I think the craziest part is that The Day Before isn't even the first scam game of it's type. Every year or some game comes along on kickstarter saying: "We're making a game that allows you to go where ever you want, do whatever you want, and interact with players all over the world. You'll have so much freedom and choice!" And every single time they get funded 2000% over the initial kickstarter. Then when you finally see gameplay after 4 trailer delays, it looks like a shitty unity asset flip and the dev runs with the money.

If the game was advertised correctly and it was just a shit game the devs could’ve gotten away with it. The important part though is that they literally lied about the genre of the game. Of all the fighting game examples, and there were definitely games that existed purely because Street Fighter 2 was the biggest thing in the world for a while, Fatal Fury is a weird one to go with. You can’t be a knockoff when you’re made by the original Street Fighter team and in development at the same time. Tekken is like that too. You can’t be a Virtua Fighter ripoff if you’re created by the lead designer of Virtua Fighter.

The real tragedy? It's instant gratification has spoiled us all. Like, never buy a game on release! NEVER EVER pre-order a game! Wait for like three days for everyone to go either "it's a masterpiece" or "it's dog shit" and save yourself like, eighty bucks! So what if you're not like, the VERY FIRST HUMAN to experience some shit? Is the feeling of being right at the bleeding edge really worth such a sink of both time and money?

Pat is mostly right about zombies fans having low standards but he doesn’t seem to know that VERY SPECIFICALLY people have been trying to recreate the lightning in the bottle that was dayz. They want open world zombie survival milsim. Third person Project zomboid. And The Day Before is literally attempt number 100+.

I'm still bummed that Anthem 2.0 got canned. That game could've gone far if it was given the chance it needed.

Personally, I never really got into the cycle of Hype for a game, then Disappointment as it fails. Partly because I rarely buy day 1 unless it's something I'm certain will be good. Hell, in some cases, I benefit from the failure. Shit like Anthem and Cyberpunk I just waited until the price dropped to almost nothing, got it, and took what enjoyment I wanted without forking over the extra cash. It really is almost worrying how "Gamers" never learn the lesson of not overhyping a game and always waiting to buy something. Especially with AAA games that are almost always broken on launch and take some time to be put into working order. Indie titles I can understand a little, they do need that early support and people can accept jank and flaws if it's still a good product. So it can be easy to fall victim to the scams or fund a project that quickly falls apart. But at the same time, it's up to the Dev's to try and prove that they are more than capable of making the finished product if they do get that support.

If you are watching this and want a really good Zombie game I implore you to check out Project Zomboid. Is it a massive MMO? No. Can you and your friends have fun with it? Yes. Can you join a server and have factions and shit? Yes.

Tiktok has decided that I care about those guys who're pissed off about Spidey not winning GOTY, and it's so depressing. It's like the worst dregs of the console wars all over again, the copium dosage is SO HEAVY. Imagine having so much of your personality wrapped up in the game you love that it viscerally upsets you to see people -not -*-disliking-*- it- but liking it LESS than some other game in an entirely different genre.

First of all, The Game Awards have about as much credibility as the Video Music Awards since it's strictly for advertising and promoting games and that's it so I don't think their opinion means anything anyway. Second of all, who cares if Spidey won an award or not? It doesn't change the fact that the game is good. Nobody needs Geoff Keighley's approval to tell them that, especially when there's always some dumb bullshit about what games receive favoritism in the nominations anyway.

Damn, what a perfect name to fit the topic. "The Day After The Scam" = day after the scam takes place everything goes down. "The Day After. The Scam" = name of the game, the scam game. Just thought that was fun
