20:49 expanding on this really good point, it always surprises me why Osana was the first rival despite being Senpai’s childhood friend- like speaking from the games logic, shouldn’t she be a more difficult rival to eliminate because she is so close to senpai? Why wasn’t a more neutral character like Amai or Asu not the first rival?!? Maybe Osana could work as the first rival but only if this week is relegated to non lethal elimination methods cause having a character this early on in the game die horrifically that is supposed to be Senpai’s closest friend makes literally no sense! So I've been working on recoding yandere simulator for a while so I can explain a lot of stuff yanderedev did WRONG when coding which results in dropped frames. ( My recoding gives me 120-250FPS around school grounds just to put it into perspective ) 1, Sakura Tree's have one pettle rendered at a time, meaning each time you look at the tree there is a unique pettle pattern. This results in your computer basically blowing itself up when you look at the trees. This is an easy fix as you can just literally add a partical modifier ( found on unity for FREE ) that fixes the issue. Yanderedev instead actually coded his own, which is probably why it drops your frames so much. 2, The school's mesh is all squished together meaning rendering basically renderes the whole school at once when loading instead of chunks so part of the school struggles to render. In video games normally this means you get missing textures or meshes ( like in roblox for example ) but due to how baked together the school is, sometimes this results in the whole school going missing for a couple frames, like seen in 16:31 Onto the art style, Alex actually gets multiple different people to make textures as well as models for him. Which is fine, a lot of big companies do this when relying on actually getting stuff done. The issue yanderedev has is he doesn't actually stick to a shading style. When I used to work for him, back when the game actually had potential, he would just say "do whatever but stick to a small pupil" for the eyes for example. Which is fine, in practice, but when getting 10 different artists to work on 10 different student, each one is going to have a different art style for the eyes. He does this for the whole game, meaning the whole game is a kitbash of multiple different art styles. Some being realistic, like the trees and some hairstyles, and other being cartoony, like some of the school props. It really shows how much he doesn't know game design- Hope this helps!

Sticking to the game (because the drama was no surprise to me. This shit was inevitable, and I do hope all victims get their justice) But what doesn't help YanSim, for me, is the fact that I was recently recommend a wonderful up coming game called Billie Bust Up. It apparently Started in 2017, so... 6 years old. Still in pre-alpha. Two demo of two different Boss fights. But HOLY CRAP is there a HUGE difference that show ACTUAL PROGRESSION. Their first demo boss fight only had storyboard cut scenes. But the boss battle itself looks and feels 70-85% finish. Has VA, a wonderful stupid catchy song. No one that I see play it complained about controls or anything. No obvious bugs or glitches that hurt the enjoyment. It's a great pre-alpha demo. That actually give you an idea of what the game will be like once finished. Then the second, more recent, boss fight demo feel EVEN MORE complete. Seems like they just didn't release the world level you have to run around in. It has a fully voice, fully animated cutscenes. And it's just amazing over all. Yansim, even nearing TEN years, is still basically a pretty looking pre-alpha test map. with a few cutscenes that have NO animations. And the first rival doesn't feel finished. With only the SPIN OFF feeling like- not a 100% complete, but still a more finished looking game. The KINDEST I can be, is a beta. Which you can, last I saw someone play it, exploit ONE elimination that makes the rivals just give up on the senpai. As if they were all the SAME DAMN CHARACTER. NONE of the eliminations connect to the rivals personality or their own unique stories. Aka YanSim... In 10 YEARS is more closer to Billie Bust up's FIRST boss demo that was (base on the creator's channel) release to the public to test out TWO YEARS AGO. TWO years between the two Boss fights. And there's CLEAR MAJOR progression to even just the cut scenes. And instead of streaming let's plays of other games. The Billie dev streams is the dev WORKING ON THE GAME. They just recently uploaded a clip of them working on one of the tutorials (while being a tutorial for young game devs) and it looks pretty good.

While I'm happy to see Alex's downfall, it upsets m how long it took for this day to come. Alex, aka Yandere Dev has done too much shit in the past that is worth noting. Whether he harassed a child, added his underaged characters in porn games, or just the panty shot thing as a whole. There's so much more he has done, but it is a LOT! Did the supporters ever think to go "Hmmm, maybe this guy is a creep and I shouldn't support his game!" I also remember when one of the more popular youtubers dismissed the (at the time) yandere dev "drama." This was around the time he bought two nintendo switches with the supporter money.

I'm reminded of the aborted partnership with TinyBuild when I consider the development state of Yandere Simulator. TinyBuild were allegedly making significant changes to the code and other things, which tells me they were a serious studio making a serious effort to release the game. If YanDev ever had any intention of this becoming a finished project, he would not have pulled out of that partnership. But the thing about finished projects is that it's awfully hard to fundraise using them, so I suppose it makes sense that he wouldn't let it become a game that is done. When I consider the non-development state of Yandere Simulator, I'm reminded that I have a nephew who's 13 years old. His interests run in many directions, and could potentially include a game like this. I'd awfully like for Alex to no longer be running a project like this for the sake of my nephew, and of anyone else around that age.

one thing ive noticed is that discussing age of consent is ALWAYS the red flag you need to be looking out for if you suspect someone to be a predatory person. if you find someone who goes from talking about fictional characters to discussing irl age of consent, definitely stay away from that person. i wish ppl would point this out more, bc time and time again you will find someone you want to just dislike based on their preferences in fiction, but its people who say stuff like this that you REALLY need to look out for and completely stay the fuck away from if you're a child online. 16:25 for anyone interested what happened here is actually an optimisation feature called Occlusion culling. The engine tries to work out if your view of certain objects are blocked by something and doesn’t render them if they are. It saves time and GPU processing which helps increase frame rate. However, it’s also common knowledge that you NEVER enable occlusion culling on see-through objects, otherwise this glitch occurs. Bravo chalice man

YandereDev is a creep and I hate his gut, What he did is inexcusablee. Sadly, what he did was most likely legal (the age of consent is 16 in most countries) which means he won't have any legal repercussion. However, people vote with their dollar and I hope the people who pledge to him will stop. I find is game to be disterbing and quite creepy, I fear that the person who back him, who are therefore creeepy won't stop financing him. Please stop helping people like him. Edit (On the same day): Did some research, phisical relationships are legal at 16 (In most countries) but not nude or online relationship so what he did was illegal, hopefully, the district attorney (U.S or E.U) or the crown (Canada, U.K or commonwealth) will try to arrest him. Also, I have an idea about how to fix the sakura three problems, but I'm not touching that mess of a game. In brief, it would require illiminating useless verticies and reducing certain texture (like the sakura pedal) to a 2d texture. Also, rendering the pedals as a group could help.

The age of consent is protection for people within a close age proximity and it is still gr00ming, unquestionably, when someone significantly older makes moves toward a 16yo, bc it relies on two very different levels of maturity and an inherent power imbalance. The age of consent being 16 doesn’t make it so that a 16yo can have sexual relations with a 35yo, it makes it so that if they consent with a 21yo or so, it can be considered valid consent and not an outright criminal act.

Hihi so ummm weird fun fact: I was one of the lead 3D character artists behind Love Letter (the Yandere Sim competitor for a brief time), and there is some weird “news” behind the project. After Apeis cancelled the project, at around 2022, Apeis decided to sell the rights to the game to me… I’m not joking, paperwork with signatures in transferral of rights were involved. However, there are some problems that I’ve faced since then: he deleted 99% of the assets, with the main character being the only remaining asset thanks to my own storage of the asset. Another problem is that my expertise is in 3D art and not programming, and since then, no programmers want to touch the project with a ten foot pole (understandably). Essentially, I have the project at hand, but I seriously don’t know what to do with it. I even made an announcement last year on the Love Letter Reddit forum that the game’s rights were transferred away from Apeis, but since then, there seems to be a curse of n the project practically.
