It's not in the middle of nowhere, though. There are buildings and busy streets not far away. Yes, it's got trees and stuff, but it's not "in the deep woods". Edit: Not to say there aren't animals there (wildlife even lives in city centers), just that it isn't super rural.

I live in Texas and made a point to go by bridge while yelling HAIL SHANE last summer. Nothing happened. I even slept on it in a sleeping bag, I met a lot of cool homeless people, who told me that they lived there and remember you guys filming, they also say nothing supernatural happens. They also caught me a fish from the brook and fried it up for me with butter, lemon and garlic it was delicious, they told me to come back and tell their stories.

This will always be my favorite Unsolved episode, so much better than anything Watcher produced. Ghost Files never clicked, it was boring and overproduced. All we ever wanted was Ryan being scared and Shane joking around, just them and a camera person or two. So sad to see them crash and burn. At least we still have Unsolved to rewatch. The nostalgia kind of stings now though :(

I told my mom about this episode and she told me that when she was little, her town had a similar Goatman story (but a farm instead of a bridge). Her dad found out about it and yelled at her and her siblings because it was actually just an elderly disabled man (his cane made the weird hoof sounds) and these kids ended up harassing him because of goatman-demon rumors.

I'm glad at least your family was debriefed on it, I feel like there are probably a lot of cases that are based in complete misunderstanding and demonizing, literally, unusual (to the average able-bodied person/NT) traits or effects of dif types of disabilities. I have several of the "scary crazy person" disorders and there's certainly a normalization of making scary stories or lore surrounding xyz ppl or conditions (I just give mental stuff of my own as an example bc it's all I can ref from personal experience) made up by people who don't know better and it spreads through some form of confirmation bias when people try to confirm. I hope that guy got to rest and be left alone by the ppl harassing him before he passed away
