Hinged are better for compliant subjects. Remember, it's possible to make every subject "compliant".

I disagree about noncompliant subjects. Chain cuffs are for compliant subjects but for combative subjects hinged cuffs are perfect esp when applying iron wrist locks to use pain to gain compliance and effectively detain/arrest.

I don't know if it applies to what you do, but hinged ones are harder to pick than chain ones. If you cuff someone with hinged cuffs with the keyholes facing to the body, the suspect can't reach the keyholes without a lot of acrobatic talent. That's a thing to keep in mind, because the keys on handcuffs are pretty much standardized (ASP, S&W and Peerless all use the same one)... sometimes they're even the same across countries. The key of German-made CLEJUSO cuffs fits on S&W, and the S&W one opens CLEJUSO cuffs. The ones they use in France (Rivolier) have a key which doesn't look to different either. There's nothing which keeps me from just taping a key to my back or some other convinient place, and it would be a stupid move not to do so if I'd try someone which warrants an arrest.

Vipertek is a cheap generic handcuff brand. You won’t see law enforcement use those. Peerless and Smith n Wesson’s are the true authentic handcuffs that are used!

The only problem with Vipertex the bluing comes off easily and other company keys usually won't fit them .

depends on the unit. My unit lets us buy other handcuffs. They issue you one set. Buy another one so that way you have two sets of handcuffs on you.

Seriously, You don't use handcuffs without a quick release for sexual anything period. That would present so many potential safety hazards, it's not funny- not to mention what happens if you lose the key.
