One of the great rock'n'roll/rockabilly pioneers and an amazing singer-songwriter, guitarist, producer (he did it all) & performer. Eddie Cochran is a legend in the UK, but an unsung hero in the USA. "Summertime Blues", "C'mon Everybody", "Something Else", "Twenty Flight Rock" & "3 Steps to Heaven" are just a few of his eternal classic songs!

@@MusicFactoids I love Eddie Cochran and Gene Vincent..A previous post said he wrote 3 Stars. He did record it and his version is the best but Tommy Dee wrote and recorded it first. I first saw Eddie in The Girl Can't Help It which was released in 1956. It also had Gene Vincent, Little Richard and The Platters as well. It was probably the first Rock and Roll movie ever made and is in color. I bought it in the 80s when it first came out on video. So, even though Elvis was the first on TV, Eddie made the first movie..In my opinion, Elvis was just an also ran..He wasn't the first..The Platters, Eddie, Gene and Bill Haley all were established when Elvis became the "King"..But of course, Chuck Berry and Bo Diddley emerged in 1955 ,so they were neck and neck with Elvis. Elvis ,like the overhyped Beatles, were shoe horned into Rock and Roll by devious methods..Neither were really that talented.

How sad. It's a shame that he and the Beatles didn't work together in some capacity. Thank you for sharing this.

I'm old enough to remember all of these great artist . I was into rock 'n'roll when I watched Ed McKenzie Dance Party every Saturday on TV in Detroit...I between 1951 and til it no longer aired, never missed it. I knew all the dances. I WATCHED Bill Haley and his Comets....and others

I was home when the news broke about Buddy....I had turned 11 in Nov '58....news didn't really cover rocking roller stars like years later. The wreck that Eddie died in might been in news a day back then..Like when many others almost zero coverage....Dale Shannon, Bobby Fuller ect ect...Real shame...they were icons....Who doesn't remember Runaway....it was used as theme of "Crime Story" series starring Dennis Farino...get show about late fifteen early sixties..

Eddie really influenced both the Beatles and the Stones, and people like Jimmy Page. Like Buddy, he would have been a huge star. The guy was just a natural in front of a band. Great songs, charisma, Eddie had it all.

Eddie Cochran was a great singer and guitarist. Many people have heard others perform his songs. UFO - C'Mon Everybody, Led Zeppelin - Somethin' Else, Montrose - Twenty Flight Rock to name a few. And countless others.
