Yoko Taro created the Coelacanth and the Coelacanth machine just to spite me personally. I’ve gotten every other fish in the game, even MULTIPLE swordfish, two faces, and swordfish machines, (which theoretically should be rarer drops, according to your guide) but for some reason my most worthy adversary has proven to be the coelacanth and it’s machine counterpart. Even now it eludes me. Cheers to this guide

I recently found out that the exact droprates for each fishing spot were obtained a couple of years ago by datamining the game files. There are some minor deviations from the information presented in the video, but nothing major. Amazing work on this video, not only on the time-consuming data but also on your editions and how you made it just like the game's UI, not only extremely useful but just beautiful to look at. This guide is awesome, I like to fish to fund the chips and chip upgrades so I can somewhat cheese the game on hard but I wanna 100% this game sometime in the future. Very helpful. I put the game off for 5 years; it’s my first time playing it as of right now.

How do you get to the city ruins underground lake?

Once there's a hole in the city ruins there will be 3 passageways which open up. One is at the very bottom of the pit, which leads to story stuff One is a concrete pipe, which leads to the flooded city part One is a concrete pipe with some water coming out, you need to jump to reach it. this is the one you need, it will will eventually lead to that lake

So, how did you decide how many fish to find before calling an area complete? I am highly interested in the statistics of this. And I wonder how long it took you to get a swordfish and a swordfish machine. Neither have come for me, and I am going on three hours. Lol

If you are interested in the catch percentages, the exact droprates for each fishing spot were datamined a couple of years ago. Check the pinned comment for a link the resources spreadsheet. For the methodology used for this guide, I kept fishing at each fishing spot until I caught at least two of each of the rare fish. (i.e. Beetle Fish, Swordfish, etc…) Additionally, I wanted at least 50 data points per fishing spot in case there weren’t any especially rare drops. If I remember correctly, this took about 50 hours combined for all fishing spots. Speaking from personal experience, the Swordfish and its machine variant were especially difficult to catch the second time. Hopefully you’ll be able to catch them both soon!
