Composer Ron Wasserman is known for writing iconic theme songs for shows like X-Men: The Animated Series and the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers as well as scores for shows like Dragon Ball Z. However, there's a dark side in the legacy of "Go Go Power Rangers" and Haim Saban's actions in production of the show.
Here, Ron talks about how he got the gig and what he thinks of how he was hidden from public view for years and how he feels now that the internet has revealed him as the true composer of the iconic theme song.

"Go Go Power Rangers" is a single by Ron Wasserman who recorded the song as "Aaron Waters - The Mighty RAW." It was released by Saban Records, later renamed Saban Music Group of Saban Capital Group, on CD and cassette formats in the US on December 2, 1994, and in the UK December 14, 1994. The song serves as the opening theme for the first three seasons of the original Power Rangers series Mighty Morphin Power Rangers.

Ron Wasserman got screwed by Haim Saban just like every other person who ever worked for him, but there's a lot more to the story than this. Wasserman wrote a tremendous amount of music for the series for many years, and he wasn't hidden from view at all - he didn't get credit for writing the theme, but did get credits both on screen and off from the very beginning, just not always the credits he actually deserved. The layers of screwed-ness when it comes to everyone who worked on Power Rangers (or with Saban in general) are legendary. There's a reason Haim Saban is a billionaire, and it's not because of his artistic talent or work ethic.

Haim Saban's ego is such that I'm astounded Super Sentai doesn't have a disclaimer it was inspired by Power Rangers. Seriously though, Ron's music is one of the major edges I think Power Rangers had over the Japanese originals.

@@rkvc I'm jealous you guys got to hang with him. One thing I appreciate about artists is when they give it their all, regardless of the project. There is nothing about that shows premise that, to me, informs the music he wrote for it. It's like he wrote a badass rock/metal soundtrack and it just happened to be about kaiju, henshin, and martial arts. I put it in the category of "better than it has any business being", which only comes with earnest intent, real talent, and great effort. If they had used *his* theme when the metal homunculus they called a MegaZord erupted from the ground, it would have legitimately raised that film up a notch. (That said I was pleasantly surprised by the movie and enjoyed it, donuts and all)

Met Ron in 2018 at power morphicon. Without his music the power rangers wouldn’t have been this cool ! Remove the music is like removing the soul. It was an honor to meet him. Kinda su.... that saban treated everyone bad in those days. He got the money and many were left out.

Something just hit me.... Did Ron also do the Original Digimon theme? It seems in line with what was talked about in the video. Both shows were scored by Saban's group allegedly. And i can't lie, the singer does sound a lot like him.

Nope, the "original" theme (I assume you mean the US version) was made by Chris Horvath, who weirdly enough recorded a demo theme for Power Rangers SPD, which was rejected in favor of Wasserman's song.

Ron hanging out a bit on RangerBoard back when he was working on his Power Rangers Redux album was a fantastic time. Makes me nostalgic, thinking back to how he shared demo versions and took feedback as the work on the songs progressed. That version of Go Go Power Rangers is hands-down the best one ever produced, the extended Combat just feels amazing, and... I just got a powerful urge to listen to the updated We Need A Hero.

Awesome!, Ron is one of the few guys I really admire, I had lots of curiosity to see his face or listen to him since lots of time... so much gratitude for lots of good memories from my childhood... since I was a kid music was the trigger to enjoy tv, back then the intro and ending of series was like the real power in purest form, I'm Colombian and power rangers is one of those series never got "translated versions" of the intro songs, and that's really cool, I enjoy the songs in different versions with different "feelings" but power rangers song it's just one version in my mind. It's a shame human world was and will be full of so many wrong stuff, money and other motivations could lead people to be the worst version of themselves... as slipknot told in a very frontal song, sometimes "people=shit" BUT, thanks to Ron and lots of artists and cool people mankind still offers more than the bad side of things. Thank you for this video and infinite gratitude to Ron for tons of good times.
