Great vlog Eddie and the brief light appearance , superb shot was worth the wait . I do like Macc Forest and Shutlingsloe, I’ve seen a few misty early mornings on the way up to Shutlingsloe with light beams piercing the Forest. Agree that Trentabank is good in Autumn but the rest of the forest does look a bit evergreeny. Also the snack van in the Trentabank car park is a treat👍😋

I’ve not roamed much of Macc Forest but I’ve enjoyed it each time. I think I’ll do a bit more scouting!

I’ve been fooled before. Shouted at the clouds, packed my gear, walked off in a huff only to have glorious sun pierce the skies and produce the goods. So, now I watch those skies like I’m expecting Messerschmitts to come flying over any second.

🤣🤣 I'm gonna clip and share that impression when I can find my phone 😂😂 that was pretty much spot on! In terms of photography all the new camera releases are just niche spec improvements and none of the updates would have any pratical use for landscape as far as I can tell.

Looks like it was worth the wait, that golden glow looks great. As regards cameras, if I just shot landscapes, I'd be happy with my old Canon 80D slr,. For birds I love my mirrorless camera, but don't intend splashing out to upgrade my R5 to the latest version anytime soon.

It does seem to me that landscapes demand a little less of the camera and more of the lens.

Insightful as usual Eddie. When I moved from Film to Digital I started with the 10D, then the 5D, then the 5DMkII. I was hooked into the vanity bug always wanting the latest. Now, I haven't bought any new equipment for 14 years The 21MP 5DMkII does me fine. I don't even own a printer anymore and only view my images on the iPAD and PC. You have to go cold turkey to break the addiction. LOL

I hear ya. To this day I maintain that my Canon 5DS was enough camera for me with regards to image. All I gained from the fancy R5 was weight reduction and some quality of life improvements for my photography. The big gain for me was its insane video quality, which I still haven't properly explored.

Hello Eddie Greetings from Adelaide. Love your natural style. Just to digress. When you do your walks are you using a different camera for Vlogging or are you using your GoPro exclusively . Please excuse my dumb questions . Are you able to demonstrate the equipment you use. Keep up the great vlogging. Your sense of humour is great, not to mention your English countryside .

Hi Ian, I seem to have a few folks wandering in from your neck of the woods! Must be all the rain we have. So, my line-up has changed over the last year but right now I mostly use the DJI Pocket 3 for Vlogging. I use the DJI Action 4 when the weather wet or the terrain is particularly rough. The Pocket 3 is great but susceptible to rain, the Action Cam is built for it. For sound, which is vital if you want people to keep listening, I use the DJI Mic 2. I would suggest that the Mic 1 is perfectly fine for this but I wanted the convenience of it connecting without a receiver to both the Pocket and Action. I’m incredibly lazy, this will probably come over in the Vlogs. After that everything is personal preference. I have a Drone, I have a 360 cam and I also have a GoPro. I do have a complaint with the GoPro 11 and that is that you have to buy the Media Mod to make anything external work with it and it bulks it out a little. That said, the picture quality is great. I occasionally show off my gear but I’m never sure if it will bore the tits off viewers as it’s probably only relevant to a handful, but I’m always ready to talk tech and the capability of it. Lord knows I’ve broken/lost enough to know what I’m talking about :)

@@EddieSkelson Hello Eddie.....Many many thanks for taking the time to reply. It is very good of you. It is only through you I have heard of a DJI pocket 3 camera. I am still learning my GoPro11 Media mod and all. However I really enjoy your " talking head " vlogs. I think it adds a personal touch and I get a laugh from them. Probably won't do down the vlogging path but want to make my GoPro's interesting even if it's only one of my sons who might enjoy my road trips. Loved your sun lit landscape pic. In the middle of winter here so can appreciate your " pudding skies " Thanks again for replying.

Enjoying your videos. I’m looking at upgrading and currently have a Canon 70D. Potentially looking at getting a Canon R7 (so believe that’s a crop sensor and mirrorless) - would you say in my situation that’s a worthy upgrade?
@EddieSkelson4 ай бұрын
I would say that’s a nice move forward. Get an adapter and still have all those lovely EF lenses available. Could I ask though, are you buying new or second hand? Because if new, I would push that money into a second hand R5 as the price will fall a little now the MK2 is ready (which you don’t need).
@chrisgc774 ай бұрын
@@EddieSkelson buying new. Although would be open to a second hand R5.
@EddieSkelson4 ай бұрын
I would seriously take a look at MPB or CEX. Both offer full warranty on their gear and I’ve used both to great advantage with my meagre funds. Even if not an R5, picking up an R7 and being able to add an RF lens to that (preferably outside of the range you currently have) I feel would pay dividends. However, it’s a big step up and I appreciate that getting something shiny is a big part of the fun!

I bought a nikon z50 a few months ago, it suits my needs and I'll just keep my money, lol

@@janandjim4442 I'm warming to the Nikon range having seen what Craig produces with his D850. The Z50 looks like a solid mirrorless but doesn't hit the video specs I need, still I expect some excellent work is going to come from your purchase 😀

Just think, if you didnt spend that time on the bench chatting, you would have missed that shot. I took that path to Shutlingsloe, its actually easy from that point on.

Me going to mirrorless nope. Staying with DSLR yes, Why, because the image quality has hit the ceiling from what my eyes can experience. I cannot see anymore jumps in technology that will entice me to spend big wads of cash. However I am going to by a second Nikon D850 to give my photography the longevity I desire. That light was worth waiting for.
