well, Shane's M.O was going to be jumping off the cliff, but it seems Pierre got to that first. Freezing to death would be excruciating, Shane seemed to want a more painless death. Also, notice the pose his body is in - a sign of a struggle, plus the seemingly nonchalant staff. I suspect foul play...

My head-canon is that Pierre found out that Caroline cheated on him, and decided to take revenge. He kidnapped the Wizard and tied him to the railway tracks, then sent a note to Caroline pretending to be the Wizard, asking her to come to the tower. There, Pierre confronts her and kills her in a jealous rage, before walking south and committing suicide.

@@lovidasmith talk about coping mechanisms, he is literally the sweetest once you get to know him and you do get blue chickens though their coloring is the only difference between them and white chickens. And if you marry him and give him gifts he fixes your fences, feeds your animals and does chores and is actually pretty helpful. Besides jokingly wanting to send your kids to a joja boot camp, but I haven't regretted being married to him yet. At least he isn't as bad as Alex.

Here's my theory about what happened: Linus explored the sewers and, after running into Krobus, panicked and attacked him. Krobus was forced to kill him in self-defense, and this shocked him so much that he and the other Shadow People decided the humans in Pelican Town needed to go. They began coming off at night, picking off the townsfolk one by one in manners that look like accidents. They push Penny, Haley, and Willy into the water and hold them under until they die. As people keep dying off, the remaining townsfolk begin to panic. Some of them just left the town (explaining why some, like Sebastian, aren't present as ghosts or corpses), while others holed up in their homes. During a stress-induced argument, Caroline revealed her affair with Wizard. This caused Pierre to make a revenge plot. He drugged wizard and tied him to the railroad tracks, then lured Caroline there and shot her in the head. Abigail entered the room in time to see this and ran away in terror. Pierre, realizing the gravity of what he did, threw himself off the cliff to his death. Abigail, meanwhile, ran herself through with her own sword after reaching the mines. Dwarf probably tried to stop her but his pleas fell on deaf ears because Abigail couldn't understand Dwarvish. Once most of the town was picked off, the Shadow people launched a final attack and blatantly killed every human they could find; this is why some people are decapitated, impaled, or otherwise obviously murdered. Clint and Shane both survived by hiding, but after losing most of their neighbors they committed suicide in despair - Clint by hanging and Shane by locking himself in the freezer. Marlon and Gil holed up in the Adventurer's Guild and survived because the Shadow People judged they were too dangerous to attack. This is the same reason Dwarf survived; he was armed to the teeth with ammunition. Gunther survived by hiding in his stall - the Shadow People didn't even notice he was there. Morris sold out the rest of the town to the Shadow People in order to save himself and the JojaMart staff. Sandy survived because the Shadow People didn't attack the desert.

I think this mod was the result of a losing battle with invading Gotoro Empire troops. Shane was possibly the first casualty, being shot in the Jojamart and hastily stuffed into the freezer. Gus died fairly early on, which is why he was actually in the hospital unlike the others. The Wizard was thrown onto the train tracks after a magic cancelling collar was forced onto him. The soldiers put Leah’s head on the wheel and filled the basement with garlic as a mockery. Pierre and Caroline tried to flee to look for Abigail, but Pierre slipped and fell off the cliff. Caroline was cornered in the tower afterwards and shot down. Elliot was the sole survivor and committed suicide by drinking acid to avoid being taken as a POW. The incident was so violent and unjust that the souls of the villagers were unable to move on.

@@RogueTheFurryRaver I mean... for me Shane and Clint felt darkly obvious that they purposely did it to themselves after what I've seen in game of them and their dialogue/heart events... they hated never getting to live and enjoy life for themselves and didn't have the confidence to get away from what they were already doing. Clint lost the person he really liked and the one girl who was nice to him, and he never really loved Pelican town or his job anyways. And Shane... legit nearly rolled off a cliff anyways in game after half passing out from the alchohol poisoning. Especially if Marnie and Jas were already dead the freezer is a pretty easy way to go and Morris was so uncaring he'd never notice till it was too late. Though as for the rest seems like foul play and tragic accidents. Now how Elliot died, I kinda wanna know that, cause somehow he is the only one that looks kinda peaceful... and the rest are both obvious and not for example the kids the drowned ones etc. and kinda better left to the imagination for the fun of the fans... makes it even darker though that there were definitely at least two deaths I think were self inflicted. But Elliots is a total mystery he's just chilling out in the open peacefully sprawled on the beach... no obvious wounds that I see but looks like he's been there a while.

If that was the case, either he was lynched for interfering, or he broke down and ended it because he just lost everything. Without a timeline, we've got guesses as to what caused what, because some of them are most likely connected. Abigail running to the mines to hide (she never seemed overly religious, next for sacrifice? Or in danger for being the Wizard's daughter?), and accidentally trips Haley into the fountain where she drowned. Penny panicked at the commotion & tried to hide in the hot springs and drowned, while Linus tried to hide from the commotion in the sewers and also drowned. At least a few were most likely incompetence or bad luck. Willy may have fallen in (line hooked to boat? Caught a shark or large tuna?), hit his head on the rock and drowned. Shane might have gotten drunk on the job, and couldn't get the door to the freezer back open. Or Pierre & Caroline confronted the Wizard, Wizard kills Caroline & blinds Pierre to escape. (Teleports away, lands on train tracks right in front of the train?) Pierre tries to pursue without being aware that the Wizard teleported, only to fall to his death. So far, the kids' deaths are the ones that's got me most confused. Even Leah's gives us more to go by, by virtue of her ex.

This feels like a "Start". The body placement and ghost thing is cool, but that's about it. Adding dialogue changes for sure is the next step, adding in depressed, confused, and morbid dialogue to everyone, maybe with hints to their demise and locations. There is a slight color shift, but otherwise the game looks normal. More custom elements would help, More decay, ruin, damage, spiderwebs etc will work. Just more creepy and horror elements. Maybe a little blood, you dont need a ton, but some here and there will press it. Overall i like where this is going, but it feels like its just getting started, and I hope it is. Beyond that, not much reason to play it myself. Stardew is such a bright and comfy game that i love, so i think making a game that comforts so many people and then turning it around and really unsettle people would be fun. Hope to see more.
