If the Wings division opponents want to slow the Wings down, it’s easy: just stick a second advertising patch on their jersey. Last year, we were on a 6-game heater when Chris Ilitch put the Trash Patch on the greatest jersey in sports - and they lost 8 straight. Coincidence? You may think so.

Dude, everyone is improving and playing the way we have all wanted them too. Itll be great to have tereasenko putting pucks in the net soon. But man, its been great enjoyment to be proud of their efforts, and then to SEE them get rewarded for it. That 1st against seattle was like the gates of possibilities opened up for the first time in a long time!

Even if you have all the greatest instruments in one group, you still need someone to direct how they play to make great music. The wings have been missing that for quite some time. Im not sure if todd will take us eventually to the cup win, but he is the right maestro for our team right now. What a relief its been.

They should have made this move weeks ago. Said it before. They needed accountability, physicality and defense. Now they've got them. Splitting Seider and Edvinson turned out to be a genius move. I always pictured Edvinson with ASP in the long term anyway.

The real test comes once the streak comes to an end. If they can bounce back after a couple loses, minimize the losing streaks etc. And get back to winning before spiraling again.

I agree. If we can pull off 7w-1l, 4w-2l,5w...then there is true hope for a playoff run. At least we have beaten a few top teams, so that's great confidence!

The "should've done it sooner" will go out the window if the Wings make the playoffs. With how they playing, they might even do some damage. I'm not saying they're serious contenders but they may have enough to upset another team, maybe 2.

If they manage to make the playoffs, there is a good chance they play the leafs in round 1, so a 1st round upset is absolutely possible.

Mclellan has been great but he will have to prove that he's good down the stretch. Last year red wings really lacked that leadership without dylan larkin
@paulwt9783
@paulwt9783 26 күн бұрын
they didn't lack leadership (which Larkin provides little of imo), they lacked centers. if they'd had Kane and Cat w Copp last year when Larkin went down, things would have turned out quite different imo. but they were stuck w Compher who they could never play with. so the team suddenly had no scoring lines.
@doozey365
@doozey365 26 күн бұрын
55% is just a now stat, it will come down quite quickly. Teams will game plan against what they r doing. It happened last year and PP fell off a cliff. What i think is more telling for this team is what impact a coaching change has had. The players who were playing like garbage, Compher, Kane, Gustafson, Bergron, and Holl didnt look like they deserved a roster spot. Now, all those players have looked really good to dynamic. Something woke these players up, and im here for it.

While I'm pleased with McLellan and the "play f'ing hockey" system, what really makes a coach is how they handle adversity. If we go on a 2-3 game skid, what will change? Will we be losing despite looking good, or will we have fallen back into bad habits? Love the positive vibes and energy for sure, but he's also not the best thing since the wheel was invented.

And tank their own season? No, the players weren't trying to lose. A lot of guys don't get to play in the league for even 10 years, they make the most of their ice time. Their own raises depend on improvement.
@positivelybobby
@positivelybobby 26 күн бұрын
I’m guessing not - Larkin would never let that happen IMO - but they obviously had no belief in the system, the methods or the coaches themselves. Man, that was a horrible time.
@JohnWalker-j4z
@JohnWalker-j4z 26 күн бұрын
No lalonde was a system coach and his system wasn’t working so guys were that excited to play in it and you could see it. McLennan seems to be letting the guys play and figuring out who and what works. That is the major difference these guys can finally play loose.
@positivelybobby
@positivelybobby 26 күн бұрын
@ they can play LOOSER, but they’ve obviously adjusted positioning. Look at the way the D now plays the attacker at the blue line; that’s a huge change. Lalonde was afraid of offensive speed so he made the D back right in to the face off circles. Now they’re forcing offsides and turnovers, and at least slowing the rush down to allow the back checkers to make plays.
