This is like those days when old dubstep heads saw their scene taken over by a new crowd doing a different thing. Not necessarily a bad thing, but the point of pain for them was that the new music using the old name didn’t even seem to have a connection to its roots or acknowledge them, and had a completely different emotional vibe.

It's a very complex conversation to have. However, there are certain documentaries that take the time to explain in great depth the history of electronic music in the UK, where jungle comes from. Breakcore is fairly new in comparison to the first subgenres, made popular by artists like Venetian Snares, goreshit, and Sewerslvt. In a bit I'll edit this with the links to different videos that explore people, places, times, and songs that help explain jungle, hardcore, and dancehall. From there you can learn some more about breakcore itself and where it stems from.

the real reason why some of the hardcore names HAVE core at the end is because they are HARDCORE GENRES. both EDM and rock. i dont know how it's possible to be that misinformed. it's common logic. how would "breakcore" even work in that sense anyway? did they even know what the "break" meant? did they bother to search it up? this is literally just like people hearing any tune way back in 2016 and saying "guys this might be __step". and then it's just bass house lmfao. like, *i shit you not* there's such thing as mecore, dariacore, corecore etc. it's outrageous...

All those genres come from a single one called Breakbeat Hardcore (from the early 90's) That's why the similarities, the thing is that the genre started to split up and began to create new waves, one of them was Jungle (focused on the breaks and complex drum patterns) And DnB was born from Jungle (the difference between DnB and Jungle is that DnB has more complex bass design and patterns than Jungle, and it has simple and repetitive breaks) and well, it's basically all the story of those genres Breakcore was born in the late 90's with the experimental of DnB and heavy, glitchy breaks

jungle is more about the groove. has tiny hints of reggae, soul and sometimes a tiny bit of techno or hip-hop in some areas. well-known for the sampled drum breaks. like amen break. (Tom & Jerry - Let Your Spirit Rise) drum and bass grew from jungle when it started getting more sparse. sampled drum breaks were slowly dropped/lowered down in favor for self-made production and elements from other EDM genres rather than the ones i listed for jungle. If you look at earlier lolicore releases from before 2010 you can see much different types of songs being made in the genre, but what makes lolicore good and, to be redundant, lolicore, there has to be an understanding of otaku culture. this may sound pretentious or irrelevant but there's so many people nowadays that get this genre wrong lol it's not just chopped breaks over anime samples.
