There's a lot I really don't agree with in that list, so I'll drop mine here: 1. Nas 2. Biggie 3. Jay-Z 4. 2Pac 5. André 3000 6. Eminem 7. Kendrick Lamar 8. MF Doom 9. Lil Wayne 10. Kanye West Honorable mentions: Black Thought, Rakim, Ice Cube, Scarface, Ghostface Killah, Method Man and J.Cole.

Biggie smalls. And I am a west coast Bay Area resident. Let me say why biggie is the best. And what I am going by is rap. Not activism, not how many records made. Not because of my own opinion not because of color. 2pac isn’t number one for these reasons. It took him 4 albums to taken seriously and that album I believe is his best. That me against the world. 2pac has also a basic cadence and it’s never changed. He isn’t versatile in that aspect. I’m a producer and only people that are either producers or artists themselves know what the cadence is and what I mean. 2 pac also didn’t have much of a huge vocabulary he in all his songs use the same type of basic words. For instants can anyone tell me how many times pac used the word PAIN. In his music? Isn’t there other adjectives or other describing words for pain? What Tupac did was use beef to sell records. He and everyone else knows this. Eminem is where he is not because of him. More so for DR DRE. Without dr Dre there is no Eminem. His albums that aren’t produced by Dre in my opinion is weak. Sales? He sell no matter what because he a white dude. Just the fact that the white people hold him in a high standard also dismisses him: let’s me honest who’s playin em in the hood? If he ain’t with Dre he’s doing white boy rap: Eminem also is where he is because of the absence of greatness and that’s after big and pac was gone. Does anyone know or remember how it was after the loss of those two? Everyone was looking for that….. who’s up now??? That was the time when the south Atlanta and other people from the Midwest also got they opportunity in the absence of them two. Nas I like nas because yeah he is bad motherfucker. And nas said something that I never heard him say about any other rapper. He said not long ago on an interview. They were discussing why nothing was done with or on a biggie album. He said it’s not that it wasn’t happening. We actually tried and after big would do his verse… I made up a excuse that I was too high. Well I came back again on another date. Still I didn’t have anything I wasn’t high. It was flat out shocking how this dude was coming with fire verse without no pen. So that never happened??? In the A&E DOCUMENTARY ON BIGGIE. Nas is in there and he says BIGGIE is the king and that’s not because he passed it’s its because he is…. He’s got the skill and the records to prove it. Today I don’t hear or ever heard big do a wack verse. I never heard anyone. Say big had a whack verse…. People say big was killed because of Tupac. That is a myth and really a lie. PAC was killed because he had many enemies. There was plenty of reasons for people to want to kill tupac. He done said lots of things that ordinary people do not have the balls to say. The way pac was moving, I knew he was one day gonna get his. Sometimes you just need to understand that you can’t always say shit in California and people gonna let it slide. No. Biggie was killed for a couple reasons. Puff daddy wanted him dead because he was coming for his publishing and was gonna leave bad boy. Not only that but deathrow wanted him dead because of what they say happened to tupac. Which is a lie. Trying to say east coast did that’s when really it was big that was hand picked for this beef. He didn’t release who shot ya. Diddy did that and how he did it was because he owned bigs music. Big has no say so. Really if you don’t go by bs. You come Up with he was killed because of jealousy. No matter which kind but killed over jealousy? That means he had to much creativity and ideas to be left alive.

Valid points. My respect for Big is abundant. How would you compare him to like a... Weezy, or Kendrick. You mentioned creativity and flow and cadence. Personally, Lil Wayne was and still is hot, he just doesn't have mainstream appeal anymore and that's why I think he gets overlooked in the GOAT debates nowadays. What's your take on that?
@cloudysky1910
@cloudysky1910 4 ай бұрын
Coz Big was amazing at story telling too. I know Kendrick is skilled at that too. He is also quite creative and has shown his versatility multiple times. I mean, just look at all the vibes of the tracks he dropped on Drizzy. I grew up on the late 00s and 10s hip hop so I don't think what I have to say on the earlier years of HH hold weight. I know all the guys were cold back then, like J, Nas, Andre, MF, Cube, and the likes. I think it's a nice mental exercise to argue about it but I don't think we will ever have a conclusive answer that's unbiased. Numbers wise Em is up there, and when it comes to the street cred, there are so many rappers ou there with so many differnt skills that it's hard go actually shoot a dart and land on the bullseye of the GOAT.

I think there should just be a cluster classification of the outliers. Like have a "in contention for the GOAT" rappers and "not in contention for the GOAT rappers"

Y'ALL THINK ANYBODY THAT DOESN'T HAVE A NEWYORK ACCENT, YOU CONSIDER AS '' BASIC'' CADENCE .. 2PAC HAD FAR RANGE AND MORE MEANINGFUL CONTENT. 2PAC DID THE LYRICAL MIRACLE RHYME SCHEMES EARLY IN HIS CAREER AS FAR AS WITH HIS GROUP ''STRICTLY DOPE'' TO HIS DEBUT SOLO ALBUM ''2PACALYPSE NOW'' ALL THE WAY TO HIS ALBUM ''STRICTLY 4 MY N!GGAZ'' 2PAC MATURED AND BECAME MORE BLUNT WITH HIS MESSAGING AND RHYME SCHEME.. ON THE ''THUG LIFE'' COMPILATION.. AND ALSO BY THE TIME HE DROPPED THE ALBUM '' ME AGAINST THE WORLD' 2PAC LATER RETURNED TO COMPLEX RHYMES SCHEMES ON HIS UNRELEASED SONGS FOR THE ''ONE NATION'' ALBUM. THE REASON IS, HE VALUED THE REVOLUTIONARY MESSAGE OVER THE 'PARTY & BULLSHIT'' IS BECAUSE 2PAC'S EGO WAS NOT SELF SERVING BUT OF BEING OF SERVICE THE PEOPLE.

@@computablu you don’t know what your talking about. I got to meet him twice. you don’t understand the meaning of cadence when it comes to spitting rhymes. It has nothing to do with accent. I don’t even think you know what range is when it comes to writing a song. Range is a substitute for personality as the ability to cross over genre lines. 2pac on every album on deathrow was the same personality. Tupac didn’t get the chance to rap under a different name because he was already dead before the release of killuminati. Tupac never wrote nor created personalities. You all heard the bone thugs interview when they said pac told them I’m gonna rap how I rap I’m not changing it. Basically a sign of no interest to enhance his skill as a rapper. In case you all didn’t know. Tupac was more enamored with his acting. Muta says it himself. Look your gonna sit here and deny because you are a fanatic. Fanatics don’t know the get down in music. You guys just turn it on and are mind blown by the controversial shit he says. It’s fact that many of his fans are just like him. They thirst for power and want to be the center of attention. The loud individual in the room if you will. You talk about strictly dope? lol. That wasn’t his group first of all. He was part of that group. Ray Luv my home boy from the V put him in that group and also associated Tupac with DJ khyree and YBB RECORDS. I know about 2pac more than any of y’all fans. I know factual shit. Tupacs records although he may have had a couple cool songs on each of his first 3 records. They wasn’t that good. And in the end he had no message and he was a full blown mob piru. He died in what appeared to be gang activity. I like 2pac and he has some dope music. But I’m not about to say his game is impeccable and he has everything and what it means to be the greatest. You or any other Tupac fanatic ever look up Ray Luv? Go look him up and listen to how he raps. That’s where he got his style from and he ran off and out of the bay and took that style with him. 2pac didn’t sound like he did anymore once he left the bay and his style changed to a more gangster type sound. He don’t sound like strictly 4 my niggas and earlier. He sounds like Ray luv. Go do the research I know the guy as where he hit it from.

@@docsylva2876 🙄😒 2Pac aka MC NEWYORK uniquely with his own sound and style, soaked up the game. Like many rappers before and after him, was inspired and influenced by his peers. In 2Pac you could hear Richie Rich, Ray Luv, Spice 1, E-40, Paris , C-Bo, BIGSYKE, In his earlier years you an hear LL COOL J, Scarface, Ice- T, etc.. Ray Luv wrote the first verse for the song Trapped.. RL decided not to use it because at first he thought it was too preachy. Ray Luv balled the paper up and through it away on the floor. Tupac picked it and told RayLuv he would use it because the lyrics were too important to through away. 🥱 Don't get the whole laughing emoji.. did you thought you had actudid something there ?? RayLuv himself would slap the taste out your mouth and break your fingers for typing that dumb sh!t. You LAME@ss 🤡. Foh
