Brilliant. Simply brilliant. I wish I'd heard and understood your teaching 30 years ago. It would have saved me a lot of pain on many levels. On the other hand, I also believe in a spiritual journey and that whatever I've gone through was meant to happen to support me in my growth. Now I'm older and wiser and not settling for anything less than what you've so beautifully explained. Thank you Rabbi. Shabbat Shalom.

For a few years now, I have been thinking of love as an action, rather than a feeling. When you love someone, you treat them differently than you would anyone else. You are kinder, more generous, you look after that person, you care for them. And this holds true for animals and even inanimate things like your house or the town or city you live in. What good does it do to say you love someone if your actions contradict that, if you routinely abuse or neglect them?

Wow! You hit the nail on the head!!🎯 No wonder my relationships haven’t worked out. I have been focusing on the superficial. “Does he have a good job, is he well educated, etc.” It’s no wonder “love” is elusive in the 21st century. We are all focused on what the other can do for us, when it’s really important for both souls being compatible on the spiritual level with their priority on Hashem. I am going to need to change my dating profile. You should have a show on dating. It’s a huge problem right now and most people have given up on dating. Thank you so much for your brilliance and wisdom!

Condolences to you, also. You'll see her again.

It is best to go with the flow. Trying to define love, hate, anger and many more emotions, events, etc. can only lead to confusion. Just relax. If you love or like something, you know it. If you hate something, you know it. Anger is easy...you feel it and your body instinctively reacts. But what is the trigger of love, hate and all emotions? I leave that to experts. For me...I live each day with God and just let God decide is best for me.

Love is wonderful and a great motivator. Close bonds of different kinds should be known. Mature Agape Love should be attained spiritually. Beyond that is a more universal priority, for life to expand, there has to be more, so we need: existence, life, love, peace, happiness, in that order, and all are attainable simultaneously, but sometimes one or two are missing. Life goes on and we learn!

I believe we obtain that kind of knowledge too late, life is too short, wen wisdom komes, energy is too little, we should live longer so we could apply the knowledge. It's a paradox, when we are young, there's lack of knowledge, but wen knowledge comes, it's too late.. It's kind of sad..

LOL. which is fine she does now kind of emotionally. Sometimes I think that's one dimension of what this life is about. Struggling together and needing one another. Rupture and Repair psychologists call it. Kintsugi a fantastic metaphor. When a pot breaks they put it back together with Gold. Gold being the conduit of the spirit. Then it makes sense that, when you two break and go through hard times. but come back together. it creates that Spiritual Connection. that Golden bond between you two. 3:52 I bet a woman would say a guy thought of that. Mixing husbandry with ethics gets messy, real fast, real bad. Out of love, out of commitment, begun with vows held sacred by the community of brethren’s own people. This is the way. I don’t think I want to imagine a man ( kind) with no family, bonds, affection, or even having no sense of duty, and traditional values. It reminds me a bit of brave new world where people are decanted for specific purposes, and castes for their civilization’s sake. He becomes like the insects. Born of hives to serve the hive for the sake of the hive, which doesn’t exist except for the ones who comprise it. Better to be a fool and fall into love , and let nature be a mother two.

Also, we can be TOTALLY different people any day even one year apart from who we've been today. We are always under construction from the Spirit and Spirits that Love us.. there's a great quote I used to try and teach people to be more open minded. "You're under no obligation to be who you were 5 minutes ago." As in. Whatever errors or mistaken paths you're living. You can right the ship. I mean, as long as you haven't done anything too grievous. Otherwise as the Pharaoh. God will Harden your Heart. At that point... sigh... I'm sorry you did whatever you did... but it must be The Path.

I don't think we can define "love", and no religion can do that. Religions have been "invented" to structure society, roughly speaking. You can easily see that different religions structure their societies differently. So the belief in an absolute divine being behind everything is an illusion that depends on the society and religion you belong to, which is usually the society and religion you grew up in. This is all very obvious and yet the guardians of religion refuse to see it. Of course they can't, otherwise they wouldn't be able to take on this role.
