point, Ei had to fight and kill her closest friends. Until none of them were left. The "Cataclysm" event was possibly the largest and most important event in all of Teyvat. Great video Aster, I got to hear tales I was too lazy to discover on my own account. Although I have to say, even though Genshin Impact has it's dark times, if it was rated M for mature instead of T for teen, the devs could be a lot more in your face about how dark and serious all of what Traveler was doing and seeing on their journey through Teyvat. And knowledge like that really makes what we do have seem mediocre in comparison.

Genshin is an exercise in duality, the bright colors create a fun and enjoyable atmosphere for players, but it also is a couch for the colorful history of humanity wrapped up in a pretty package. Packages as you unwrap them may not always hold the prettiest or best things despite the colorful paper and oft time people are disappointed in the contents. Genshin embodies these well.

I hate that people ignore what Genshin truely is because it’s Chinese, or anime styled, or the fandom is cringe and bad (it is in many situations). Seriously, it may not be for everyone but people shoukdn’t deny what it is, it is a story. A story filled with sadness, horror, and just depressing shit. I felt that after finishing the Sumeru Archon Quest (which was a few months ago since I started playing in January this year) that there was more than just Khanri’ah that was sad. Then the Wanderer interlude, my oh my, that shit hurt me personally. Then Caribert, then Fontaine… then Bedtime story. Genshin is just very depressing in a way similar to OMORI at some points (in case you don’t know what OMORI is, it is an indie psychological horror focused on mental health, escapism, grief, guilt, and some other topics. If you can handle its contents do look into the game!), I love that about Genshin. It seems so happy and silly and lovely! Then the further you get into it it gets more sad.

The story of abuse of Lyney and Lynette got me confused, I haven't got the time to go back, but I remember in one of the dialogues were Lyney explained their story to the traveler Lynette said something that got me confused, that made the "situation" flip like Lynette was the one that saved Lyney and not Lyney saving Lynette because the timeline didn't add up, am I miss remembering??

The only thing I could think of with that situation is when they were already Fatui. I remember Lyney mentioning the two of them running from a chase and something happened that made Lynette need to save her brother, and that was also the time when she got her vision first. Because in the archon quest explanation, I think it's clearly mentioned that lyney and lynette both were jesters for a rich guy, then lynette was sold off for probably child sex. Lyney ran away to find lynette, and then arlechinno already saved her and recruited them. I don't want to be claiming you're misremembering as the 1st reply. You're mixing up Lynette's trafficking experience with her vision story where she dragged an unconscious Lyney after he got hurt protecting her. One is when they first met Father, the other is when they were already Fatui.
