Both dudes were yucky. Nate wasn’t supportive, he mocked her job and shamed her choices. Christian kept hitting on her when he knew she was taken, and was low key sexist when he talked about Miranda. I always thought that this movie could have one more detail in it's ending. Andy wanted to become a writer, and miranda says that on page 6 there'll be sexist comments about her marriage. The movie would have ended more fabulously if they showed miranda reading the magazine page 6 and finding an article about her, written by andy, which states how she's the boss lady and the smartest in the room and calls out sexism, the line by Andy "if Miranda were a man, everyone would praise her work ethics" holds strong with this ending. This would satisfy both the equations well, Andy became a writer, and Miranda is well established as the boss lady. Anyways they did a good job with the ending.
@ardikapradnya70403 жыл бұрын
Not bad, except that i don't think putting Andrea working for Page 6, a gossip column, after a prestigious fashion magazine would be sufficient for Andrea. this is an interesting idea because it satisfyingly ties the two stories together, but it would condone Miranda's behaviour as a boss. Andrea does say that if Miranda were a man that all of that would be considered acceptable, but the overall, implies that Andrea leaves because she disagrees with Miranda's abuse and especially her way of betraying and using Nigel to protect her own position at the company. If Andrea ended up writing an article like that, it would be implicitly condoning that sort of backstabbing behaviour.

His lack of of discretion in leaving that mock-up around and how casually he discussed Miranda’s firing in front of her assistant makes me think he’s either an arrogant incompetent that would indeed have ruined the magazine or he expects Andy to follow him and Jacquline to the new magazine and offer her opportunities, one assumes in exchange for sexual favours or a relationship…

the first part of this scene for me is a prime example of a predatory man. She gives three versions for "no" but he keeps pushing until she 'gives in'🤢. Lets stop normalizing this kind of behavior, and the way it's shown in media as the way to act. I liked this movie but this part sucks.
@Dwip_po_po5 ай бұрын
The reason why we don’t really condone Christian at all even though we should is because Nate was so unsupportive and throwing temper tantrums that when Christian came along it was a complete 180 for Andy. Christian helps her get the manuscript, complements her and makes her feel great. However he should have known better than to completely advance himself on Andy like that.

Correct, Miranda already knew through the grapevine what was going down! If you have been at a high level job for over a decade, you know how dirty and cutthroat your competitors are, this includes your team working for you and colleagues! You will always stay on top of your game and have an insider who is a squeaker keep you updated on the latest gossip & rumors floating around the front line staff. There is always someone who works under your competition (ex: secretary ect) , who has firsthand information & tea on what is going on. That’s why you have to always treat those people that have service support jobs nice (ex: receptionist, secretary, maintenance guy, janitor, payroll, cook, housekeeper , landscapers ect). They are the ones who knows when there will be layoffs or someone is getting fired or replaced! 😅😂
