This is by far one of the most insightful and wise monologues in a wonderful format. I have shared this in particular because many people are weary and don't realize it. Those that are weary become depressed, suicidal or completely implode their life. Thanks Rex for making this conversation relatable to many of my dear friends.

I like this format soo much more. I relate to being Weary....I spent 34 long years in a Career that payed well....I was good at....but I didn't like. I came to the same realization.... something has to change. The Lord answered my Prayers....I have a job I Love.... with great people to work with. It doesn't pay as well....and I am 2 hours from my family until we can get our home sold during the week....but doing something for a living you like.....is light years better! Looking forward to the next installment! Thanks Daniel.... Cheers 🥃

Love the new video format. It’s like a fireside chat with a buddy, perfect setting for a whiskey pour if you ask me. Instead of being pulled in a million directions at once (today’s format of the world) I’m able to focus on a single spot. Relaxing, and a much needed change up.

In the healthcare, we call this 'Burnout Syndrome'. It is often brushed off or disregarded by the society. It is basically the exhaustion of emotional and physical state while you are continously in a high stressful environment. I'm digging the new/old format of the video. Good to just rewind your day to! Thank you. I'm getting married in September. Two of my groomsmen I have known for 12 years. So I gave each of them a bottle of this very 12 year old Whisky to commemorate our years of friendship. If there is anything that you and Rex have taught me, it is this: That there are few joys more grand than sharing a good drink with good friends. So thank you Daniel for the laughs, the knowledge, and the love of Whisk(e)y that you and Rex have "distilled" in me. So cheers to you! For all you have done for those you have known, and for those who's lives you've never known you touched. Thank you.

Having recently finished watching all the vault episodes some of the last ones for me to finish being the solo Daniel and Advent calendar episodes these episodes are noticably better. Less rambly, Daniel's more comfortable behind the camera, the camera itself is positioned to feel more personal, and there's a sense of cohesion and flow that makes for a more complete package.

Fabulous Daniel! Such a terrific format! Love your stories on life! I really enjoy this delicious Pendleton oak-barrel aged 100% Rye! Amazing butterscotch, cigar (in a good way!!), toffee, citrus! The Canadian Club 40 yo expression was amazing and of course this rye isn't at that level, not near it, but it's nice! Pendleton Rye is distilled in my Canada so that's always a plus for me! Vancouver is home! Taking stock when we hit that place where something has to change, and we know deep inside, is such an important time to look inward and make shifts. Great message Daniel! Have an awesome day!

Really digging the new format. I really needed this tonight. My parents are getting close to end of life and they were in a town between my brother and I, basically 2.5ish hours away. Going back and forth I was getting tired, but after moving them to the town I live in, I just felt weary (you helped me know what I was feeling, I didn’t have a word for it). I’m a hobby musician and I haven’t touched a guitar in so long I actually have feeling in my left hand fingertips. I’ve made some big time adjustments and settled into a schedule, even if it’s only a week old now. Today was the best day and even though it’s Tuesday ( I always call it “Monday 2: Tokyo Drift” cause it’s double bad) it was amazing. Thank you for giving me a word for what I was feeling, and sharing a bourbon across the internet, even if mine was just Turkey 101 tonight. Thanks from the bottom of my heart.

Amazing story and great words to live by. I was there myself - working 60 + hours a week - and like you say - something had to change. I retired at 63 and never looked back. We downsized- moved to a couple of acres in the country in East Texas and now instead of working myself into the ground, I’m extremely content sitting on my front porch with a glass of bourbon, a cigar, and my wife watching what God has given us. Thanks for a very inspiring message !!!
@donewithpoliticsforever3961 Жыл бұрын
We too made our move to East Texas about 12 years ago and left big cities forever. I wanted to do it while still young enough to put some trees in the ground and put down roots. My wife was reluctant at first, leaving friends, good jobs, etc. After a few months we both realized what an emotion-suck the rat race had become. We've never since regretted it. Welcome! And enjoy that back porch.

I always looked at weariness at both physical and mental "tiredness". Being bone dead tired is usually a good thing, it means you worked your arse off that day or that week or for how ever long. Weary means you've done that but didn't get the reward or satisfaction you were hoping or looking for. Love this series, both the stories and your telling of them. Your next video should be with your absolute favorite whisky, the one you always go back to and can always enjoy. I'm curious to see what that one is.

Great format and I enjoyed hearing of your travels. Your description of tired vs. weary strikes a chord with. I had a similar situation - that moment of truth when you know you need to make a change. When you decide to step forward, it's almost like walking toward the edge of a cliff. You just don't know if you'll find your way before you fall off. I'm glad you found your way.

Couple of things: * One of the first things I learned early is knowing when to quit, but it's difficult to gauge when something requires some more perseverance or if it's time to quit. And I think knowing the difference between tiredness and weariness is one good way to assess that. * For me, tiredness is when one can recover from it with just a good night's sleep, or maybe even up to a week or a month. Weariness is when one needs to stay away for at least a year or more... or forever. * This new format could now be more of a conversation between Daniel and the audience, instead of the audience just being the third-party between Daniel and Rex. (But then you would have to spend a bit more time reading and responding to comments. 😆)

Tired is an acute state because of what you did the day or few days before. You recover. Weary is a chronic state, because you are worn down and worn out because of what you've done for months or years. You don't really recover, unless you change.
