The one thing I will say to anyone new to the XAT is that the projectile flies exactly where you're looking; the shot doesn't get affected by gravity whatsoever which is something to keep in mind if you feel like you're initially struggling to use it

NSOperative1337: I've got the Dervish fully certed and I think the hardest part about it is getting a gunner. After that you're mainly playing that air support role taking advantage of not being the only target in the air will allow you to really bring in the kills. As soon as you're the focus, you get vaporized. I really like the airframe that makes your yaw even crazier, but it puts more pressure on the top gunner to do their thing. Most of the weapons are decent but the XAT is definitely the go-to unless your gunner is missing all their shots. All of the nose guns are decent in their own regard too. One thing I've heard is that Dervishes are either really scary or really easy; there's no in between.

The Dervish has this weird duality of being either the most terrifying thing you’ll see on the skies, or the easiest way to get some certs. I’ve never really found “mediocre” Dervish’s, it’s always the high BR Maverick that uses the slim profile and unique targeting abilities to wreak havoc, or the BR 25 who just unlocked it, and needs a bit more practice to stop smashing into the ground whenever they bank. A unique aircraft to be sure. Also, 6:22 pain…

3:29 is the big dealbreaker for me. NSO is the faction for lone wolves, you log on and you hop on to any faction. so why oh why is this the only faction who is forced into teamwork to make their ESF work?

sadly getting into Airplay is almost impossible, you are mostlikely getting shot down 400meters out of the Warpgate by veterans. one reason why i havent really touched planes.

Only reason I was able to learn at all was because my outfit kept pulling bastions and the infinite respawning scythe helped quite a bit, before that not a chance. Also with the bastion being there, there's so much air around that your not immediately a target.......Also set your airflight control reverse thruster to analog it'll throw you right into hover which while making landing a little trickier (have to tap forward to land or you just hover) helps a lot with air combat

Same here and I have almost 1200 hours on the game. The only time I use air is when I have a router (with speed boosters ofc) or if our commander wants us to take down a bastion. I don't even bother trying anymore. The skill cap is just way too big like 10x worse than nano armor talks these days. And to be completely honest air battle is pretty much useless if you think of the whole picture like alerts. It's just a cert grinding for the veterans.

@@deslow7411 I used to fly a lot and have Araxiumed the Scythe and got very close to doing the Mossie as well but I don't even bother anymore ,the second I take off I'm either ganked or have 18 lockons on me. This is why it's a very, very bad idea giving every player G2A lockons.

Dervish is definitely a solo capable vehicle especially with the XAT top gun as you can use it kinda like a Liberator, use the nosegun when able and swap to gunner at close range and/or when the target flies around you. Its also fairly easy to just tilt your flying pancake slightly up and to the side, boost a little before swapping into the gunner seat to take shots at ground vehicles without losing too much altitude. I agree that Stealth is mandatory, the pancakes weakness is getting jumped by enemy aircraft(sluggish to move around) and the big top/bottom further punishes it with them being able to easy land most/all of their shots. Using it solo Stealth also becomes the best way to attack, you want to be the one jumping enemy aircraft because of the high damage potential as well as the chance that your target tries to run away instead of fighting you if you manage to land some good hits. Similarly you want Fire Suppression on it as the only other option is Flares, Ejection System and Scout Radar is not really a thing on a Dervish. And then finally I am convinced that the Drift Airframe will become the 'mandatory' option as it almost completely negates the drawback of being sluggish as well as making you harder to hit and open up some options when fighting that doesnt really work with the others. For example a Drift pancake that boosts away from a sticking close in your blind spots, starts a Yaw turn and swaps into the XAT gun can fire 2 shots before swapping back to the pilot seat and find that the pancake has done a 180 turn, facing the enemy ESF again but with some range gained. Bonus points if you start a reload before swapping seats as its done when you get back into the pilot seat again.

if you're struggling to hit enemy aircraft in the dervish, my suggestion would be to try left clicking while aiming at them, its done wonders for me

noticed that when somebody trying to dive underneath my dervish i just boost forward and up a little bit to make him chase me - this puts him in quite hard situation cause if he decide to chase me at straight line - we will just trade damage (top gun has less dps but we have more health pool) or he might choose to chase you while trying to dodge your gunners fire, then he couldn't shoot as well cause his nose will shake a lot in the process... when somebody dives underneath you he usually doing this in hover mode (means his thrusters are in vertical position) and when you boost away in straight line he can't catch up with you even being way faster than you because his thrusters have to turn in horizontal position and that is something that doesn't goes instantly... that is how you can create some gap between you and enemy ESF....

Im not the best pilot in the TR, but I did tested all ESF and there is no argue that not all faction ESF are balanced at all. Reavers > Scythes > Mosquitoes Reavers have access to close quarters, precise, high damage nose gun. Combine that with fuel tanks and thats all you need to dominate the air. If you manage to sneak behind an enemy ESF, one mag will do the job. Most dogfights are in close quarters, so enemy ESF just dont stand a chance against an experienced Reaver pilot. I've heard that many vet pilots move to the NC just for this. When I go with my Mosquito, I only focus on farming infantry, and only fight enemy esf if we have tactical superiority.

Any time you pilot or gun this as an NSO you are required by law to acknowledge every command from squad leader with, "By your command" in your best Cylon voice. Because that is what it is.

I am new to flight in PS2, but I somehow love the Dervish. The support role of it, makes it even more enjoyable to me. I am just a bit conflicted whether to embrace the sweaty learning curve (of flying in PS2 in general) due to all the Flight vets, or let it slide. My main experience is usually a few meters outside spawn and boom, someone ganked me instantly. ("Git gud", I know, I am attempting to.) But learning it in VR Training world has given a lot so far, when it comes to adjusting the keybinds and sensitivity. Hopefully I can at least accidently counter maneuver them vets someday... AND additionally get to say "Just like the simulations" - Clone Trooper.

I highly recommend finding a friend to fly with. Especially if they are more experienced. You might get some rage tells about being a "gank squad" but ignore those, they're wrong. Having a wingman will help you get a bit more time in each esf you pull, which means you learn faster.

Did you know: - you can fly the dervish upside down with the rotor airframe somewhat? - you can solo contest big air targets with the charge up pilot gun (dv-xe) rather well? - the charge up pilot gun (dv-xe)has extreme range and no bullet drop? - the charge up pilot gun(dv-xe) is effective vs. ground infantry and maxes well beyond the other two choices? - the charge up pilot gun (dv-xe) is the only dervish main gun able to one clip ESFs?

As a solo player I'm looking at this as a really mobile tank park it on a mountain or hill and snipe if you are targeted move enemies esf consider flying as max or heaviy with SAM

I agree with you on somethings, but not on others. Ever since this things release I am near to a dedicated Dervish pilot, and I say it can honestly brawl if set up right, it just can't deal with being focus fired very well, so you need team mates who can take advantage of enemies doing so, as a esf focusing me and my partners Dervish is am easy free kill for my team mates. Something they do need to sort out is A. The many many many bugs with the Dervish amd B. The collision damage, I have had no end of ESF pilots try to kamikaze into me as if they pull it off they get 2 kills for 1 death. They really need to lower collision damage with esf's very very hard. On top of that I personally don't find stealth very helpful on the Dervish, its so big and can be seen like a neon sign from render limit that any pilot worth there salt will not get snuck up on by it stealth or no. composite armor is pretty bad also and could use a buff, but if you want a more active and less cowardly fight style then it's all but necessary. With a quick pivot you can with composite armor turn a fight on an ESF that ambushed you that you would not have been able to without composite, from my experience atleast. Another issue to note... Coyote's god darn Coyote's,they are the bain of the Dervish, they rarely ever miss against it as it cant dodge them very well, so they end up dealing ALLOT of damage to Dervishes, honestly if you don't believe me, try it yourself. All in all I love the Dervish, me and my partner call ours Debby. But at the same time I think its just a tad underpowered for what it is, unlike other planes it feels abit situational and lacks flexibility, I have several ideas for how to fix this but I would ramble if I got started so.

In response to the brawling remark, I agree that under the correct operators it can take a 1v1 very well. When I refer to brawling, I am more or less referring to being in chaotic environments that the dervish can't control; environments that make it difficult for the Dervish to dictate the engagements it takes. As you said earlier, the aircraft doesn't do well while being focused, that is my main concern that I wanted to highlight as such.

Learning to persue targets that are on your allies and focus down weak enemies. In these chaotic brawls the Dervish can do very well in fact, due to as you stated having a high damage potential due to its 2 guns.

You don’t need to increase your flight sensitivity. Most if not all skilled pilots have keys bound to pitch up and pitch down, so if they need to maneuver fast they can just use those keys.

Considering the weight of this vehicle, the increased sensitivity is still needed for just general gameplay. I too have pitch up and pitch down keybinded, but the experience was still MUCH smoother after making adjustments to the sensitivity.

I haven't seen anyone mention the yaw or left and right aim of the aircraft it feels accelerated and makes it nearly uncontrollable for me. I tried playing with the settings but I don't understand why the devs made it so hard for 90% of the community to enjoy just trying to fly in this dam game. I know folks love the uniqueness of flying in PS2 but since day one it had bugged me... I wish they would make it easier for players to enjoy.

Thank you for acknowledging that you aren’t the authority when telling people about the air game meta because it is very complicated and extremely situational. Also pilots gunners and specific matchups against some players with similar or different play styles all mater. It takes good pilots and a lot of time to figure out what is good or bad and when.

The devs should have made turret be able to switch points of view ie press whatever button u use to switch guns to switch point of view. Like the gunner could switch the point of view from bottom to top so it can become a bomber or anti air gunner. What do you guys think?

требую отменить случайные попадания пуль в онлайн играх ! даже сегодня есть множество проблем типа дрожащих рук, пинга, тормозов железа, сети и прочих причин не попасть просто подведя курсор на мониторе к нужной точке ! в реальности когда я чувствую отдачу оружия я могу мышцами контролировать его, в компьютере нет такой связи ! это только в мозгах - когда придумают автоматы и симуляторы реальности - тогда пусть и будет рандомное попадание, а пока мы хотим упразднить рандомное попадание ! это как получается целую обойму выпускаю, она аккуратно ложится вокруг врага ,ни одна пуля не попадает! а ещё он использует читы и видишь какое-то извивающееся существо на мониторе и хочется найти урода и набить ему морду !
