Men are also captured in these standards…I see a lot of young boys at the gym trying to lift weights that are 10x their weight because they want muscles quicker because of social media standards , men (including myself) edit pictures so much because we suffer from body dysmorphia. Fitness industry has become so toxic for young men over the couple of years. Yes, it’s easier to see this in women, but it’s much the same on men. It’s a pretty messy game.

To some degree, getting ripped is still an attainable goal which doesnt require you to spend a lot of money on surgeries, a gym membership is cheap, running anywhere is free, exercising at home is free. What isn't attainable is being shaped like an hour glass, not everyone is born curvy, some will be blessed a little more than others, some will have to work harder to get to that point, and some will cheat. Even trying to look like a body builder is still an attainable goal, because there is work needed to get there (and the occasional steroids shot).

@@prod.byjoker3778getting ripped is attainable, but it's not sustainable for most people. This requires having a very low body fat which reduces testosterone in men, lower energy levels, can't workout as hard, harder to recover, in women, they can lose their menstrual cycles and a plethora of other issues. This is why bodybuilders, both naturals and non-naturals, aren't "ripped" year around. Some stay healthy lean in their off season, but not ripped.

The whole social media influencer lifestyle is a deep rabbit hole of its own, and what bothers me is how we're all distracted by Influencers and their fake life style meanwhile the Social Media platforms are selling our Information to billion dollar companies to advertise their products.
@1000OtherFoxes11 ай бұрын
Yes and even worse, keep you distracted, not being able to focus, creating complex, making you dumb and killing your empathy (when you scroll and go from the horror of a war to a delicious cheesecake, you don't even have time to process and think about what you just saw) all together it totally reshape society and we are seeing the results.
@MYNAMEISKLAY11 ай бұрын
The terms and conditions of these social media platforms have always been accessible and visible by the consumer. It is up to the consumer to make the best decision possible. When using products that are advertised as "free", people need to think hard about what the company is getting out of it. I think social media is the distraction, not necessarily the influencers with the most followers. But it has also allowed the world to become slightly smaller (in terms of access to others across the world), and has allowed people to stay in contact who otherwise wouldn't be able to. Tradeoffs.

Like the social media online internet may be totally totally totally differing from the actual world, and honestly it screams joblessness or encouraging idleness cause most of these persons posting probably apart from this channel post and non care totally if persons may carry on such narrative Soo most persons may post or influencers yet may ignite violence that's sort of why If one comes out to interact with persons online or real world have ground rules of values that you may hold onto non because you may want to create discord , that may still boil down to you none really having such values but online world may really depict hidden degeneracy amongst persons even in Africa I'm surprised at the huge level of all kinds of weirdness and rubbish and capitalizing carrying it even more than the Caucasians. Nonetheless no one should ignite one to execute something that may obtain non much values as the onus may non be on the person making one to yet also on the persons watching like have some decorum . Most content creators easily pit others against another who may even be trying to earn them to view the bigger picture.. most of the audience may obtain little should one state it as control or scrutiny

I feel like if you look for education on social media you're destined to be misinformed, these platforms were made for entertainment first, if you want education there's schools and books one could read, not watch a motivational video from Andrew Tate about "making it". The whole "Making It" concept is a lie. Millions of Gen Z's grow up thinking in the future we're all getting mansion and fast cars but attaining a billionaire life for black folks takes 2 generations of hardwork, someone like Jay Z, Oprah, Beyonce etc... make I look like we can make a billion in one life time when in reality it's nearly impossible to aquire so much wealth in one life time, given that you came from a third world country that's currently in Debt

Someone once said social media was made to connect us but in all essence it has disconnected us and that hit me hard I recently started observing people and not look at my phone and in all instances I have seen people bent over watching their screens. It reminded of a time when most of us had no phones and they were a luxury in those times we had to engage and physically socialize with the people around us but with social media you get the chance to present your ideal character separate from your actual self and most people will always choose to present their ideal self instead of the person they are in real life. If you are into conspiracy theories then you will believe that this transition from television which was level 1 programming to cell phones which took social programming to a new level your cellphone is an echo chamber feeding you destructive material some of which is not real. There was push to get social media companies to force label people and companies posting adverts to indicate whether the photos posted were edited in some form as a disclaimer and that was shot down because if they did then most people would realize the facade being played on them which would drive down engagement from their users .I.e lost revenue

At the time two way radio was the hottest thing. UMTS was deployed in Europe. During that time there was Napster which was free. There was no apple music or spotify. There was no facebook. Myspace was a webpage based on pictures. The breakthrough happened with the Iphone which launched 2006/2007 time frame. During that time UMTS was being deployed in the US. Lol! I followed as soon as you asked G. I help my friends create content, some are fashion designers and some are artists, I also have those who just want to be seen online, the freedom of being behind the camera is calming. I don't really care for our generation at this point, I educate my nephews and nieces on how to use social networks responsibly, I try to teach them the ability to look and be content with what you have. I don't teach them that "this is fake" because how can a live video of your best friend eating at a rooftop restaurant be faked? I just teach them "it's ok", I also teach them the meaning of individuality. It's all about them now, I just want them to be able to quiet the noise and be happy with who they are and what they have. It's sad I have to teach that to 13 year olds but our kids are being raised by the world, it's no longer just family and school, it's everyone with reach, no matter how big or small. Fomophobia, in my opinion, will lead to mental health issues impossible to ignore in the future.

The issues is terrible I agree. I think most look for the quick way to “fame” or “wealth” instead of doing something with their lives. Reality tv was the beginning of quick fame. People confuse being famous with being infamous. In an interview with Cindy Crawford the report has her latest cover and asked what is it like looking like Cindy Crawford and point to the cover. She replied I wish looked like that, the magazines alter it that even someone that beautiful is alter. But that’s on the magazine, not the model. With social media they are crafting themselves and I can’t imagine what it must feel like to hate the way you look so much for the fast ticket fame. It’s really sad and shallow know that everything about you, your life, experience is a lie. Their lives are make believe and at the end of you have nothing. Wish I had the answers on how to fix this. Enjoy living and your life.. you are all amazing.

Hello there, my first video from Curiosities, so I didn't see anything else yet, but I wanna add to the discussion since you made a lots of excellent points and inspired me to form an opinion. For example the fact that people project a better version of themselves by default, and it's completely human to want to be portraited as beautiful and rich as possible. So people use more and more creative methods to get that done. And it's also very interesting to say that people want to be entertained not educated, that sounds very true. But upon some thinking, I think that there is a time for entertainment and time for learning everyday. So ultimately, it's just on personal preference of everyone how much time they will spend on each activity everyday. My only reservation would be the title. It's an obvious clickbait, and very clever one, I have to give you that. Because, really, how deadly is that influence, right? I started to think about that from the point where you asked:" when the deceiving in media became ok?" Well, I think somewhere around the times where TV started, so 1940's ? Because from adverts implying smoking is healthy and political propaganda adverts, I think that deception is here this whole time. It's nothing new. And I agree that if you fall for unrealistic standards and reality, then there is a reality check that doesn't feel good, but I would point out that this is probably here for everyone as a part of growing up. Whether it is a job that doesn't go as the school taught you or realisation that adverts in telly don't have to be correct. There's a lots of waking up in life, and realising that filters and impressions on tiktok are not real is only small part of that waking up. So it shouldn't really kill you, I hope. So I put it down to your age, and you are doing very good job informing on this issue, but I strongly believe that children's world is gonna end at some point for everybody, and the real/adult world will take over the importance and attention. Otherwise, the words are very well written, I can see some really good editing skill and generally making a video interesting the whole time. So kudos for all of that. See you in next video.

I honestly don't see any harm in editing the scenery ie putting clouds, enhancing colours or removing dirty. Sometimes it's a person's artistic imagination or theme of how they want a place to look. I however have a problem with people enhancing their features, altering their bodies, complexion etc. Every body is beautiful

I don’t measure myself against worldly people. They will never have enough hence they are truly miserable. They THINK they are happy till they sit down and realized they starved to death the most important part of them, their souls. No connection to God only to material stuff that can burn in an instant. See we were created to worship God Almighty hence why nothing in this world can satisfy you to the point of never wanting more. Only a true relationship with the one who created everything single thing we have and need and want. Once you realize your place under Jesus Christ as your king, you will never ever feel the true satisfaction of what life really is.

As far as I can recall, the concept of "fake" has been prevalent throughout history, particularly in the modeling industry. From the 1950s to the present day, both male and female models have often presented an artificial image. Furthermore, the prevalence of "fake news" and the questionable credibility of mainstream media have contributed to a society where many individuals no longer prioritize distinguishing between truth and falsehood. It appears that this trend is unlikely to change in the foreseeable future.

You’re right about people wanting to be entertained not educated. I’m young! Gen Z, and a lot of people around me are consumed will bullshit like baddies the tv show on Zeus, KZbin streamers, keeping up with celebrities, fronting for Instagram as teens/young adults so their friends can be amused when they’re given handouts and it’s like they’re not even giving themselves the chance to be their ages and obliviously too it’s for the internet and it’s sad as fuck they don’t realize and if you defer you’re called lame🤷♀️ luckily for me I’m very diverse so I fit in but it’s sad to see many of my peer be so judgmental and being all for the internet. Everything I stated is fine but now when it consumes you

The harm is also when people feel the need to change their bodies e.g. getting fillers, enhancing calf muscles/abs, BBLs or taking certain medications like the one for diabetes treatment to loose weight rapidly, the Kim K did. Some of these procedures are dangerous, not to mention very expensive to get and to maintain.

I believe that social media thriving has been brought about by the need of attention which is as a result of societal changes from the 1980s onwards. Children were brought up in homes where parents were working and didn't get enough attention so they miss the early attention and love that children need while growing up, creating a void that needs to be filled, which results in them seeking to fill the void by looking for attention and acceptance online. I know I'm 100% spot on.

I defiantly agree with the overall theme of your video, but I would like to add a different perspective. at what point is personal responsibility held to account. If you are stupid enough to spend a small fortune on a vacation off of a few social media post then you deserve to lose the money in my opinion. At what point do people look internally and take responsibility for their ignorance and gullibility. I don't think people who make their daily bread from SM marketing should go without because some people are stupid, gullible, or easily influenced. Would love a discussion on this.

That’s why these types of videos exist, imo. To wake up the ppl that are under the spell. It’s hard to notice that you’re being sucked down the rabbit hole if you’re too focused on the stuff inside of the rabbit hole. Some ppl really just don’t realize. And also it’s a lot of children. Young minded people are being influenced and they’ve never been taught what’s right . And alot of us can say “I remember when we didn’t have the internet” but those that are younger can not remember those times so they have nothing to compare it to.
