@toasty32707 жыл бұрын
Yeah, they're the only ones that don't use as many cheap jumpscares as possible and can be pretty damn creepy e.g. The Witch (Creepy as fuck, yet barely any jumpscares, actually, don't think it did) there's very few big budget horrors that achieve being scary and using few cheap jumpscares.

JD! yo yeah it's definitely not scary, but I found it to be a horror movie in the sense that it made me feel true dread and dispair. Especially in the climax scene thats just so brutal and sad. it made me feel a sense OF horror
@cvmann20207 жыл бұрын
+JD! yo I don't think it's really a flaw. There's a nearly constant sense of dread and uneasiness throughout the film and the tension really ratchets up over the last 30 minutes. This could have been what the director was trying to accomplish instead having lots of jump scares and gore during the whole movie.

Just saw this movie, and after 10 years from Sean Byrne first movie (The Love Ones) we can finally see his new work, and holy fuck it was worth the wait, Perri and Clarke on Collider Nightmares were not lying of how great this movie is, because this is what true horror is about, well developed characters we care about, dreadful atmosphere, haunting mythology (it has somr Lynch inspired characters) and surprisingly, heartful themes about family, it evokes some real human fears and it's fucking brutal the way it does it, and of course, it's metal as hell (awesome soundtrack).

My friend did the paintings for this movie. Steve Kasner. Ethan embry was awesome, I just wish they would've went into more detail about the devil shit and the ending was kinda bad. It started off good and ended not so good. The fire and the explosion but they both are okay? And what was the stuff that he dug up at the end? What was the meaning of the sun shining on his face? Was that God cause he killed the devil? There's just a lot of unanswered questions.

Ok. I usually take your movie recomendations and I love them. I think this may be a time where i really disagree with you. Which is fine! I just really thought it was kinda cheesy and there was something about the acting I didn't like.... It felt as if this movie was written by a person who knew nothing about metal music. I haven't looked into the writer/director yet, so maybe he's just into it in a weird way, i dunno... Glad you liked the film tho, it definately had some charming moments.
@schematicb53935 жыл бұрын
I thought the last 10 or so minutes were definitely really cheesy, but overall I thought the film as a whole was really intriguing and well done, but I do agree with you about the metal music. Being a huge fan of metal (Metallica ironically being my favorite band), deep, throaty voices and loud guitars aren't the only things that define metal; there has to be melody, harmony and purpose to it.

Protagonists surname: Hellman. Art dealers name (or if it's the art studios name) : Belial. There's a ton of allegorical meanings in the movie. Some subtle. Some, like the surname, pretty much written on the viewers nose. Personally, I like it. In that way, it reminds me of Angel Heart.

-Hot damn. I saw a movie before you did (last week)! Wasn't this flick fun? Great job by all. For the first minute or 3, I thought Jax from Sons of Anarchy was in it, and little Angelina (Jolie), she did great. The ending was a bit... strange, but fit in pretty well to finish the story. My biggest gripe was that it was too short. I would've liked, like you, to have seen a few more minutes of the family chemistry. -For those who read this and have not yet seen it... rent/buy or any other way, see The Loved Ones. Awesome flick with a song in it that I could not get out of my head for weeks but didn't mind.
