Let's be honest with ourselves, "The Devil Went Down To Georgia" has always been a metal song that was just written in the wrong genre.
@DareToBeDeviant2 жыл бұрын
Steve Ouimette remedied that for Guitar Hero 3. I've had it on my MP3 player since its release. kzbin.info/www/bejne/oWrGqadsnKp4nNk It's always kicked ass (especially after 1:20 in) but this one by 331Erock is an awesome revision. Just the wrong vocals, though just an opinion.

Charlie Daniels straddled the line between straight country and southern rock. And as anyone who's listened to Lynyrd Skynyrd or Molly Hatchet knows, southern rock is very much influenced by hard rock. So yeah, Charlie Daniels probably had a little bit of metal in his heart and soul.

"Hell Awaits" is the perfect addition to this song because one thing most people don't get is that win or lose, Johnny's goin to hell. He may have beat the devil, but even if taking the bet on its own wasn't a hellworthy tresspass, his vanity is gunna drag him down anyway.

Awesome version. Well put together. I remember in 1983 or ‘84, I saw a band at Gazzarri’s on the Sunset Strip in L.A. do this as a metal song. The pounding keyboard in the middle was the bass player, and they did dueling guitars for the fiddle parts. It was killer. The devil went down to Hollywood, lookin’ for a soul to steal… Went Gazzarri’s to check out the bands, he was willin’ to make a deal… Remember it like yesterday.

Man... this is so close to what I've been looking for. Since the first time I heard this song I've wanted nothing more than to hear a version where it is banjos, fiddles, and basically bluegrass. Then, when the metal part hits it is hard hitting like this. Then, when it goes back to Johnny he gives a fiddle performance that blows the socks off everyone. I've never heard a version that had both musical genres mixed. This is has the metal part, hopefully someone does the bluegrass part.

@BHandy0002 жыл бұрын
Dude your covers absolutely slay. But I must say I thought the slayer cover in the middle took away from the song.. it was awesome, just didn’t fit for me. I always hear the devil part in my head as super tuned down djent breakdown style with Chris turner drumming vs Johnny part as more speed metal 80’s style mike portnoy drums. Signifying the battle of kinda new vs old or good vs evil (you choose the side lol). Keep killing it man I love watching your interpretations!!
@eddiewilkinson97942 жыл бұрын
I'm a huge Charlie Daniels Band fan, and was still in school when "Headbangers Ball" was still must see tv. I clicked on this with great trepidation, this is by far the best "Hard Rock / Metal" cover of Devil Went Down to Georgia I've run across. While being best known for his fiddle Charlie Daniels could pick the hell out of a guitar, I think He'd get a big kick out of this. Generally I'm not a huge fan of covers, but damn' if you didn't nail it plumb flush and square. Close enough to the original to recognize the song, different enough to see the new artists take on it. Good Work.
