Well done, thank you. I am convinced that he suffered trauma to the brain after his skull injuries in Paris and in London and then in Africa. My father was a Hemingway buff and said how he went downhill fast after the airplane crashes in Africa. Mary Hemingway's book called "How It Was" is a pretty good document of his decline. She was getting fed up with him and was preparing to leave him and live in New York.

Great video on a subject near and dear to me personally. My brother was a Cuba resident journalist who wrote for the Havana Herald and had befriended Hemmingway while he lived in Cuba. Thank you for a great video.

Ha! Movable Feast! I like that reference. I think it’s appropo! And clever! Binged on Hemingways book/films recently in my personal revenge to weirdo peeps in our country banning books. Including many university level authors like Hemingway, Whitman, and a man from my area, Steinbeck who lived and wrote about Salinas, Califas, near me in Los Gatos next to San Jose in Silicon Valley, Califas. Especially enjoyed The Sun Also Rises. I started watching the film without prior knowledge of content. Was surprised and happy that after beginning of film (expats in Paris) but then went on to the writers trip to Spain, the country of my fathers birth. Then went on and included historical customs and such from bullfights: matador tossing beret to prettiest girl in audience and she tossing him a rose. And the music and movements of the corrida. My father who went back to Spain for visits several times after coming to the states, actually, as a tourist, ran with the bulls in Pamplona! Ha! Ole May 24, 2022 Frances Blasquez Perren Mil gracias por the film.

You're one of the very few highly-developed "Masters of Matter" (INTJs) I've seen. That's a very rare, and generally misunderstood archetype. You always seek the underlying meaning and root causes of things. It's interesting to see how you're delving into the psyche of certain historical human figures. The hidden motives behind their actions is indeed something yet to be revealed by people such as yourself. I'm thoroughly impressed. Keep up the good work, Vladislav!

Detaljan a opet jako zanimljiv uradak našeg virtuoza . Po završetku videa očekivao sam da je urednik bio netko s preko 35 godina televizijskog iskustva a ne netko s 35 godina života. Dvije riječi : mlad i perspektivan. Očekujem uskoro novi video ! Lp

Today it is recognized that he had bipolar disorder and depression. People with bipolar are not easy to live with (my friend and also my step-father are diagnozed with it), there are like 2 different people in one person. Mary didn't have an easy life with him. He wrote a letter of instructions for his last wife to give half of his estate to Jack, 1/4 to Patrick and only $1,000 to his youngest, Gregory. It sounds very unfair, but the letter was only recovered recently. Mary claimed that she didn't see it even though it was mentioned in his will. Maybe she did find it,, but found it quite embarrassing and unfair or she didn't want to fulfil it, the instructions weren't written in his will, so she may have taken liberties. Not many people know that for a while, due to his many accidents, he was impotent. He couldn't have been happy about that seeing himself as the macho type.

Wonderful footage and great work for the die-hard fans of Hemingway!! ~ Hemingway was a sick, weary man with three failed marriages behind him who looked older than his years. Maybe buying a house in Ketchum Idaho, was a last effort to recover his carefree, glory days? For a Brilliant writer, he sure didnt think straight ☹️😟

Thank you Tots Mini, thanks for the support. It took us almost a half a year to finish this episode and we are glad that the Hemingway fans love it. Like all of us, he was a deeply complex person, had his own struggles but tried to push himself to do what he loved the most. His home in Havana is a must-visit pilgrimage for die-hard fans.

I have a problem with some of your presented facts: 1). Hemingway did indeed HIDE his depression, at one point registering himself under a false name at the Mayo Clinic, pretending to be treated for Hypertension instead of his deep depression and psychosis. He feared people would think he had “lost his marbles”. 2). According to Hemingway’s son Patrick, his father did NOT “give a damn about the Cuban people”. He simply wanted to escape the big American and European cities and stay close to his love of fishing. If he “loved” anything about the Cubans at all it was his love of their women, bars and nightlife. This is one of the reasons his other wife rented the Finca Vigia so as to get away from all the young prostitutes and alcohol available at near the Hotel Ambos Mundo.

A number of things are not accurate in this video. For example, it was from 1939 that Hemingway lived at Finca Vigía not 1936, and it was with Martha Gellhorn long before Mary. And there are many assumptions and imaginations of the presenter which are simply not true. Anyone who has spent time studying Hemingway would know not to make such general and unsubstantiated claims.
