Most stageplay adaptations of anime and games are pretty good. I think it's because Japan doesn't shy away from the weirdness of it and leans into it whenever it can. Seriously; Ace Attorney, Yakuza, Pokemon, Love is War, Bleach, One Piece, Gintama. All cheesy and yet great because of it.

I don't know if anyone else feels this way, but I think that when Light takes out L, that would have been good enough ending point, not to say the whole second half of the series was bad, it just feels like there was a set end point but someone somewhere said "I don't like that, end it a different way" or something like that.
@UnamisCat9 ай бұрын
The mangaka referenced that in their following serialized manga Bakuman. Basically Death Note was too popular, and the editor/publisher wouldn't let them end the series. At least that was how I interpreted it. Personally, I think the Japanes live action movies handled the ending the best.

Wait, I just thought of a loophole in the Death Note that I don't know if anyone ever tried. What if you write your own name in the death note but then write your time of death like 3000 years in the future? Even if it doesn't work and you die at your normal time of death, would it still give you invincibility against the deathnote from anyone else?
@ECXLEvan10 ай бұрын
The death note cannot extend someone's life. So if you set a date for after someone's death it won't do anything. It stands to reason that if someone else uses the Death Note on you after you have written your own death that whoever's death is shorter is the one that happens

I will forever defend the concept (and only the concept) of the death note live action movie being changed from critiquing japans terrifyingly corrupt 99% conviction rate and guilty-until-proven-innocent system into critiquing American gender dynamics and modern America’s specific obsession with glorifying mass acts of violence Granted, still a horrible movie, but I do love the concept of making a new death note story being centralized around a new social issue instead of the same ones, especially since that’s a very national issue for Japan Granted, I wish it was still focused on the legal system but America’s instead. I also wish it was, y’know, good.
