I love how Fujimoto is unabashedly unashamed in admitting that Makima is the kind of woman he's down bad for, but at the same time, points out just how toxic and manipulative someone like Makima can really be. At the end of the day, some fantasies should remain a fantasy.

On depression and Fujimoto: He basically stated and it appears that one of his main inspirations comes from the desire to express his own depression/ existential dread. He said something along the lines of feeling that way after doing volunteer work for disaster relief, himself and others feeling like they didn't even make a dent after working tirelessly all day, and being largely impacted by this. Aside from his pure uniqueness, talent and ability to communicate these things (not taking these things lightly), I think that's why his works are so visceral and... relatable(?) To so many people. It's very raw and fundamental to the "human condition" for lack of a better term, and uniquely exploratory of different ways of thinking and managing these questions and feelings.

But everything Fujimoto creates is so beyond fascinating, even from his very first one shots they all had the same level of insanity that makes you say WHAT THE FUCK. I think that thing he said about his readers being bored of manga rings true here. He's pushing boundaries intentionally to explore different avenues within the realm of manga, not simply because he's a nutter who got lucky with a pen and a WSJ slot. Of course, he's pushing boundaries in a way only a nutter could, but I think he's harnessed his madness in order to produce a good story and hasn't shown us even a fraction of what he's truly capable of.

I discovered Fujimoto from super eyepatch wolf. He made a video mentioning Chainsaw Man and it got me curious about it. After I finishing all of Chainsaw Man , Fire Punch and all of Fujimotos one shots (especially the more obscure ones that can't be normally found) I can defiantly say the the dude is an inspiration for me. Not only in the story telling he portrays in everything he makes, but his art is just so cool to look at. I made so many chainsaw man fan arts that I'll admit that I have an insane obsession. I don't know why that is, but I just love it that much. A lot of people that aren't familiar with Fujimotos works would write him off as a weird guy (which he is for sure) but you can't deny that the man has talent and passion for his creations. For me, Chainsaw Man felt like the fresh take on visual storytelling that I needed. These characters are relatable: Denji’s rage, Aki’s emotions - everyone is unique in their own exaggerated way. Seeing the civilians help Denji to save them was something I don’t see often (for example, society in Devilman Crybaby being divided on whether they should side with the Devilmen or not). This leads to a whole fanbase, with Denji actively trying to blow his cover and failing miserably (nearly the opposite of modern superhero movies where the general public loathe their hero). There’s a sense of hope in the mess of chaos and destruction, and I feel that Fujimoto does have a positive view of humanity as a whole, even with the jerks and douchbags. He takes a lot of tropes and flips them on their head, and I appreciate it.

near the end half of the video, it made me feel happy knowing that other people started drawing or something because of chainsaw man. the strange thing is I also get so emotional over a bunch of drawings, it quite literally changed my life as well. One of my friends showed me the art of 3d modeling, and I wasn't too interested until he told me I should try and model Denji. Long story short, I've become obsessed with trying to perfectly recreate that in 3d, it was super fun and I think that more people should find something like chainsaw man and Dandadan to inspire them to do something new.

I've never done one of these donos but I just had to this time. I've read hundreds of Manga over the last decade and fujimoto has been the one of the few mangakas to just live rent free in my head since I learned about them. I'm glad you and other creators can make videos like this that make it feel like I'm not alone in how amazing fujimoto is as an author. As a fujimoto fan since learning about fire punch years ago and then all his other works I just knew he would take over the medium eventually. And I won't lie it feels really good that the anime is doing so well so now other people can become just as enraptured with his work as I am. I really do see his name up with some of the greats of Manga down the line. Love your content dude, keep it up.

Damn, I love this video. It gives a semi comprehensive look ino the background through an entertaining lense but also just includes a lot of stuff that the creator just really liked. Gives a heartfelt impression that it was made not through some boring schematic which you sometimes get the feeling of in videos this long but that it was created through a process of sharing what the creator actually cares about and finds entertaining. It's like one of those rare times when a friend shows you their new obsession but they somehow never bore you with talking about it. Reminds me of some of Internet Historian's stuff like going camping at the end of the world.

That was a great (mental) breakdown/video essay. When I saw the hidden Garfield I thought of Super Eyepatch Wolf and actually had to check the channel to see if it was him, lmao. The style was so similar I got bamboozled. You did well! 😂 Idk what else to say after watching that, but the way Fujimoto writes his characters in Chainsaw man feels so unfiltered and genuine in my opinion. So for the most part that's why I love it! Like characters just say or do shit seemingly out of nowhere, but it still makes sense for them and isn't just for shock value. After a while it's just expected in this story that the characters do things completely based on impulse with no way you could have expected that result. It's crazy!!!

My way of viewing CSM as a person who enjoys story teling, and writing, is that, chain saw man is so loved because Fujimoto expresses his ART in a simple, direct, direct way. He does what the fuck he wants, and that atracts very of the people that have that "artist" inside of them, that will of taking what is deep on your soul/disturbed mind, and deliever it as a story. That why in my vision CSM(ans fujimoto works) have so much content like animations, memes , fan drawing, imense fan base of every character(and non character/Kobenis car S2). Fujimoto is very good at his craft, that atracts people who like a good story, but, he is indeed "raw", he expresses the way he wants and he knows that, and that fascinates us unkown artists, with crazy ideias and the will to create. Sorry for the bad language; im from Portugal, and im not very proeficient in the art of using english language, discovered your chanel lately and liked your way of view things, ur nuts man i always laugh with your content , its hard to find good content creators lately. As someone who's losing his mind at and alarming rate and probably doesn't even have much time before completely losing it, Chainsaw Man has been amazing. I've done nothing but reading CSM in my free time for the past 2 weeks and it feels nice to find characters as deranged as myself. Also it's very easy to find Denji relatable, the guy just wants a normal life and would be happy with "just normal". I can get behind that. Of course I'm not forgetting the awesome story, really cool lore, great characters, great sense of humor from Fujimoto because you never know what's going to happen in the next page and the fact that it's not your typical story, no one here is safe, it gets crazier with each chapter. It's been the wildest ride I've ever had while reading something. Also the same thing happened to me, while reading it I forgot about the rest of the world, that was pretty cool.
