From the Wiki for this film: "In the original release in the United Kingdom, an extended ending is presented, which was cut for the US release over concerns that it was too depressing. After hallucinating the image of Juno, Sarah awakens in the cave, her entire escape having been revealed to be part of the same hallucination. She sits up to see Jessica sitting across from her, holding a birthday cake. As Sarah smiles the shot widens to reveal that the cake's birthday-candlelight is actually the light of her torch. The camera slowly backs out, revealing the darkness surrounding Sarah as the crawlers are heard closing in."

The whole subtext of friendship and betrayal is key. Juno was having an affair with Sarah's husband. Grief and loyalty play a role especially when Juno left the other girl to die. Sarah could not forgive twice.

I think it's more about honesty. Juno could be honest about her affair with Sarah's husband, and she choose not do it. And again, Juno could be honest about Beth's death when Sarah asks her, but once more, Juno choose not be honest with her. The same thing apply with Juno not telling them about the cave in the begging of the journey.

Fun Facts: In the special features for the movie they described the creatures as the cavemen who never left the caves. Also the director purposely hid what the creatures looked like from the cast, so in the scene when they all encounter one for the first time as it jump scares them, that is their genuine fearful reaction IN REAL LIFE. One of the many reasons this movie is tied with Alien for my all time favorite horror movie. Also I LOVE that Roxy is now a full blown Reel Reject. She’s absolutely perfect, both for the channel, and in real life. Love you Roxstar!❤❤

I think it’s safe to say that Sarah’s husband and Juno were sleeping together. At the beginning when he helps Juno out of the water the way they look at each other and how he lingers pushing her hair back from her face is some pretty intense body language that signals they are more than just friends. Plus the gift he gave Juno with his motto engraved on it, which Sarah thought was something special between her and her husband, was a big reveal. You don’t give secret gifts to your spouse’s friends. That’s my interpretation anyway. 🤷‍♀️😊 Thanks for another entertaining reaction, Greg and Roxy!

Honestly, it was NOT Juno's fault. If that was a creature, and she hesitated with the swing, her neck would get torn out in that millisecond of hesitation. She's running high on adrenaline and was in a fight to the death, and it's heightened by the fact that she just discovered monsters are real and she saw one kill her friend. Beth walking up to her from behind in total silence was insane.

I know it worked for the movie, but I don’t blame juno for that either. I know how jumpy I get just when there’s a bug in the room. I would’ve totally killed that girl by accident, too! To walk silently to someone and place your hand on their shoulder w/o saying anything in that situation IS crazy!

The character of Juno makes this film so interesting. She's kind of a villain but also does heroic admirable things so it's hard to totally hate her. I also love the little detail of the old piece of climbing gear in the ceiling, that reveals someone had been there decades before.

I think what's scariest about this is that they AREN'T demons or aliens, there's nothing to indicate these are anything but animals. I think the creators said that they're descendants of ancient cavemen who stayed in the caves and evolved into these things. So nothing supernatural going on, just natural creatures with a helluva home field advantage

Neil Marshall is one of the most inventive directors and script writers. Please watch he's other classic 'dog soldiers ' when you get a chance. Great reactions guys.

They are realistic. They are humans that have just lived in the caves forever and their bodies adapted. I love this movie

Dammit Greg! You revealed that this movie was a horror movie and not a comedy lol I would have loved to hear Roxy asking you where are the jokes at in this reaction. Also, Roxy mixed references from “The Shining” & “Signs” is funny

By the way, what happens in the scene after she mercy kills Beth is that a child crawler jumps her and she kills it, then the mother crawler comes up and find her dead baby and goes after her, resulting in the bloody pool fight

In the uncut original version Sarah does not make it out. After her vision of Juno in her car, Sarah wake up back in the cave with crawlers sound closing in on her. Then she has vision of her daughter and a birthday cake. Then camera pull back in the cave to imply Sarah will die.

This is a great movie , so so many jump scares that are totally earned , from the opening jaw dropping death of Sarah's Husband and Daughter to the scene when they pan around in the bone pit and the Crawler is behind one of the Girls was so great , I saw this on a date who wanted to see a scary movie so very good choice there . I think using actresses who are not major big names really works in the films favour . The Cinematography and sound design are fantastic and so effective , having a movie about descending into caves is scary enough with a amazing claustrophobic feel and atmosphere is great throw in the Crawlers and it makes it so much scarier . This is the second movie from Neil Marshall whose first movie Dog Soldiers from 2002 is truly truly great too in fact I prefer Dog Soldiers over this as Descent is a pure Horror movie and Dog Soldiers is a Horror Comedy with really likable characters I would highly recommend Dog Soldiers . Neil Marshall also directed some of the more action packed Game of Thrones episodes like Blackwater , I have not seen Descent part 2 Neil Marshall is apparently Executive Director but with a different Director . There is a cut of Descent which has a different ending I think it may be the US release but I have only ever seen the UK release . Glad to see you mentioned The Ritual another great Horror with really likeable characters and has elements of other Horrors like Blair Witch and Evil Dead but not enough of other movies to feel they are ripping them off .

My theory is that Sarah never recovered from the crash. She's either in a coma/catatonic and everything after the crash is in her head or she died and this is her hell. Also don't bother with part 2 lol. I think I also saw a theory that Sarah went mad and actually killed them all.

when you have claustrophobia and imagine crawling through the small gaps its even more scary than the monsters

The ending in the UK was different she tripped about getting out (she didn’t) and then the last shoot was her still in the cave, the fire going out and surrounded by these freaks

Neil Marshall is great at directing/creating a very tense atmosphere, the claustrophobic environment also the perfect setting. Great editing and a great choice to not hold back and just dive head first right from the opening sequence. This is an amazing horror movie, filled with suspense and scares galore. He also directed another of my favourites called Centurion with Fassbender about the roman legion. The lead actress Shauna Macdonald was in another horror called Howl, a low budget werewolf film that was far better than expected. Great reaction!!

I liked the movie a lot. There is a second movie and I liked it too. The only real bad part was it ended leading up to a third movie that they never made.

In the alternate ending version, she gets to the car and then parks up same. But instead of seeing her friend, when the truck goes past she wakes up still inside the cave because she passed out and dreamt escaping.

When i first saw this years after it came out i wasnt sure if it was gonna be any good...i dont remember if it even hit the theater...dont think it did. I loved it. Loved the fact of how uncomfortable and claustrophobic it made me feel. Loved the fact all the girls were from different countries too.

"As Above So Below". Same kind of vibe as this movie. But more found footage and without the creatures. But one of my favorite horror movies ever. Would definitely put it up there with this movie as well.

Great movie and still one of my favorites. I didn't realize at first that Juno's line about the climbing equipment (cam) they found being over 100 years old was the origins of these cave creatures.
