how is it taking place after soj? in the vid it says that the death of bobby fullbright happened 1 year before the current events, (which take place after SOJ.) but we know that the phantom was impersonating since 2020 because he killed Athena's mother so the events would only make sense if his death was taking place before Athena's mother died, and that is around the time t&t events were taking place i believe. I really want to hear your thoughts about this. ps: best ace attorney channel ever

Just as it should say 2028 instead of 2027, it should also be "two years ago" when it comes to Bobby's death I generally messed up the timeline in this vid a lot because I wanted to fit in Lana and Ema too, and I was too sleep deprived to think it down to those minute details 😅 But for what you say, the phantom wasn't impersonating Fulbright since 2020. At that time he was impersonating a random security guard. According to canon lore, Bobby Fulbright died somewhere on 2026 and was replaced by the phantom for a whole year. But not since 2020

@@debastiansebeste I've never been convinced by the "Injustice we trust" theory. That doesn't sound like English, and it would've been a hard bit of wordplay to carry between languages. Plus, the game never really calls it out, which I feel like it would've in some way if it was intended to be such foreshadowing. Duel Destinies isn't exactly subtle in those ways, lol. I've been thinking about this for awhile, trying to think of some way to foreshadow the Phantom reveal earlier on without spoiling it, but I can't really come up with anything. It's an interesting concept so I'd like to hear if anyone else has any ideas on how to do it. Personally, I feel like the reveal hit perfectly well the way it was. We had Fulbright acting weird in the Launch Pad 1 Corridor(?), which set off some alarm bells for me, and of course the reveal itself was done really well. I can't remember if that Launch Pad 1 Corridor(?) thing was Turnabout For Tomorrow or The Cosmic Turnabout though, so I guess it doesn't exactly help this debate about earlier foreshadowing if it was the same case as the reveal, lol. Something I learned about recently that I like a whole lot more than "Injustice we trust" is Jinxie. When she meets Fulbright, she calls him a ghost. I didn't connect the dots until I read a comment mentioning it, but I do remember thinking when I first saw that line "Why a ghost? That's odd". Yeah... So very odd... No idea why she might call him that...

@@debastiansebesteI actually did notice there was some foreshadowing way before the reveal, but it is VERY subtle. One of the biggest plot points in the Monstrous Turnabout is wrestlers and the Amazing Nine-Tails. Jinxie says that the biggest humiliation/ downfall of any wrestler is to have their identity revealed. When Damian Tenma, her father is revealed to be the Amazing Nine-Tails, his first thought is that his fan base would completely disappear, and he’d have to end his career. But why does it matter? Well, think back to the Phantom. What, above all else, is his ultimate motivation? Why does he do everything he does in Dual Destinies? It’s to keep his identity hidden. He tries to eliminate everything/everyone that could possibly expose him, for if he failed, it could cause him to meet his end: to cause his downfall. Just like a wrestler. Also, what case are we introduced to Fulbright/Phantom? Oh yeah, the Monstrous Turnabout/5-2. Thanks for heading down to my Ted talk, I rest my case.

While the Phantom is FAR from the most popular antagonists in the series, especially compared to the other Case 5 antagonists, this person has ruined many peoples lives in order to do their work without an ounce of emotion or remorse. I'm going to say, 'Great video as always.' This is not an attack on this, but rather on Dual Destinies (DD) as a whole. I would honestly prefer it if Phantom got killed by a sniper in DD. I don't know if it would be more satisfying and epic if he died. Also, in DD, we didn't get to know Fulbright well enough. I think DD would be much better if, in cases 1, 2, and the DLC, we had a real Fulbright, and then in case 4, we had the Phantom. It would be much more impactful if we cornered the Phantom (maybe even made that real because Fulbright left us a clue about the Phantom's identity or something like that). Your video just made me realize how much I dislike Phantom as a villain. Great video, as always. I can't wait for other ideas you have come up with You always manage to turn some bad things from games to one of the best ones

Thank you, friend. I agree that it could have been better if Fulbright had been replaced mid game, but on the other hand there's the other possibility that I like myself. That Fulbright never got replaced, and that the Fulbright of the game was simply a bad guy all along, without being "the phantom" who replaced the real detective and all that stuff. Simply an energetic detective who turns about to be a cold monster, with his own agenda.

I head-canon that this is how it actually is. The only thing that goes against it is Egdeworth saying a one year old corpse was identified as Fulbright. My explanation for that is I like to think it this info came to Miles by a written report that was maybe written by someone with bad hand-writing and it actually says "one week" instead of one year.

@@debastiansebeste Well, i understand why they chose Bobby as Gumshoe appeared enough time in the first trilogy. But they could have tried to exploit Gumshoe as a spy but perhaps because Bobby was on his track, he killed him and impersonated him, making Gumshoe’s persona dead to the eyes of the world. That would explained why they didn’t know Bobby was already dead because the Phantom disguised his body as himself. With that, that will implied Fulbright would be the Mastermind behind a far more complex lore of the Dark Age of the Law, perhaps even behind the Fey and Edgeworth’s tragedy. And perhaps also explained Kristoph black psyche-locks as he wouldn’t be in fact the Mastermind behind Phoenix eviction but a simple executioner following the plan of a criminal mind. And who’s netter than a police force officer as a Mastermind who create plans for killers. PS: It was an idea from an Ace Attorney fanfiction project i wanted to do several years ago but i never did as i still didn’t found the way to do that.

Hmm, you mean the HAT-1 miracle? From what I see, that sabotage took place in 2020, 7 years before Fulbright's death, and Lana had been imprisoned a few years prior to that. Am I missing something?

I had some mixed feelings because Lana had recognized that she forged some evidence, so seeing her alongside her sister was strange, while she had to report to the current police chief. We didn't get much information after the SL9 incident, so I was a bit taken aback to see her again. Maybe she guides her sister about how to be an effective detective? The other thing that struck me as odd was about the 1st HAT-1 sabotage attempt. Do you recall the fact that during this time, the police investigation wasn't done properly? To be precise, the tape had shown only Blackquill leaving the premises, but no one looked more into the tape and revealed the Phantom, until Phoenix does during the last trial. Furthermore, Ponco recognition features at that time said that 3 people were present when they discovered the body, and one of them was a detective. I mean the Phantom maybe in the police department since 2020, which would explain why this investigation was that bad. At the same time, as Edgeworth said, the body of the real Bobby Fullbright was discovered 1 year ago, from Dual Destinies, meaning that he could have been killed way before. Always on the same deduction line, Edgeworth was pretty upset when he discovered that the Phantom "wormed his way in the police department", which makes me think that he could have been here for years, not only months. It's just a hunch, a pure feeling backed up by several facts, but nothing decisive.

@@Michael_Irohazaka well, in this headcanon of mine I simply wrote it so that after her parole, Lana decided to abandon the prosecutor career and returned to the police force as a detective, and she simply works with her sister occasionally (for obvious reasons). As for the phantom, the wiki does state clearly that Bobby Fulbright died in 2027, so I don't know if the phantom was in the police department already. If he was, then he probably impersonated some other officer and later replaced Fulbright to get close to Blackquill. I'm not sure what to think myself tbh

Wow! You never seized to amaze me. You really know how to fill the gap on what happened when Bobby Fulbright was killed. I have some theories that may be reasonable for this video, specifically. I may think: 1. The Phantom have done extremely thorough research before this Event. 2. The police he infiltrated may be a direct order from someone who hired him or just a place he determined as suitable to infiltrate. Which is more suitable, I still don’t know the specific details. 3. The Phantom targets *SPECIFICALLY* at Detective Bobby Fulbright. The reasons of choosing Detective Fulbright to infiltrate the Police are: 1. Bobby’s task of being in charge of Simon Blackquill who is currently doing investigations along with Edgeworth to uncover who the Phantom is. This means that the Phantom is able to keep an eye on Blackquill as this is Fulbright’s mission. 2. Fulbright’s position as Detective which allows the Phantom to gain access to many types of information such as cases files and documents, reports, crime scenes, evidence, testimonies, databases etc. without raising many suspicions. 3. Fulbright’s profession makes it possible for the Phantom to make progress with his mission as an International Spy without much hindering because despite disguising as a Detective, the Phantom can easily slip pass many suspicions due to not having as many workloads and pressure of the occupation he pretends to have as someone who is a much higher position of the law like Edgeworth or in a lower position like a regular officer which can be a huge obstacle for his job as a spy such as having a tight schedule, going to meetings, seeing many peoples especially the press, doing paperwork, having to go to many places that is unrelated to his missions, etc. 4. Bobby Fulbright’s expressions are easy to disguise the Phantom’s identity. Particularly, his over-the-top expressions of emotions, his manner of speech and his devotion to justice make the perfect cover for the Phantom, who is the COMPLETE OPPOSITE. This means that without credible evidence or testimonies, everyone will think Detective Fulbright is the last person on Earth to be the Phantom. 5. Bobby Fulbright is not known by many people, especially those that appear during Dual Destinies. This makes it easier for the Phantom to pretend because he is not recognizable by many people. Moreover, he does not have any unique way to identify like other detectives such as Gumshoe or Ema who give out nicknames or speak in a friendly, specific manner towards specific individuals, as mentioned in the video. Thus, the Phantom was able to fool everyone, even someone who knew him before, as he can speak like the real Fulbright while calling out names formally as usual. Because if he pretends to be someone else such as Gumshoe in this video, he may become suspicious by anyone that deeply knows the person he disguises such as Edgeworth or Lana. 6. Detective Fulbright’s attire allows him to conceal himself without any suspicions. To be specific, Fulbright’s suit, minus the head, is like a Hazmat suit because it doesn’t reveal any part of his body. This prevents any DNA from the Phantom’s body like hair, sweats, skin cells, blood, etc. from falling out. In addition, Detective Fulbright is always wearing gloves, which also prevents any fingerprints from being left behind anywhere. Moreover, with his body fully sealed, the Phantom only needs to wear a mask without having to disguises the rest of his body because the body is harder to disguise than the head or face. This means that the Phantom can safely conceal his identity without fearing that his DNA will be left behind anywhere which can reveal his identity while the head is not a problem because it is literally a mask so it will not have any DNA on it while prevent sweat from forming. Overall, Detective Fulbright is the perfect target for the Phantom to overcome the following obstacles and gain the flowing goals: 1. Overseeing Blackquill. 2. Gain information. 3. Continue his mission as International Spy while in the disguise. 4. Give out the right expressions without suspicions. 5. Say the right thing in a right way because you can pretend to be someone but you are not them, meaning you don’t know everything about them. 6. Prevent any DNA on his body from falling out while only need to disguise his head. So, yeah. That is my theory and summary of how the Phantom entered the Storyline of Dual Destinies by choosing Bobby Fulbright as his disguise to infiltrate the Police. What happens after that is depicted in the Storyline of Dual Destinies.

This video popped out in my feed a few days before i completed Dual Destinies. At first i was skeptical about this video because i thought the major spoiler here was that Fullbright was gonna be killed by the Phamtom during the events of T.F.T. But the revelation of the actual Fullbright being dead long before and the fact that the actual phamtom impersonated him during ALL the game was a plot twist that actually had a real impact on me to the point where no other game of Ace Attorney could (sorry if my english is kinda bad, it's just not my native language)

I have a really dark theory surround this video . . . The Phantom killed Gumshoe before meeting Fulbright, so he could disguise as Gumshoe. After finishing murder Fulbright, The Phantom took his clothes and face identity to become Bobby. Then the dead body of Fulbright was covered with Gumshoe's clothes and face. Voila, new crime scene, 2 favourite detective died ! :((

Dude the phantom is so creepy to me. A faceless man who defies (nearly) everything it means to be human while unfeelingly committing acts that are basically terrorism straight up gives me chills. I personally find his breakdown his most disturbing moment. His movements, his dialogue, everything. He’s spent his entire life throwing away his humanity in pursuit of being one of the most terrible people alive, and only now does he realize the gravity of it all. Fear consumes him as he desperately searches for the one thing that he’s forsaken the most for several years. It’s bone chilling. In at least my opinion, the phantom is the most disturbing Ace Attorney character.

The Jury no longer believes Ashley Graydon and his last testimony because of the amount of times he lied and committed perjury during Gina Lestrade’s trial, so they don’t believe him when he says he saw Gina Lestrade shoot Pop Windibank. I think the video should be called, if the Jury got smart or wised up. And it would be so sweet to see after seeing how many times Ryunosuke Naruhodo disproved Graydon’s lies.

My headcanon when it comes to the real Bobby Fulbright is that he was actually nowhere near as dramatic and air-headed as the phantom would have us believe. The phantom had to really sell that he actually had emotions to keep people off his scent... so it makes sense that he'd naturally overcompensate in the process. The real guy though? I like to think he was earnest and passionate, but hardly a rube. A guy who truly does his detective work with excellence and seeks justice in a very real way, rather than some cartoonish and simplistic mockery of it. I even like to imagine him having different sprites for his emotions that are more toned down and sincere, were we to encounter him while he was around. Also I don't think "in justice we trust" was his real motto at all. Not only is it super corny, but... "injustice" and all lol

The way I wrote it, the phantom didn't know who was the detective in charge of Simon Blackquill, and was asking to learn this information, so that he could replace said detective and keep an eye on Blackquill. After Fulbright told him that he was the one, it was kinda over :p

I hadn't watched this one, so I fixed that now. I caught on that Gumshoe wasn't saying "pal" long before Fulbright did and immediately knew how it would happen. It also shows how Fulbright was an easier target for the phantom to mimic when compared to other characters, having failed to pull a convincing Gumshoe impression and simply lucking out that Fulbright wasn't perceptive enough to suspect him sooner.
