that's whats up.. also pain is one of the last areas of sensation to go, so i would skip too if i feel the prior sensory modalities are ok.

This is probably region-specific, but examining a patient's feet with bare hands is relatively common in the US, if they look reasonably clean and are without wounds. I wear gloves for almost all hospitalized patients because they usually don't satisfy both of those criteria...
