The Day After | Saturday, April 10th, 2021

Since 2020 was the year that it was, I thought it would be interesting to capture what day to day life is like for me as we collectively try to return to some sense of normalcy in the year 2021. This vlog captures just an ordinary day of my life in a year that I hope brings back all the things I took for granted before. I hope you enjoy and I hope to see you tomorrow!

My beloved Tiger (cat) passed on February 2, 2020. I was his mom for over 20 years. I was devastated. The vet hospital was so kind and understanding. My family supported me. I have his ashes in a beautiful urn and paw prints resting on our mantle. I understand. Be blessed!

I’m so sorry about Genny! We went through this recently with our beloved 13 year old bloodhound. My husband had him as a puppy when we first began dating in college. He was our first child and it has been very difficult not having him here. We struggled with the decision too, but ultimately, we have their best interest at heart and seeing them suffer is more painful. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

I took a week off of work when I had to put my first dog down, this is so much emotion and brave to share. The positive that came to my head was how lucky have you been to be able to spend the last year 24/7 with her, my current fur baby is 1 1/2 and she is literally being so sweet and loving right now because she knows I’m all in my feelings. Riley will take care of you and Genesis will to from another angle.

I'm going through the exact same thing as we speak. I had to put my cat, who was 15 years old to sleep, Sunday. I know exactly how you feel. Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers. May GOD use memories to comfort and keep you until you both meet again. Much love.

You are in my prayers. May she rest in peace. These are the times that put things in proper perspective. Family is important. Everything else is secondary. School years change every year but your family will not be here forever. We have to cherish them while we can. That is the only thing that matters. Teachers can be replaced. Family can't be replaced. Love them while you're able to. I've lost my cat and family members. My teaching job is not a stressor to me. I don't allow it to be. Don't let your job stress you. Please take care of yourself. My first dog was gifted to me in my own infancy and waa my 'brother' 3 years before my human brother was born. My second dog came into my life at age 13 and transitioned after I graduated from undergraduate school. My cat I hand raised from 3 weeks of age and she was an integral part of my mom's life as I cared for them both in their final years. Our pets are indeed precious members of our 'family'; well loved and never forgotten.

Love and prayers your way---I hear your story and went through similar feelings myself with my furbabies. This helped me---I hope it helps you---I found peace when I remembered that my baby was now at peace and was feeling no pain. And as for being less than patient than you would have wanted to with Genesis---It only shows you are human--no one is the perfect mom. Bless your heart ❤️ We had to put our Annie down because of cancer a few years ago. She was a cat we had for 14 years and we had found her as a stray kitten. It was one of the hardest things we had to do. In fact, my Daddy had to take her because I couldn't do it. I cried right along with you in this video. I'm so sorry. This is going to hurt for a while, but eventually, the hurt will be replaced with wonderful memories. We have two other cats now that we rescued as kittens, but we still have pictures of Annie and talk about her often. I'm so sorry for your loss, but your love for Genesis led you to the right decision for her. ❤️

Been thinking of you the last few days. We lost our little dashound suddenly in January. She was 12 years old and bonded to our other dashound who is 11. They had always been together. One of the hardest things was seeing her walk around and look for the other one. There was definitely a period of grieving for her as well. Prayers of peace for you.

I am feeling your emotion because I went through the same exact thing with my cocker spaniel that was in my family for 15 years. He had an attack and he was very disoriented and unable to stand, eat, and go to the bathroom on his own. It happened on a Saturday morning and we were at the vet first thing Monday. I try to remember the great times and pictures. I also want another dog but not sure if I can handle another goodbye 12-15 years down the road. Just take one day at a time.

This breaks my heart. You're human. Losing your patience is totally normal. I lost my patience with my own child when she was going through cancer treatment, simply because she wouldn't do certain things that she needed to do. Genesis will always be a part of your life. She seemed like such a sweet dog. I remember telling my sister about her little beds and I was so excited when she got her stroller. Hang in there.

This is my very first comment ever but I just have to say how sorry I am for your loss. I watched yesterday’s video last night while sitting on the couch with my 11 year old dog and while I’m not typically a cryer I SOBBED through the entire thing. I’m dreading the day I lose my Toby and I can only imagine how heartbroken you must be. I’m sure you know you did the right thing for Genesis but that doesn’t take away your sadness. I have to share with you that you did a vlog years ago where Genesis was having issues jumping onto the couch. I thought it was so funny and I showed my co-worker because she's a dog person. You would try to help her to get on the couch and she wasn't having it. Genesis finally made it onto the couch but we had a good time laughing at her stubbornness.

I don’t like to tell people how to feel, but guilty should be one thing you shouldn’t feel. Many people would not have allowed themselves to make the decision you made because they couldn’t handle the emotional toll. As tough as it was, you knew that, while it would be tough on you mentally and emotionally, putting Genny down was the best thing for her. So I say all that to say this, I’ve watched you for years and I’ve seen how you loved your baby, I firmly believe that she left this world feeling the same love she’d known her whole life.
