Shit, i play basketball and get annoyed when some try hard who wants to pretend he's in the NBA or gets paid to play ball for a living tries to roughhouse, mostly i just get my shots in and get a workout in by myself nowadays. I think he was getting sicker here... His voice isn't as clear thats always a sign something is going on Unfortunately... He was also getting impatient with Things to Bless Him Glad he got to go back to Ireland.. He's flying high now an can do whatever he wants xoxo

I am also Irish, 97% + by DNA test. I've never seen Ireland because frankly, I cannot find a relative or friend who wants to go with a disabled old lady. My family is originally from Cork too. And I also have 4 younger brothers. Lovely, his horse knows him. This is very hard work for his parents .

Feel truly sad you don't have someone to come with you, I hope by now you found a way to visit Ireland! I am in Canada, and am also mostly alone, even if I am not disabled. I keep thinking in a situation such as Stuart's, I would be alone, stuck in a hospital bed probably. I hope you find good people, friends.

if i were one of the parents i don't know how i would feel? obviously heartbroken but i maybe would rather my son had passed away so as not to suffer in his condition , my life would be taken over with chores and i would feel that all the chores in the world wouldn't really help much, i know it sounds selfish but thats the way it, is when my dad died my mum lived another 4 years and kept saying she wished she was dead and back with her husband, we as a family tried to cheer her up but i was a waste of time it depressed us as much as it did her , she was immobile housebound alone waiting for carers or us each day and now she is dead i am happy for her? harsh but true

What an amazing young man. It just shows you that no matter what life throws at you the human spirit is strong and you make the best of it. For all those saying the would rather die I think you would probably feel different if it happened. The will to live is in most ppl stronger then they think.

There's a really thought provoking part in the book where the carer explains how the main character dreamt about his life before he was paralysed and how he used to scream with frustration when he woke up and faced the reality that he couldn't move. The author wrote that she had either a family member or friend in a similar situation which inspired the book. I think this guy mentions something similar. Guess we should all learnt not to take our mobility and independence for granted?

OK just another question, I was going to ask if you had of airflow mattress To keep things moving on your body so you’re don’t get pressure sores. Also do you have lambswool but those are on your heels in bed and your ankles almost anywhere that will help keep pressure sores off too. You can tell me stop talking and I’ll understand. Take care

As Stuart comes from part of Ireland that is not part of the UK but part of the European Union how does this affect his care costs under the NHS? He's in the same situation as someone from say Germany or France that had an accident in the UK and needed care under the NHS.We used to have to take an E111 when visiting the EU that is basically a document that says the UK government will pay for your care if needed in the EU.I don't know what happens the other way round.

Usually it's as a result of medication. With a spinal cord injury the signals from the nerves are blocked at the level of the injury. His was the worst kind of injury, being very high up. He would probably have had trouble regulating blood pressure and other body systems so steroids are usually needed and they are the usual culprit when it comes to swelling and the weight gain due to fluid build up xxx

it is medication, DaBratt when muscles atrophy they get small not puffy. he can use his face muscles as a quadraplegiic he would be on a LOT of medication including steroids sto help with the chest infections etc
