The AMG GT R is nicknamed the 'Beast of The Green Hell' and it has quickly become one of the most desirable supercars on the market. Thoroughly developed from the ground up by AMG, the GT R has become a serious contender to the likes of the more expensive Ferrari 458 Speciale, McLaren 675LT and recently the Lamborghini Huracan Performante. Like all of these limited-edition supercars the AMG GT R is a track focused supercar built for the road.
The GT R has several highlight unique features over the GT S variant including increased power to 577bhp, massive carbon fibre rear-wing to compliment the active aerodynamics and is also the first Mercedes-AMG to feature rear-axle steering. A new central dial labelled “TC” allows the driver to choose from the 11 different traction control settings, allowing the driver to build confidence and gradually explore the cars full potential, depending on experience and conditions.
Even with the use of turbochargers the 4.0L V8 must be one of the best sounding V8s on the market with its triple exit exhaust offering distinctly raucous AMG notes. Offering high levels of driver convenience and technology combined with brutal pace and track capability, as proved when it broke the Nürburgring production car lap record, the AMG GT R provides a well-rounded package and really does offer huge value for money when compared with its Italian competition.

Exactly. I kept seeing it on the freeway and it always drew my gaze. Most cars look better in photos than in person, but this car is the exact opposite. The presence it has on the road is amazing. The width, the big grill, the long hood, big hips in the rear, and last but not least the curvaceous roof line. I think the wing completes the look, whereas on others it would distract from the body lines. I found automotive art when I drive to work, now I can't help but stare every time I spot them. This is an all time beauty!

I remember watching this video two years ago as i started my GTR search and now I have my AMG GTR in Green Magno in my garage. So many of these cars are beat up and it took me two years to find one to my liking with the options and low miles, the car is simply incredible!

I'll go for the green magno paint , let the beast live up to its name . The design of the car is pretty loud and it sounds loud too . Might as well have a loud colour to put on top .

I personally would go with as little tech as possible on track variant such as the GTR. Make it more future proof as well!

The tech you can opt out of, will not change anything in terms of how "safe" it is for the future. It will not really make the car lighter either, just more annoying to use. Why not get Apple Car play for example? It's an amazing grand tourer.

Thanks Tom. Hugely helpful. I adore the blue and that would be my first choice but as you say, that colour is very rare. (Which makes it more desirable) Imagine that with all the yellow contrast stitch on the inside and yellow callipers. I think it woudl set it off perfectly. Especially with the yellow AMG embroidary on the bucket seat. Find me one of those and I'll be right there!

Its great, biggest issue I have is owning a c63. Sure its on another lvl but I would go for a R8 or Porsche to have a truly different experience. I guess thats the downside of using 1 high performance engine for the whole lineup.

I love how everyone who boast about carbon brakes says it's got better stopping power Then they are corrected that stopping power comes from the tire grip, not the brakes Then they stand corrected and say yes, but repeated braking like track driving, these are the brakes to have Then an actual track nut comes over and says, no, because a set of carbon replacements is over $20k. Even Porsche cup cars use steel rotors.

As there is probably about only 1% of drivers that could use this cars performance. You might as well just go for a regular amg GT. They start at about 46k. Which really won't help you heat your home and pay the bills.

I thought ceramic breaks don’t actually give you better stopping power? Doesn’t it just prevent you from stepping on a flat pedal after high speed use?

When the brakes are warm the stopping power is almost the same. But under extreme conditions and for track days the performance of ceramics remains constant whereas steel brakes start to fade after a few hard brakings. Ceramic discs also last longer and produce less dust. But the downside, besides the high initial price, is the lack of feel when they are cold. For daily use I would take the normal steel brakes and save 5000 quid.

I have them on my SL63 R231 - code B07. I can promise you they are much much better than the steel ones, at any given temperature. The stopping power is immense, I am constantly looking in my rearview mirror, afraid to be rear-ended, because no one else on the road can stop as quick as me.
