"Demna didnt look at these 4 years as a waste of time, he looked at them as the length of time it took to figure out what he actually wanted to do, or at the very least, what he didn't want to do". All of your videos give such insight to life in general. They are truly inspirational. We all face these hurdles and challenges in the process of life. Demna’s couture for Balenciaga has been breathtaking, truly sublime, and some of the first couture that I’ve seen that feels grounded in the needs of the wearer more than the observer. But if the recent holiday campaign is the sort of thing that must coexist with that work then it’s just not worth it. I hope Demna and Balenciaga take some time to seriously think about how they take up space in the world.

Demnna himself has said that he uses his dark past (war and suffering) as an inspiration for his clothes. Hence the snowstorm and the drenches. All of this playing into a bigger trend of our day and era : making money from your negative emotions. I admire your knowledge and thank you for developping all these documentaries. Although, I would like to add something about Demna's style. I personally don't love his creations for what strictly concerns the clothing themselves, but I think that Demna is the best in organizing shows and realizing garments which make us reflect on the world's current affairs. One of the examples could be the Balenciaga FW22 show, which was presented immediately after the beginning of the war in Ukraine. This show was based on a precise aesthetics whose purpose was to make people understand the situation of the country and its tragedy. Much people could describe Demna's work as dark and tacky, but I think that his goal is to go beyond the simple clothing in order to represent a precise message on our society.

Designing around reputation vs selling/controversy will be interesting to see by Demna. Especially since the focus at Balenciaga has been always teetering the line. Unfortunately, they’ve gone too far and they must change up their strategy. The loss of both Kim and Kanye will also be interesting as they brought so much attention to the brand. However, they may not have spokespeople on their level. With Kim Being able to just dump them and move on and Kanye being such a volatile figure.

Martine Rose contributed alot to the Balenciaga menswear. You can see it in the sports jackets, scarfs ect. In Camden Market about 15yrs ago, they used to sell simular teddybear bags on some of the stalls. They reminded me of Marilyn Manson or Siouxsie Sioux. Also I remember Kate Moss on the cover of The Face, aged 14yrs with her top off, tits out and all. I think the fashion industry has a problem in general. Raf Simons at Dior used a 15yr old model in a see threw top. The list is endless.

considerations: the concept of "Anti Fashion" was absorbed by Vivienne Westwood in the 70s and it has its revival in the 80s with Margiela. After those two brands interventions for the term coinage it lost its meaning, to the point that even the Clochard inspired collection of Galliano for Dior, we are talking year 2000, couldn't have been possibly defined like that: Too demode'! Second: the "sock shoe" was first presented by Fendi, in high heels version, which I saw it in Paris in 2017,together with the first Vetements items for me, that surprised me for the level of bad craftsmanship combined with outrageous prices. The Fendi sock-stilettos were really new and appealing, pity the 1700 euros tag. So what did they at Vet? substitute the sneakers sol to the colorful Fendi stiletto, make it in black, print a white Balenciaga print, and Voila', they sold the cheap footwear in the 10.000 amount of copies. Just here, in Amsterdam, you could see them on every pusher and his girlfriend working by AH, around! So everybody knew he had paid 800 + 800 euros to fetch them...
