I know Fincher doesn't talk about it, but the Assembly cut of Alien 3 is really good. It's dark and nihilistic. It's bleak and depressing but that's the style it is going for with the religious undertones. In the assembly Cut you get to know the convicts more and I particularly love the performance of Charles Dutton. It also has Charles Dance fron Game of Thrones. It's very bleak but it has a great cast and some cool ideas.

I agree. The theater cut left a bad taste in people's mouths. I get killing off the Aliens fam is upsetting, but this universe isn't about happy endings. It's drenched in dread and horror, and Alien 3 does that well. It's like, no matter what Ripley does, she can never win, but she will always put her life on the line to kill the killers, and that's compelling. The Assembly Cut really elevates this film. The Alien looks better, the characters are fleshed out more, and it's overall a better experience. It would be cool to get a Fincher cut, but he hates this shit so I doubt that's even a thought in his mind.

For too many years, Scott's fan-bois have elevated his contributions to the creation of Alien. Scott, himself, has more recently tried to actively retcon the franchise to his own vision. Lastly... We keep getting Aliens and Predator movies - WE NEED TERMINATOR VS ROBOCOP! Write it like a dumb 80's action movie, too. Just - Terminator goes back in time to do Terminator stuff. Robocop is trying to cop stuff, Terminator shows up to Terminate the perp Robocop is trying to apprehend, Robocop has to PROTECT and serve. It's about Fatherhood, basically. Make it 90 minutes and under $100 million, 90% practical effects, 10% CGI, LOTSA explosions. You know what? I'm feeling lucky - Lord, if you're out there, make this Quentin's 10th. AMEN

I was actually at the LA comic con when they screened Predator 2 before its release, complete with a Q&A after the screening: The folks from the crew that were there for the QA brought up the skull, not the audience. They were actively hinting that an AvP could/would happen themselves. (Not saying we didn't all want it, or that other Q&As and screenings weren't what prompted them to do so, though! I just found it interesting that they were already capitalizing on that easter egg at comic cons before it ever hit the theater)

I never put this together before .... The Chinese name of the franchise is 異形 which means strange/foreign shape. I never realized that they directly translated xenomorph. 😮

This is one of those franchises that will always keep getting new adaptations (some a lot better than others) and it's super fun to watch all the different directions each director takes it. It's fun as well because there is an infinite amazing of movies that can be made about aliens

I love these franchises(alien and predator), they have very expansive lore that you can delve into but the development and production process of all of these films are also just as interesting. Just the first film has a bunch of conversation starters as far as the making of the movie goes.

Thank you for the history of the Alien franchise. This is interesting to watch. Alien was and still is a good movie. That was part of Ridley Scott's glory days. I feel for H.R. Giger. When he got off the plane at LAX airport. The airport people was worried about his bags. Dan O'Bannon and Shsset had to come. To explain the movie. That shows Giger is a artist. I love Aliens too. James Cameron did a great job. Ripley is my favorite character. Sigourney Weaver is my favorite actress. I do feel very protective of the alien franchise.

AVP1&2 & ARE SEPARATE FRANCHISES from the alien franchise!!! There is prometheus, alien covenant, alien, aliens, aliens 3, and alien 4 resurrection, now including alien romulis! Now, avp 1&2 are SEPARATE they rewrite the past to creat it's story! Then, there is the predator franchise where xenomorphs do exist. All 3 are separated franchises. There are no predators in the ALIENS cinematic universe! They do exist together in the predator cinematic universe! The history of how the xenomorph is found and used is different in all 3 franchises, so let's normalize the fact that there are 3 separate franchises that include Xenomrphs!! Stop throwing avp in with aliens or predator, it is its own franchise!

Face huggers are not injecting eggs into people. Chest bursters always take on genetic traits of the host, so whatever the face hugger injects, it's genes are not yet final. In Covenant we see that all it took was black goo spores drifting into a guy's ears for a baby protomorph to form inside of him. Shaw in Prometheus said her reproductive system was infertile, but after Holloway ejaculated in her, a baby trilobite formed. I would argue that Holloway's sperm and Shaw's eggs did not make the trilobite baby, I think it is just the presence of black goo. I think face huggers are injecting black goo.

I think a movie or a series of movies is much better when all the questions are not answered. I hate when a movie or TV series hand feeds you everything and you do not have to think for yourself. They could still make a prequal and use a young actor to play Ripley and show like a late teen or early 20's version of her and who knows where they could take it. We all know Hollywood, they can just not stop themselves from making money on movies from our childhood. I am just glad that no remake of JAWS was and will never be made as long as Steven is still alive.
