I like Sokka’s letter as well, his humour brings more meaning than Katara and Aang’s entire passages would bring because it anchors greatly on experiences and alludes to specific emotions and reactions of Iroh instead of general reactions like Katara’s letter. Being thankful for getting freed in Ba Sing Sei is a general response, but ‘please stop making me drink your tea’ forces an in character response from uncle Iroh about his obsession with tea. It sets apart Iroh with just another man who helped us and expresses genuine thoughts.

This letter is made after TLOK was released. In a scene with Korra, Zuko is surprised to hear that Iroh is in the spirit world - which means that Iroh didn't tell Zuko before he left for spirit world. That's pretty messed up from a father figure like Iroh.

I see it more as Iroh had finished everything he had left in life to do other than passing good to others, he didn't go to the spirit realm to leave the shackles of his dying body but instead leaving those shackles so his spirit can do more good for the world and to explore the spirit realm like he never had time to in his age

Iroh is one of my all time favourite characters, not just from Avatar but from any media. He's just somehow a perfectly written character, he's a fully empathic person with a wealth of wisdom but they managed to not make him preachy and keep him completely believable and human.
@paprika17252 жыл бұрын
Bruh Sokka's letter is so out of character. The real Sokka would have been more thoughtful and passionate. Also, I wish Iroh called Zuko "my son" instead of "my nephew" in the end. It would have been twice as touching.

I expected a lot more gratitude form Sokka. He may not always tell how it is but throw a joke in here and there, but he would have said a lot more. I definitely see a page worth of thanks to Iroh from Sokka, and I can see not finishing his letter without cracking a little Sokka joke in there too. We have seen Sokka's thoughtful side. I'm shocked he was not portrayed the Sokka we know in this letter. Sokka was a lot more accepting of Zuko than Katara. This Sokka in the letter sounds more like the Sokka in the live action film from 2009 I refuse to even name. Edited spelling

@wackyanimations33262 жыл бұрын
sadly, that isnt how it works. Iroh did not die like the others, he went to the spirit world and decided to never come back.
