sad fact: families of patients/victims have been trying to erect a disability museum here forever and it has been blocked, and was eventually bought by the private contractor who opened it as a halloween attraction to make a bunch of money. people wanting to preserve the memory are super against the attraction, mostly bc it makes a mockery of a sick/disabled folks. i went before i knew and it was a great haunted house honestly, but in retrospect i definitely wish i had given money to the preservation/memorial initiative instead

as a person who works with people with developmental disabilities, the horrors that happened at Pennhurst are not uncommon even today. Just 5 years ago, one of my participants had their shoulder blade broken by a member of staff trying to restrain them. My participant is NOT violent and would never hurt anyone. He wasn’t going to harm himself. The staff just wanted to do it. These people get a sick sort of pleasure from putting themselves above these people who have likely suffered all kinds of abuse at their hands, and the hands of others. These people exacerbate the issues that the patients already have. So many patients i know have panic attacks and flash backs to their abuse in these kinds of home.

They actually are kind of feeding on the fear, the people is scared of them the more energy they will gain to actually starting to mess around or even show themselves if they have enough energy, that's why they often kept on messing with the people that are scared the most because they kept feeding them energy, while they won't do it to skeptics or people like Shane because they'll just waste their energy. It's literally scanning for radio transmissions. You'll pick up radio stations, walkie talkies, aircraft and controllers, emergency services, baby monitors, anything! The idea that we should assume every random noise is a ghost is ridiculous. The entire idea of the box is designed to induce false positives. And if you listened to it without the subtitles you'll realise those tiny noises could be ANYTHING, they just use suggestive subtitles to make you interpret it that way.

If i was a ghost i would certainly not waste ‘energy’ on a guy that doesn’t believe i exist when there is plenty of other dudes that also come in with the same attitude. And theoretically ghosts can more easily target those who are afraid and more approachable. (In Chinese culture spirits are believed to can be scared off by not fearing them and being loud towards them). Ryan doesn’t chop up EVERYTHING he hears to being a ghost. There is many times where he admits that a noise with an easy explanation isn’t really paranormal. He’s scared in these places he jumps easily towards every sound lmao, doesn’t mean he believes its a ghost. Ryan in this video even states that a noise he heard on a voice recorder was most likely an owl and states that its a thing for us to theorize on.

If you really wanted voices through white noise, buy an actual white noise machine. It doesn't scan radio stations. It won't pick up any extraneous sounds that aren't ghosts. The spirit box will give you news clips, songs, music....and that's to make sure believers hear something that they can justify to themselves are ghosts communicating with them. Ghost phenomenon is a heavily psychological based phenomenon; not a paranormal one. It's the lengths our brains will go to to justify or make sense of things that said brains don't understand. Most ghost hunter tools are designed to be flawed and give "false positives" (for lack of a better term) which the makers or promoters then turn say makes them BETTER to use because ghosts can use the faulty equipment because....uh...because reasons.
