I am so sorry, but this is a straw man (I am not defending the haters). S7 ended on a cliffhanger and I was dying to know what happened to the hands of time just because it was interesting to see what would happen, only to axe the plot line for NO REASON other then Ninjago Movie pandering, mind you I welcomed the new designs but relegating the hands of time to a single side episode on KZbin that makes plot holes in their powers is kinda sad and must make those plotwholes so s8 can make sense, and like I welcomed it at first. (I forgave this) And I am sorry but even before the crystallised came and ruined even the things I liked about characters like Harumi and Lord Garmadon, these characters were never well written and I cannot help but to see that people are overhyping them and calling them top 1 and being like, WAAAHHHH??? Like back in my day it was Morro fans mainly which made sense bro was and is amazing and very well written, people call him childish but like, that is the point he has a childish motive so of course he is that way it makes sense whilst it makes no sense that after her parents are murdered by Pythor’s actions she focuses on Lloyd, and that just makes no sense. And like ok, I get it this is technically not the same Garmadon (but like also yea and that in itself is kinda dumb), Garmadon just coming back as though S3/4 never happened , or like they did but like it’s not relevant???? is not earnt in the slightest, and like if the whole point was he has no humanity left fine I’ll forgive that, but like then he does even though that wasn’t resurrected so S4 Garmadon is still there, like it’s just Ninjago movie pandering and I don’t like it, and s10, like the villain was just the overlord except no and like the thing with Garmadon and the tornado of creation was a wee wild, and I am not the biggest fan, and then he is just; there. And even though the Harumi arc is followed up very well with Akita in the ice chapter (I think), Crystalised ruined that too. I am sorry but like that is just how I feel I personally back in s5 (the peak of the show) and even like back from then was in love with every single hero and villain, all were great that is why they did Day of the Departed, Morro is so popular in fact they are literally bringing him back. S6 even was good but there are issues in particular Jay and Nya and I guess I gave s7 a pass as after all they didn’t do anything offensive or jarring like s6 and they gave us more about Wu and Garmadon’s past (yes there was a time when the era was cool and interesting and the two not telling the ninja stuff was not a running gag yet) which made it more interesting and we wanted to learn more about that and the elemental masters from then. But this is just how I feel, god I sound old and I mean no hate to you or anyone I just want y’all to know these complaints are out there

Dragons Rising is a fully thought out and complete story that has a beginning and an end. The seasons are no longer themed, but rather incorporate different themes (DRS2) or make some thing new entirely (DRS1). Dragons Rising has saved the series and I am more than grateful for this

@@NerdyBrix That's your subjective opinion. Season 11 was okay, I really liked the fire chapter. The ice chapter is not very gud imo. Season 12 was.. okay but it felt like it was rushed and it was supposed to be a Jay season but we only got that at like.. the last minute. Season 13 was really good, no questions asked. Season 14 is also really dang good. The only season that is actually bad imo is season 15. But overall, the quality has stayed the same, and the good FAR outweigh the bad. And dragons rising blew most other seasons out of the water in terms of storytelling, animation, characters and so much more.

I'm not an extremist with my takes on Ninjago's new seasons, but you could probably consider me a OG fan (I started like when season 5 of the first show came out). And yes, I do dislike a majority of the changes but I do have reason. like how wildfyre just became kai's new girlfriend. WHAT ABOUT SKYLAR. I get the show needs changes to stay fresh, but they keep throwing out old characters. they never even talk about them, or show remorse. I loved the season where they were depressed cus Nya basically died. that season they showed they cared.

I remember when the SDCC preview for SOG released, and the first thing that came to my mind was believing that Lloyd had a brother. I didn’t think too much about the designs, or Lloyd. I was taking the title literally. 4:13 I feel like Angry Birds has been feeling corporate as well. Most modern games are just generic games and almost all the time, Red, Chuck, Bomb, Minion Pig, and the Hatchlings are probably the only characters in the games/shows at this point. Long gone are the days where Bubbles or The Blues would get prominent roles.

Something I see a lot from those Ninjago Nostalgia instagram accounts is how they’ll say how ‘Peak Season 2’ was and how it’s DR is trash, the only thing is that while saying S2 is far better than DR they’ll almost NEVER show any of the filler content. It’s either stuff on the Dark Island or the finale episode. Like I get ppl have their own opinions but saying DR is a bad show because ‘it’s not like 2014 ninjago’ is stupid. Also the amount of fans that hate the idea of Cole being gay is really dumb. Like Ninjago isn’t a romance show, like you barely see canon couples like Jay and Nya do any kind romantic thing cus it’s not the focus of the show. I feel like if the writers were going to have Cole and Geo be a couple in the show it’d likely only be mentioned a few times because get this, it’s not the focus of the show. It’s also annoying how many fans try to use Vania as an excuse to be homophobic, like almost constantly I’m seeing comments of ‘Cole can’t be gay he’s suppose to be with Vania’ even tho it’s been confirmed by Doc Wyatt that they’re just friends. But ppl ignore that and it honestly sucks cus Vania is an amazing side character but a portion of the community treats Vania as a way to ‘make Cole straight again’. Also (srry if this a tad long) the amount of fans that will trash on the new DR intro ‘we rise’ purely because it isn’t the weekend whip is ridiculous. I get music is subjective to opinion but most of the time these fans only dislike the new intro because they miss the weekend whip. It’s not because they don’t like the lyrics, beat, style it’s just ‘oh it’s not the weekend whip’. And then there’s still the fans complaining abt Kai not being the green ninja over 13 years later.

Right, they say season 2 was peak but proceed to ignore all the filler. Dark Island was barely half the season, and the first half of season 2 was pretty boring if I'm being honest. Only Dark Island and forward is when it gets really good. But earlier than that, the only interesting thing was Lloyd aging up.

I love the way you adress problems that some ninjago "fans" have with newer installments of the series. This tendency to make everything negative and complain about anything new is unfortunately so popular, that when good friend of mine, who only watched some seasons as a kid, started asking me about current plot simply because she was curious about it, I felt surprised. I’ll have a few things to confess I was one of the people that didn’t like hands of time, hated the ninjago movie, and when they announced the changes just dropped the show. I had watched the show from the age of 4 until 11 , 2011-2017. I accepted it wasn’t for me and then a little thing called the pandemic happened and decided to get all nostalgic for things I had watched and KZbinrs I watched. I pretended and acted like they changed when really they only got better and I had just grown out of it. However after watching this video and getting “spoiled” from what’s happened in the last 6 years I will give it a chance and put aside my blind nostalgia. You’ve gotten a new subscriber.

i absolutely agree with so much of this-i grew up with ninjago, and after season two, i just stopped keeping up with it. around five years ago, i got caught up until sons of garmadon. i thought the new style of the environments and the biker gang was super cool-until i saw the new ninja designs and got totally turned off of it. i stopped there and didn't think i'd ever come back. actually, it was because of your "catch up on ninjago lore loser" video that i did, in fact, catch up on ninjago. i watched EIGHT seasons of ninjago in two weeks and got absolutely nothing else done so thanks for that. but yeah! nostalgia factor is a huge thing for ninjago, i've grown up a bit more from even five years ago and can recognize the necessity of the design change. i have my own fair share of opinions on the seasons since the original two, good and bad, but i can appreciate that they always keep trying something new, even if it is just to sell more lego sets. looking back now, i'm in the middle of rewatching the first season, there are definitely things that haven't aged well, and i'm so glad for the direction dragons rising is heading in. for the first time i'm getting truly involved with the fandom and having a great time! also oh my god that rap at the end made me wheeze laugh

I just prefer seeing the OG ninja in action, I think they bounce well of each other, play the antagonists felt a bit stronger previously, and I really liked the characterization of ninjago as a location

10:25 Honestly, this right here is a nice lesson. I hadn't watched Ninjago since probably 2017, I was 12 at the time. I didn't pick any Ninjago content at the time and only learned that it had 10 seasons from my friend who still watched it. Now that I'm 18 and scared to grow up I decided to finish the Oni trilogy then watch Dragons Rising (didn't watch S11-15 cuz of time) now I watch DR with a calmer mood, not always looking left and right for leaks, not always trying to anticipate everything just kind of relaxing. It makes it more enjoyable, and gives you the good kind of nostalgia. Reminding me of a time where I rushed from school to go home just watch an episode without thinking about getting a job or going to Uni. Ninjago for me went from an adventure show to a comfort show, which I think is a good transition to have for most people that grew up with the show.

I have loved Ninjago for a long time. I started watching it back when The Masters of Spinjitzu was coming out. All my friends watched it and we loved it together. I LOVE Dragons Rising so much and I feel like if Ninjago wanted to keep going they made the right kind of reboot. I love the new characters, Sora is awesome and she gives off Sabine from Star Wars Rebels vibes. Wyldfyre and Kai have a wonderful dynamic. I can't wait to see what they do with Aaron. Obviously the show is not perfect. I wish Zane wasn't sidelined so much and I miss P.I.X.A.L and all the other characters we don't see anymore. But I love Ninjago and I am proud to be a Ninjago fan.

As an og ninjago Fan, im still around and still obsessed to this day, and I personally like to rewatch the old season (which is probably why I haven’t finished DR season 1 but whatever I’ll get to that) I adore every single piece of content they pump out, from the legos to the seasons (well minus a couple of special seasons like skybound and hands of time *dreadful.*) And I like the direction ninjago has changed, I think when ninjago really started to try and get more lore heavy and sort of start this big story line leading up to DR was s5 and honestly it makes sense, absolute peak season, but not the point, “old ninjago” at this point doesn’t exist because ninjago has been trying to establish the storyline since forever, because most will consider seasons 1-5 “old” but then get mad when someone talks about the “new” storyline that has actually been developed for years. Idk I’m rambling but whatever

I feel like the movie tried to show how generic the main characters looked up until season 7. In the movie we see a character that looks like premovie Cole, the same haircut etc, we also see one with Zane’s hair in black. I think that was on purpose to show how generic the old designs were, like they could be anyone and not the main characters of the show.

As someone who has followed the series since the pilots came out, I agree with a lot of what you're saying here. Nostalgia can bring out positives and negatives in people. A few things threw me off when the show first took a new direction too, so I get that it could have been jarring and taken some time for some people to get used to. But eventually, Sons of Garmadon ended up being one of my favorite seasons. It was a breath of fresh air, and I feel similarly about Dragon's Rising too. It's okay if people don't feel the same, but it bugs me when people get mad at other fans for continuing to enjoy the show or when they feel differently about the older/newer seasons. Also, you ate with that ending 😂

I fully admit that I am an old Ninjago fan, I watch the first two seasons and completely abandoned the third when it came out. Mostly because I was afraid that they had ruined the show that I loved, a fear that was the fault of the love triangle, may it burn in hell. Everyone knows of a show that got revived and was never the same afterward, Young Justice is a prime example, two good seasons then a raging dumpster fire. I like many other left Ninjago behind and got into something else. As you can probably guess from my comments on this video, I eventually got back into Ninjago. Long story short the world ended. It was the middle of covid, and I heard through the grapevine that Ninjago as still running and was coming up on its 14th season. Me having just finished my 2nd watch though of the Clone Wars and deciding that I had nothing better to do that to watch the entirety of Ninjago. While I do think the newer season did ruin some of the stuff that I loved about the old seasons, they added so much that I do love that I consider getting back into Ninjago one of the smartest choices of my life. And dear God I am so happy that I got back in before The Meme.

This comment is late, but I still wanted to say a lot. I honestly feel that all of the changes that happened to the series were for the better. Having new ideas can have a big potential for great stories. Even if the one idea doesn't fully work, you can still make it better next time. The fact Ninjago is still good after all this year's say's something about the quality of the writing. There are shows that are truly gone for too long and lost their plot, but Ninjago isn't one of them.

6:32 similar to how Ninjago first rebooted itself. Pokemon XYZ was trying to be more storied and shonen battle series like the post-hands of time seasons, Sun and Moon tried to go for a more comedic approach with way better animation for the fightscenes like the beginning of the WildBrain era, and Journeys was meant to be a celebrating of the series' history and wrap up to it all (except Pokémon's ending was less messy than crystalized). what's great is after Pokemon Journeys they went with a completely different direction in the next pokemon anime. Pokemon horizons has a brand new cast of characters, the main character isn't ash, there's a proper overarching story and mystery that isn't just watering down whatever the latest game's story was, etc. kinda like how hte Dragons Rising era has two brand new main characters to follow the story from

I agree with all you said except for the comment about the post-reboot seasons lacking direction. things got a little out of hand with the constant tone shifts but I still think they balanced this out with the story. Zane's death prompted the tournament, which prompted Morro's escape, which prompted the death of Djinnjago. I get the point you made about the old seasons "sucking" and I agree improvements had to be made but the cause and effect structure still kept ninjago feeling like a cohesive story imo. Even still, people who havent watched the show since 2013 and say it should have ended have no business sharing their opinions.

I will say, I was someone who was put off by the designs as much as the next person. I wasn’t a fan of the movie so seeing the movie designs replace the designs I had gotten to know for 6 years felt off. Now I’m more comfortable with the designs (except Lloyd’s green eyes, Jays inconsistent hair color, Nya’s hair being P.I.X.A.L’s hair, and Zane’s creepy human looking face) and I’m intending to rewatch and continue the show. I ended up writing a long comment. TLDR; for reasons I took a few breaks from Ninjago, but the show has always been there when I came back and I hope it runs as long as they have good stories to tell. I will always be nostalgic for the pilot episodes and first two seasons of Ninjago since my brother and I watched every episode since the show started together as they aired. However, funnily enough, our parents stopped getting cable before season 3 aired. So for me, those first seasons just hold some special memories for me since we would hypothesize what would happen in the next episodes and then play with our Ninjago legos. Well, after season 2, my brother and I thought the show ended, since again, we didn't have cable. But 3 years later, while the ghost season was airing, I found out that the show was still ongoing and couldn't be happier. I ended up binging all the episodes I missed on KZbin (back before TV episodes got taken down quickly from copyright) and waited in anticipation for every new episode. I admit that I did find the Jaya love triangle situation to be annoying because I liked both of those characters and didn't like how they were diminished for that (Cole is excluded since he did nothing wrong), that didn't ruin it for me. And I also really enjoyed Skybound, a season that I've seen a lot of people to say is one of the worst (don't know if that's still true). I do admit that I stopped watching partway through the Hands of Time since I found it to be boring. So, it wasn't until after I graduated high school, 4 years after I dropped the show, that I found out that it was still airing. I felt nostalgic for it and decided to once again rewatch everything and catch up on what I missed, and partly regretted not enduring through Hands of Time for Sons of Garmadon. For me, I had no issues with the redesigns. Actually, my brother, although he hasn't watched the show since we were kids, also said that he thought the movie designs looked okay. Anyways, Ninjago has really been the first time I ever really engaged with fandom, in a sense. While I never have published fanfiction, I used to write it and show it to my brother when I was 8 before I learned this is something people find embarrassing. Funnily enough, one of the stories I wrote had the same general premise of a season 2 episode (not exactly the same, but enough where I felt like I predicted it lol). I even did fan art and would regularly quote the show. And we had the pilot episodes and the first two seasons on DVD, so they were the ones we would constantly rewatch. It's because of how much time I spent with that early era that even now I have moments where I wish the show could have the same vibe as back then. But that being said, there's moments in the later seasons that I really enjoyed that makes me glad that the show was allowed to continue. And currently, I haven't watched any episodes that were released after 2021 since I went through a period where I just shut down for a bit and didn't go back when I was normal again. But well, I heard that Dragons Rising is good and I'm planning on rewatching the show to catch up on what I missed when I have the chance. Well, long comment, don't know why I typed all this but whatever.

And it’s not that I disagree with their opinions, I still think that Ninjago during like S4-S9(minus Hands of Time ofc) was Ninjago at its best but I can still give the new stuff a chance and find things about it to enjoy. And if you don’t like it for its quality that’s entirely valid but What’s annoying is that people are refusing to do that and instead just complain about how things have changed when Ninjago has been around so long that it’s inevitable

So, let me preface this by saying I've been following Ninjago since its inception in 2011, gone through all the eras of the show and have seen that side of the community but i've never interacted with it personally. The show for me had it's highs and lows, and while I like Dragons Rising better than the older seasons, I can't help but feel nostalgic for them. Not in a bad way just because that's part of my childhood and thats what i grew up on. I could've watched Chima, or Nexo Knights but yet I didn't. I sticked to Ninjago because I really love the show and outside of maybe Breaking Bad, it will always be my comfort show. Most of the older seasons I've not rewatched in well years now, but I could still tell what happens in them because the show is that good at capturing your attention. But I do not rewatch them simply because they do not look as good as newer seasons do, and outside of maybe Possession that I'd consider one of the best seasons of the show, most I find to be pretty mid to say the least. (talking about Season 1 - 7) Dragons Rising really opened up new possibilities for the show to explore (especially after how god awful Crystalized was), and I find the idea of year long story telling for a show better than what was previously offered in the other seasons, maybe except the Oni Trilogy. Dragons Rising to me, is a far better show than Masters of Spinjitzu ever was, all the characters are compelling and while yeah, you can argue it kinda does the same stuff for the villain factions (dropping the ones we have to introduce new conflict each season), it is done better than MoS ever did, because each season of the original show had one particular story to focus on. You're way more invested into all the characters and what they're after (I am SO excited for Dragons Rising Season 3, especially with the Arin and Ras sideplot !!) Has the show changed? Of course it did. Merging the 16 realms into one was probably the coolest idea they could've given to us after the disaster trainwreck of the Crystalized ending. It did call for a reformating of the entire structure of how Ninjago told it's stories, but seeing some takes on the internet about how "old designs are better" and "they should've never greenlit Dragons Rising" or some other wild ones, like THE 7 SEASONS of the show are still available to watch, but otherwise, if you don't like it, then don't watch it. idk it's that simple lol so yeah that's gonna conclude my rant about how I feel about ninjago xD

As an OG fan I didn't mind any of the redesigns (and the movie) and I haven't seen Dragons Rising, but I don't mind the idea of Cole being gay. And it kinda makes sense too if you think back to the Jay, Cole, Nya love triangle ark, and how Cole acted in that.
