Hello, Tommy's version came out in the spring of '71, Tommy wrote the song, And it was on the 'B' side Church Street Soul Revial in 1970. Before DJ'S s turned the record over.

Yes, it is Dave Clark......with or without "Five". When it was released around early 1972 punters were bemused by "DC's" apparent change in direction after the "slap/whack/shout/sax" of previous hits in the '60's. Upon first hearing, my mate thought that this was a song about animal preservation........"dragon and the lion...." !???

from looking up theirs and Tommy James discographies Dave Clark Five done this in 1971 and Tommy in 1972 so I think DCF recorded it first.
