Thanks for the podcast, really enjoy it! Yeah in NASCAR they do that engine shut off trick to save fuel. However, I feel like its only ever pointed out by the broadcasters when the driver is desperate to save fuel and it isn't a typical strategy per say.

They only turn off the engine under cation laps to save fuel (when safety car is out for FEW fans)

Specifically with LMP2 the clutch is only used to get the car moving and then it is never used and will be DESTROYED if the iracing ruel savings is used. GT3 clutch can be used to fuel save in real lift and not be destroyed. Iracing was trying to be realistic by disabling the LMP2 fuel saving.
