Most comments I come across, highly underrate Duda and Rapport. I think Duda should be a favourite.
@bhough4102 жыл бұрын
They can both beat anyone on any given day & are probably the 2 most entertaining play styles from the group. Duda's defensive resourcefulness is like a charmed cobra until the slightest miscalculation is made and suddenly he turns the tides before opponents realized what just happened. Rapport at times is able to set up deep tactics no one else sees until it's to late. The WC is a whole different animal though, requiring prep like nothing else in this game. Fabi would prob have the best chance at contending considering he's a prep machine and has some inclination on what might be required to have a fighting chance. Whoever wins this would do well to consider asking Fabi to be part of their prep team.

@10:50... is there a reason that Rook to g5 isn't played? Both this and knight seem viable... but with Check, you allow the Queen to go to h1 afterwards further harassing the white king... or is the fear that you allow the king reason to escape further into the middle of the board? It just seems better or at the very least equal.
@colorsofsound47822 жыл бұрын
white can blcok with rook and force rook trades, then black has no attack anymore because there is not enough pieces, probably black calculated the whole sequence and deemed that Magnus can hold with white, besides the endgame technique of Magnus is slightly better than Hikaru, and it is in Hikaru's favour to keep the game complex (by threatening a discovery) in order to get Magnus low on time I'd assume. The white king is just much more vulnerable than black's so Hikaru needs to keep as many pieces on the board as possible to keep the attack going and not allow Magnus to liquidate the offensive

At 4:22 can Hikaru just take the pawn Nxg4 instead of Qh6? If Magnus plays BxBh3 instead of fxNg4 Hikaru could play Ne3 threatening the rook, deflecting Mag's Queen, winning the bishop back after Bgxb2 Qxh3. It just seems like black's center would be too strong especially with a Queen and 2 rooks. IDK.
