There was a very limited version of this back in Spidey 1 too. You could turn corners fast by running on the side of the buildings and when reaching corners, same animation as this would play out if you held out Circle button. Used to do this a lot as it made it so satisfying.

@@six-six3617 no it is a game changer. Go back and play miles morales after being on Spider-Man 2. Go back and play spidey 2018 after playing Spider-Man 2. You genuinely can’t cause the web swinging is soooo much worse in those games compared to Spider-Man 2. Something as simple as a web tether and corner tether makes the game much more fluid and quicker. It’s an absolute game changer man. Please try to play miles morales again and you’ll see how often your muscle memory instinctively tries to corner turn with L1+O but you realize you can’t. So you switch back to SM2

I love this new trend of people showing off various secrets or web slinging tricks before letting Spidey just go splat on the ground. Makes me wonder about it actually being a common occurrence in universe. Just imagine, chilling on a sidewalk or whatever and then this human shape just ricochets so hard he creates a dent in the pavement. You see it’s Spider-Man as he picks himself up, dusts off, and gives a “Don’t mind me. Carry on.” before slinging off into the distance.

The Web Wings are addictive. I started using them so much that I realized I was almost always in the sky and had to consciously choose to use them less and swing closer to ground level again to get that "Spidey swinging through the city" feeling back

Dont forget the web line it can actually be used to do a slingshot while youre on it also you can use the slingshot on any areas and if you map the super jump to a shortcut tou can use it as a recovery as it's way faster than charging it

If you have back buttons on your controller then the 'old school' method of cornering is no issue as you can move the camera and direction freely while still being ready to jump. Of course the new corner tether is still useful for speed at times.

Yep. I have to admit, corner tether has to be one of the most versatile and useful mechanics in the game. It's literally a perfect transition tool. Wether you've just come out of a slipstream or you've boosted yourself into Narnia with symbiote tendrils, you can seamlessly recover. And when you combo it with wall running?! Don't get me started.

Spiderman's web slinging mechanics are not a trivial thing to implement. I remember back in the days of the Spiderman: The Movie videogame for the GameCube, where Spiderman essentially just swung repetitively connecting his webs to some invisible roof directly upwards in the sky.

Love this game so much. Went back to starfield and it breaks with every update. Yet, it wins xbox goty award, and playstation gave their award not to spider-man 2, but to the re4 remake. As someone who can’t afford a PS5 but really wants Spider-Man 2, I’ve had to content myself by trying to get really good at swinging in Spider-Man 1. So hearing you say that the Spider-Man 2 swinging makes Spider-Man 1 swinging seem boring by comparison, you don’t think you can ever go back to normal swinging, the new swinging is just so much more superior, I have one thing to say… I hate you. I didnt get a 10th of the way through spiderman 1 exactly because of this stark difference. At the time I was looking through the menus for all of these exact mechanics for the movement and just left the game behind because it was too slow. I'm happy people are enjoying the new swinging, though I'm not buying a PS5 to try it. :(
