Seeing them side by side made me realize they’re actually more similar than I thought!😮 but wacking is more upright and elegant while vogue is more sassy and energetic. Maybe that’s why I prefer wacking 😂 cuz as a ballet dancer I’m pretty stiff and upright but I feel like wacking actually allows u to be that way while still feeling the music and looking cool 😗

If I’m remembering this correctly - vogueing was developed in New York where the modeling scene was big, and racking was developed in LA/West Coast area where film was big. So the two styles pull inspiration from the adjacent industry

Vogue comes from the East Coast ballroom scene, so it’s defined by having clean, sharp movements and ‘poses’ like a Vogue model would. Waacking, on the other hand, has its origins in the West Coast disco scene, so it focuses on flow and musicality. When you watch videos of how people used to dance in disco clubs back in the 70s, you’ll see the influence much clearer.

About Bayonetta, her dance style seems to be waacking in the first and second game, and vogue in the third. Although I think Bayonetta's dancer actress must use a combination of both.
@KATinBLACKАй бұрын
Yeah it feels like a combo of both. I can’t remember the dancer’s name they use mocap for Bayonetta (1&2) but she does fusion dancing of different styles. She’s amazing ❤ It’s Maiko Uchida
@plainsaltАй бұрын
As someone who used to dance Vogue, not really, wearing heels and being feminine isn't Vouging. The 5 base elements of Vogue are: hand performance, floor performance, catwalk, duckwalk, spin and dip (no, it's not a "death drop"). She does not use most of the elements that make up the style. She does catwalk but that's mainly inspired by just femininity and sex-appeal I'd say. She does pose on the floor but that isn't neccessarily Vogue, it's more like Heels I think. I also see elements of modern and RnB with some of the poses and movements. In the end it's her choreographer, Maiko Uchida's own unique style, we shouldn't forget that everyone has their own dance style, especially professionals who know how to use movements to express themselves in a clear way. Bayonetta dances in a more echanting and while Vogue is really fun, I wouldn't call it enchanting.

The funny thing is, the style was actually named after King Tut 😂 So if u think of the stereotypical “Egyptian pose” with the fingers flat together and the wrists and elbows at straight angles, then add variety and fluidity to movement between similar poses, you’ve got tutting

Wow!!! As a professional dancer since 1979 I've seen thousands of dancers and tens of styles. At 64 years young I keep my mind open to new things and I've watch videos of voguing, which mostly I don't really like, with feminine men with too exaggerated manners, curved spine, bent knees and sticking buts. I noticed the waaking videos of Asian women were impressive. but didn't expect seeing a better version of vogue and I just watched this one and I find her f...g beautiful, feminine, elegant and creative. Dancers like this make me wish being 20 years younger. This is art!

Do you ever watch "old way" or "new way" vogue? They are older styles that are quite different from "vogue fem", which is the most popular style nowadays. I agree "vogue fem" does start to look a bit stereotyped sometimes
@earth222spirit62 ай бұрын
voguing, a black lgbt+ dance style, is not done “better” by asian women. they are paying homage and they do NOT do it better than the ppl who created it. and as a dancer u should respect that. this dancer is amazing bt ur comment is both disingenuous and disrespectful to vogue and ballroom culture.

@tylermcleod25839 ай бұрын
I hope ur joking, because neither of these dance styled were "originally" done from that show. Vogueing originated in the early 1960s, same time as that show. but not originally on it at all. Vogueing originated in the club scene as a way to express identity in a world that made it illegal. Whaacking originated in the 70s inspired by "punking" another style of dance, again from the gay clubs during the disco era, again not from that show. Please don't spread false information.
@8jaime89 ай бұрын
@tylermcleod2583 LMAO. If you look up The Patty Duke Show, you’ll see that comment is akin to saying that The Brady Bunch invented punk rock. It’s totally silly, and definitely nothing to get so upset over that you start going on completely unwarranted socio-political rants. I hope this didn’t happen because you’ve been indoctrinated to see appropriation and injustice when there is absolutely none. You deserve better than that. Maybe avoid all that victim ish online. It may be a tired cliche but it’s still good advice: maybe go touch some grass. Planet Earth loves you.
