Not sure why Sam is confused over the weapons with the red spot. Tom was very clear in his explanation of it.

This is honestly one of my favorite games. I backed the original kickstarter and been playing it regularly (once or twice a month) ever since. It really is a rollercoaster of a game. When done right, you have the slowdown talking and discussion of plans and strategy, then the two minutes of insanity as your plans go out the window and you have to think on your feet. It's a game where most players end up on their feet, biting their nails for the last few rounds. The new print looks amazing in comparison to the original, I just hope they add a campaign option this time around.

On 6th round, you should have moved the bad guys next to Sam to push him back towards the edge more quickly, where he could have defended it without needing movement rolls.

I have one major problem with this style of game, with everyone rolling at once it makes for a very chaotic game where I don't see how anyone can tell what the others are doing in order to keep track of mistakes and such

Mistakes definitely happen (and are not caught). But, the game is designed a little bit with that in mind. As long as you are not making mistakes on purpose, it's absolutely fine.

Tom is totally cheating. Zee's intuition is correct. ALL aliens activate (bite, shoot, etc) and only then do all aliens move. Also, swarm aliens have to activate before bosses, so the boss must be moved last. Finally, getting out is not enough to win. You have to resolve that final alien phase and if any cross the exit, you still lose.

Haven’t seen the new rules, but it’s nit especially likely this part changed. It’s very likely the far front boss would have been pushed by the swarm and then activated across the board edge. Remember, you have to move the swarm first. This makes bosses extra deadly because they tend to push and get pushed when they are surrounded by swarms, increasing total movement speed of aliens near them.

... and that slime lady would have made them lose. She would spit slime, then move 4 (which results in 5, and she barely makes it to the exit as well). BUT, they were having fun, and that's more important.

I prefer games that have many relationships ( too many to discover in just a few plays) and are very cinematic and tactile (minis are engaging to me). However, I don't have the time for tons of book keeping in games so I prefer the rules be on game play cards or simple charts for the most part. I've only played one Cmon game called zombiecide black plague with one other player. It was ok, I'm sure it can be more fun with more players. I'm not sure if this Elite game is for me, it doesn't appear to provide a way to do much thinking or discovery.

This is not meant to be thinky or leaving room for discovery. it is meant to give you the feel of a cooperative FPS, and it nails that part.

I think of it like the movie Aliens, with the space marines fighting the hostile alien life form. It's like Space Hulk or Level 7 [Omega Protocol], but the real-time element brings it closer to being a simulation of the movie. So, I dig it!

yeah I understood that after watching the video . . . at that point I have plenty of video games that give that experience but I understand not everyone plays video games. Personally I don't see the point of converting shooter video game experiences into a board game.

Its kind of crazy if you backed this on Kickstarter, the price is insane and you are getting it like a year from now. Six months is pushing it but a year. Pay over a $100 now and you'll get it November 2019. Wow. Just buy a game now that you can get right away and then in a year buy this from a store. Big deal if it's not KS edition. Just mind boggling what they do these days.

You don't get the kickstarter exclusives if you don't back it now. Sometimes that's enough for people to pay in advance (was for me). While I agree, if we end up paying more for the KS then what it will cost at retail, I'll be sad. Or if they release the KS exclusives as expansions at a later date, I'll be sad.

AFAIK, the average Kickstarter game has 9-10 months wait, give or take depending on the size of the game.
