Today I finish up the underside of the Cougar Fastback hood making sure it looks as good on the underside as it does on the top. Slow and tedious but the result is well worth it !!

I’m going to have to do something similar on my LS swapped S10. I bought a cowl induction hood to clear the stock 6.0 LS/Vortec truck intake manifold. Unfortunately, the $700 “cowl induction” hood has the same internal bracing as a stock hood.

Completely agree with that approach, Kiwi. If she looks factory, the average hotrod / street rod blokes are going to be more impressed with the result.....and those not in the know, more inclined to believe she IS a rare Canadian-only model! Best of all, it looks RIGHT (as you said) and this counts for a LOT in my book when it comes to a modified vehicle. If it looks like it is supposed to be there, it just makes the job look more complete and a custom job as more sympathetic to the vehicle.

I think you're my very first comment on your channel I spoke of you craftsmanship. If it wasn't the very first comment is real close to it. And number of times in between. After watching this video I rest my case. You are guilty of being not only a Craftsman but also an artisan. I like it when you say this is what floats your boat ⛵! Also I've heard it said before that the best customization is when you look at the vehicle. And it looks like that's how bored or whatever makes should have made it. Great work great video 📸

@@kiwiclassicsandcustoms9160 thank you I only speak the truth can I speak of your skills. I actually think I underrate them. Not on purpose. You know This Hood video name devil's is in the details. What is where anybody can understand it. I understand why you were doing it the way you're doing it. They could see what you're doing. The people who learned by verbal instruction and those that learn by seeing. You have covered both camps. In any case you gave a great combination of instruction on what you were doing. I'm not saying everybody could just copy you my seeing this video. That takes time and practice. But it shows people hey pay attention to details here and there so to have a better product in the end. Because we get to see from your channel and shop, national easy to understand why they turn out so well. Besides whoever gets frustrated with KZbin 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣. I think I might have told you this before but my wife enjoys your channel as well. My son as well. My wife is not what you'd call a real big car person but it's growing on her. We were in an Amish store and I had this kiwi bread and kiwi this and kiwi that here. On KZbin. Yeah I'll take a picture and send it to him. I may have sent it to you on email ✉️. I know it took a picture because my wife wanted me to let's face up to that right! My point is that I'm just demonstrating the draw that you have. So not to be misquoted here I'll just say uncle your friend. He is vastly successful on KZbin. He knows his audience. I'm pretty sure with your focus you've had you pretty much figured out the core of your audience which differs from your friend. That's great because we both grew from the same crowd, and only that same crowd, it would be limited. Know if you're saying that you think your numbers are going to be bigger, I'm sure I can speak for your base. We agree. I think most of us think that those numbers 🔢 should come in faster for you. So if a little understanding out here help you with your frustration within your channel, and then that's great 👍. It's horrible you have that frustration but quite understandable that you actually care about your product to put out there on KZbin and it mirrors they fit and polish of your automobile product. Yeah I've been told by people all my life now I have a gift for gab. Vanity case when your test drive the car and you take us all along with us. I bet you each and every year feels like I do we're setting on each other's laughing at passenger seat right there with you. That's an awesome part of your setup. Oh I'm not trying to tell you how do you show. Not at all. Just pointing out a couple of things I like. I figure others do to. My frustration is I know that they are censoring me for the expression of my political beliefs across other channels primarily. What channel is the open forum on politics and public items. I pretty much stay away from it within my own production. Have kept me at a certain number which is 1/3 of what I normally have been doing on the low end of my videos. Maybe something can be learned from that. Well thanks again for complimenting me like that. If I thought you was lousy something up I'd let you know. Because there's a lot of content out there on KZbin which is only a certain numbers of quality content. I know how the back rooms of shops and garages can be. Day off and on. But you keep yours at good family entertainment values. I don't have kids of that young age anymore. But you know I'm stuck in that segment, and I don't see any reason to change now. I guess van 8 year old son currently and I couldn't show him the show and I wouldn't watch the show. Okay I ramble on quite a bit and hopes that maybe you can pick out something that might help you when you combine it with your own creativity craftsmanship and artisanship did it take you to the next level. Remember for everyone that speaks up play the vast number of people that feel that way. I have read your comments. I'm definitely in the mainstream of those comments. I just happened to put some words together. It looks like that situation you had when you had to have the Band-Aids on your face a while back has worked out for the better. Maybe your dad and my dad are kicking back looking down upon us going play some hope left anyway 🤣🤣. Well as I believe they say from your country of origin, good job mate. Can I have some active subscribers Harley's viewers out in Australia and New Zealand both can they tell me that once in awhile. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍 Emoji translation 👍

I envy you. I almost went and bought a welder, but ended up doing a filler resto on my Dentside - including using Kitty hair Bondo to snot up some one piece drip-rails!! The drip-rails are two piece and gapped/seamed about over the door handle. Henry's solution was a piece of metal which clipped over the gap, surely with some sort of seam sealer or whatever. One of my clips was about a quarter gone from rust, so I got trick! There's still rust stains running down my door-windows, under where the clip things were...😆😂🤣 Depending on how paint goes, she won't look too bad. And I can always splice/weld patch panels in the three wheel openings and two door bottoms, and be nearly filler-free. I did not correct all of the previous guy's questionable bodywork...

Beautiful Kiwi! Yes, patience is a must when doing intricate metal fabrication as such. You're taking me back to my day's when I worked at a custom shop ("Bob's Customs ") down in sw Florida in the 70's. I don't know if it's still around, but we used to use a product called block heat or heat block, something like that. It came in a tube, white paste. You run a little bead next to where you'd be welding. It would absorb heat from the metal, and keep the heat from spreading as far. Worked great and we'd scrape it up and reuse it. Put it in a little container and apply it with a putty knife when needed later. I'm back home in Georgia from Florida and planning a visit within a couple of weeks. Any motels/hotels a reasonable distance from your shop?

Self-darkening visors have been available for awhile now. As soon as the visor detects spark, it immediately darkens. It almost looks like a shoemaker's anvil you've got clamped there in that vise

My day job is working with tin and aluminum…I’m right handed so I only use reds but also it sucks carrying three sets of snips is a tool belt. The solution for me is always cutting to the left on a bend or circle….or flipping the snips upside down.

Hi just wanted to reach out to say i love the videos especially on the cougar. One thing I'd say though as a viewer is that it is difficult to look back through your videos and figure out which one went over a certain topic, maybe there is a way to add a bigger hint to what is in the video to the title of thumbnail? For your consideration! Thanks for the inspirational content.

Kiwi, I'm curious what your thoughts are on something else for the under side of the hood, now that you have those fillers done. Each side of the hood has recessed areas that run from the front of the hood to the back, and each of those recesses has two secondary recesses. Granted it would just create more work for you, but how do you think it would look if you made filler panels for the secondary recesses and welded them in, so the lower section would be smooth from front to back ? Besides looking clean, in theory it should add extra strength to the hood as well. I love doing fab work on things like that. It's really satisfying when it's finished.

Nice job on the upper roll,why not on the lower? Will you be applying dawns of adhesive to hold the skin?
@kiwiclassicsandcustoms9160
@kiwiclassicsandcustoms9160 Ай бұрын
Given that seam needed to be welded it actually gave a little more room for the weld by not rolling it. It also mane hit quicker to do it that way. Yes, I'll be putting adhesive between the frame and the outer skin. Quarter size dobs about every 3-4 inches
