I worked on this movie and can say a lot of the movie got cut. Monique’s character had a storyline and a final scene that I’m not sure I can legally say. The movie had a lot of things that didn’t make the final film, which in my opinion made the viewers miss getting a chance to get to know these characters.

I will say as a child of the 90’s the imagination of the scary killer is gone. A lot of the new stuff everything seems like internal struggles as if we can create our own demons which is why things don’t seem as scary but more psychological.

I really don't know what the viewers are supposed to expect from the ratchet mom now that the demon is vanquished, because prior to their exposure to the devil that whole family was a shyt show😂 #fixitsatan😂😂

Okay, i subbed to Netflix and I have to say, Lee is almost as bad as Tyler with writing blaq woman characters! The Ebony character was so one dimensional, like wtf?!? He's so weirdly obsessed with making bw look destitute in every scene they're featured! Why is that necessary ugh. Ebony could've been played by Halle Berry reprising her role from Monsters Ball😂 It really made it difficult for the plot to progress since Ebony and her household were so one note. None of the acts were organically structured nor had any flow! There was so much potential lost bc (I think) this man hat3s blaq people. And he is notorious for asking for favors of A list blaq talent to play lackluster C-characters.. and what's worse is THEY DO IT! Sometimes for under $50k😂😂😂

I’ve watched a lot of horror movies. I really liked this movie. I compared it to _The Babadook_ and how the evil presence is a larger metaphor for grief. In the case of _The Deliverance_ it’s alcoholism, and physical and emotional abuse. Few horror movies depict this in black motherhood, so I liked that. I wasn’t expecting many frights or fears. I know what to expect from Lee Daniels: Wild casting choices, campy dialogue and scenes, and truly earnest melodrama.

Movie was better than expected but then again, I didn’t know what to expect other than Lee somehow getting Glenn to wear a 27 piece shake and go wig. The cast was great and did the best that they could with the script which didn’t seem cohesive. I think they spent too much time on aspects of the story that weren’t relevant and didn’t do a good job building on other aspects that would’ve tied things together.

@@HeitCheri I can't speak for other families but I noticed a shift in what we watched during family gatherings like during the holidays. When I was growing up, we watched R-rated movies like anything Eddie Murphy was in, and violent stuff like Robocop, Nightmare on Elm Street, Friday the 13th, and Predator. Nowadays when my family gets together, theres always a Madea/Tyler Perry movie or play on the television. Its really strange to me since all us kids of the family are grown adults at this point.

Soooo, I actually like this movie better than the true story. What I mean is I loved the actors in the movie and their portrayal of their characters and the plot was straight forward. Just gave a little slightly better than a B movie (but not A list). And it has given some great commentary for everyone. All that said, the real story....sighhhh....I think the real mother was "likely" abusing her kids and she was behind on bills and I ALSO think the mom had a mental illness or something. I think she and her mom and kids covered for her or were forced to cover for her because she used this as a way to get out of troubles she was going through...or maybe she didn't even know she was doing this and people around her just covered because they knew she would lose her kids if they didn't. Also to my point, it was said that she moved several times in one year. That sounds a bit reckless or maybe irresponsible. Also-Also, this allegedly happened in 2011 into 2012. We commonly had cell phones and they were able to record and people even used them to go online and all that at that time. Latoya Ammon states that she and a room full of other people were witness to her daughter levitating over a bed in front of them and NOBODY has it recorded. Of all of the strange/alleged occurrences, NOBODY has a recording of anything? The kids left her and went to foster care....Did the foster care people state any levitating or walking backwards up walls or anything like that? Obviously, I am a hard core skeptic, but this is far beyond my skepticism. Nothing supernatural happened. Likely the all too common abuse as we have seen it play out before. I hope everyone involved is doing well today.
