Offtopic, but I gotta thank you comrades. I don't remember which episode it was, but it was the one when you told men to fondle their balls... I mean to check them regularly. That probably saved my life for the time being, cause I found a little something (a cyst) under my testicle, and I went to the doctor, who found something tumor-like inside that ball. He referred me to a hospital and I've got the tests and all. It's still not 100% sure what that thing is, but there are definitely no metastases anywhere and 4/5 markers came back negative. Anyway, if it turns out to be a tumor, then we know what to do, and we'll do it immediately; and if not - all the better. I should get the results today. So boys, fondle your balls often! I would never think of going to an urologist at 31. Testicular cancer is the most common type for men aged 18-35.

Half of the schools, streets, highways, hospitals, airports, and other public institutions in my country have the names of our Founding Fathers (Juan Pablo Duarte, Francisco del Rosario Sánchez, and Matías Ramón Mella) or the names of the three political caudillos of the 20th century (the socialdemocrats Juan Bosch and José Francisco Peña Gómez, and the conservative Joaquín Balaguer). Yet that's weirdly not taken as a "cult of personality" by almost anyone... Unlike in our neighbour Cuba, where for doing exactly the same thing with Fidel Castro they're seen as a "dictatorship". The double standard of Western imperialist scum is despicable.

"this goes back to the Crusades" at one time I had been thinking about how a number of christians try to tell these detailed accounts about how it must be that each event in the life of jesus happened ultimately in order to prove the theological claims of christianity, and I thought about how some people would present the life of Ché Guavara as a series of amazing events that happened, and then I was imagining this dialogue where people were trying really hard to persuade us there was a historical Ché Guavara and various events in his life did in fact happen _in order to_ get people to accept Marxism, and become Third-Worldist I suppose I just thought it was a funny image. you hear all about this one guy and that he was born, he died, this minimal set of facts about him is definitely true, and go, well, that's pretty solid, I'm pretty sure he died for the greater good, guess I'm a Third-Worldist now

What's the best way to support the Deprogram, while putting as little money as possible in the hands of capitalists? Doesn't Patreon take a cut of the money? Do you get access to the Discord server if you support the channel? I couldn't find the answers so thought I'd ask. The Soviet Union was built inside the old Russian Empire, that had historically allowed even republic states within the federated empire. The idea that "the Russians couldn't understand the concept of sharing power between people instead of one single man hoarding it for life" is a-historic and frankly... Racist. Why did Stalin have a cult of personality? It wasn't because the Russian people are inferior culturally or genetically, that's a racist lie. It's not because Stalin was evil in the sense others portray. That's another lie. It's that the Soviet Union was a planned system, a planned society. A planned society means that all of society is like an army, it needs to march in step with all the other elements *otherwise it is not a planned society.* Just like a military fighting force allows and needs to allow subordinate officers leeway to adapt the plan to reality on the ground so did the Soviet Union. However for there to be a plan, there must be a way to bring everyone to consensus to agree to a plan, EVERYONE. In a system the size of the Soviet Union every plan is going to have massive dissenters against it and someone needed to smash their heads together to declare an end to the debate and say "we have a plan, there is no perfect plan and this one is good enough, get to work." That man was Joseph Stalin. When he died Soviet consensus began failing at an increasing rate. First the Soviet Union failed to take advantage of it's position as a world leader in computer technology in the 1950s. They had the technology, they had the resources, they could not agree on whose plan they would follow and they could not get the army to agree to share it's computer technology that was more advanced than the civilian leaders of sectors of power had. Each year the dissenting voices grew until finally central planning was outright nakedly abandoned then finally... each of these faction leaders were allowed to operate their personal fiefs (no longer linked by central planning) for their personal profit in the 1980s. Without a Stalin, without a Mao, without a Deng, without a XI to smash everyone's heads together and coerce a consensus. a planned society cannot stand long. Which means... These societies are fundamentally incompatible with any sense of real democracy. An utter tragedy as even I admit to the Soviet Union's accomplishments.

I gave up around the 25 minute mark. That´s when I just couldn´t take it anymore. The historical illiteracy along with pure ignorance and mental gymnastics from the trio that no doubt sees themselves as intellectual giants just blew me away. I understand trying to promote real communist ideas but defending authoritarian regimes that are communist in name only and inventing excuses for their actions (something that seems to be a pattern for this podcast) is another level of mental and moral breakdown that is luckily seldom witnessed. This a long with what I think is some sort of pathetic attempt to be a bit "edgy" to enhance what I can only suspect is a grift (as is often the case with these nut-jobs on both the right and left) makes me wonder who listens and buys this nonsense.
