One thing I meant to mention: obviously trading Trae makes no sense for ATL if they can't get their 2025/26 picks back from SAS. 2025 is unprotected and 2026 is a swap. If they can do their version of the Mikal Bridges trade with this deal and a Trae trade to SAS, I'd like this a lot more
@blablablaa143 ай бұрын
Also Spurs have their 2027 first also unprotected. Spurs own the Hawks, and have repeatedly stated "Trae young sucks, we got our PG in Castle, we don't want no shorties"

I'm a Spurs lifelong fan and we don't want Trae. He's small and a defensive liability, not to mention his high salary that will kill the Spurs cap space. Our 1st round pick Castle will be able to handle the situation within a year. He's big, strong and defends. He needs to work on his shot, but so did Kawhi when he arrived in San Antonio. Go Spurs Go!

Love this trade for the Pelicans and i actually like it for the hawks. Dejounte fits New Orleans WAY better than Atlanta and Atlanta did a form of addiction by subtraction. New Orleans got a perfect fit point guard for nesrly nothing. A+ for Pelicans and B+ for Hawks.

Brandon Ingram is probably their best player. Why trade him? Use Zion at the 5 and Murphy at 4. Zion is big enough to rag doll 90% of NBA centers. If size is a problem then CJ should be benched.

Good job Hawks..1st round pick and a promissing young player who plays good defense in the backcourt + 1st round picks...Nobody knows how good those draft picks are really going to be.
@henrywatts65333 ай бұрын
C for the Hawks. B+ for Pels. Hawks need to find someone to fleece for Trae Young. You're not winning with him as your number #1 especially with a young team
@jbwuzhere68193 ай бұрын
Dejounte was a poor fit with Trae, actually Kevin Huerter fit much better despite being the lesser player of the two. This trade eliminates the question of are they building around Murray and it adds depth on the bench and defensive help on the perimeter. They also recouped a couple of first rd picks and managed to shed some salary. Hopefully this sets the stage for a larger trade involving Capela or Hunter or both.

CJ sucked in the playoffs. He should come off the bench at this point in his career. Idk if that would solve all of their problems but it’s a good start… even though Murray is average at best.

Can’t really say who won or lost, until the picks are made. If the lakers miss the playoffs next season and end up with a high lottery pick, the hawks got exactly what they wanted. Trae and Murray don’t work together

This draft class is not as bad as we think. Zacc, Sarr, Clingan, Edey, Hollins, Castle, and some others are going to put on a show.🎉😊

I really wanted Jazz to go in for Murray. There isn't much playmaking and Lauri, Sexton and Murray would had a nice fit in theory, specially considering Jazz having drafted so many complimentary wingers with Hendricks (last season) and now Cody Williams and Kyle Filipowski. If Kessler had a sophomore slump, and can take a another leap. Jazz really would had potentially really good team with DeJounte. Pels didn't overpay to get Murray, but Jazz could had easily afforded this with ridulous future draft capital.
@denzel88273 ай бұрын
The jazz would be better off trading lauri collins clarkson and sexton. They’re no where near contention but they have some of the strongest trade pieces in the entire league and an extremely young core. There’s no point to force a superteam that will fail miserably when everyone in the west and east are starting to become wildly stacked
@konzza3 ай бұрын
@@denzel8827 Yes, but no. Collins probably isn't a positive trade asset with his huge contract. Lauri should been traded away earlier, while he had more time left with his bargain of contract and not entirely sure how highly Sexton would be appraised as a trade asset either, even considering his unexpentantly good season and contract up for extention within a year
@denzel88273 ай бұрын
@@konzza aside from Collins all of them would be fairly easy to trade. Markkanen could easily grab them 3 or 4 first rounders worth and sexton should at least be able to get one. Jordan clarkson is a vet that can generate easy offense and collins, while overpriced, is extremely efficient for a wing of his caliber. He had a season dam near averaging 60/40/80 splits and anchoring the hawksdefense with Clint as well. If the jazz want any chance at cooper flagg or anyone of great worth, they’re gonna need to trade everyone that doesn’t fit the timeline, especially lauri to the thunder, because they need their pick back desperately.

Jazz is a team that is about 3 good players away from anything serious. They have far bigger problems than just missing a playmaker.

Murray will enable CJ to play his natural role. He crashed and burned last year or maybe it was just giving up when Zion went down

Its not that Trae is worth less, Dejounte is just on a better team friendly contract. Trading Trae would yield a much better return.

Bad trade for the hawks especially if their trading trae young because if they are going on a full rebuild they need to trade trae young to the spurs to get their picks back

Not bad for the Hawks. I think the package has similar value to what they give to Spurs. Dyson Daniels would be good fit with Trae if he stays. 2025 is a good draft year as well. Hawks wouldn't be that bad before 2027 with Risacher which the picks given to Spurs wouldn't be that valuable.

Its not a similar package. Hawks gave up 4 of their own picks that are lightly protected and a player This trade is only 2 picks and none of them are the Pelicans and are projected to be late firsts. Horrible return for a player they traded away a lot for.
