quick question, why is it generally recommended to hover your hand? is it for ergonomics, range of motion, or what? i will be doing it, i just wanna know why lmao
@PipsqueakSSBM2 жыл бұрын
oh I thought I covered that LOL very silly of me to omit that. It's for ergonomical reasons, the graphic on screen shows what happens if you rest the hand and it ends up hurting your wrist after a while. Also makes it harder to move rows, hence why I think it matters extra much on the right side, you can also add foam at the edges of the controller to raise your hands up artificially if it's too hard to remember

I think Falco is a decent bit worse than fox on the box just because the nerfed wavedash (compared to a notched controller) negatively affects Falco a lot more than it does fox imo

Great video. I've been on it for a few months and I'm getting there but the issue for me is I'm really inconsistent at stuff. I keep missing my ledgedashes or oos punishes and just lots of random stuff seems really hard to execute consistently. I played a few games with you (I was B0XXNOOB). I can see the insane potential of it but I just cannot get consistent on it and it's really frustrating.
@PipsqueakSSBM2 жыл бұрын
When I played you I felt like you were playing faster than your brain allowed for. There were tons of spots where you were so focused on acting instantly that it became pretty exploitable since I could bait stuff easier and foresee a lot of stuff coming. I feel like you would error less on techskill if you were okay with slowing down the pace a bit and gradually working up to where you're at now You were playing faster than me for what felt like very little benefit, there were some things I thought were good like your whiffpunish upsmashes and fastfalls on the shffl nairs but pretty much everything else felt like you were trying to go 110% speed for no reason I don't have a scientific answer to your problem but I definitely got the feeling you'd do better if you were okay slowing it down a bit more

@@PipsqueakSSBM Appreciate the response and yeah I agree, the biggest issue im having is making the transition from GCC input muscle memory over to the b0xx inputs. It seems that on the b0xx/digital controllers you have to do the inputs slower due to the lack of analog triggers, whereas on a controller wavedashes feel almost "instant" in terms of the input. On the b0xx the timings are a bit different, so I often input my airdodge before my jump squat starts and things like that. I think that wavedashing might be a bit nerfed on digital controllers and is more natural feeling on GCC. But I'm probably speaking from inexperience here and this opinion will change as I improve. Your analysis is really accurate for the issues I'm having though lol, I have been speaking to people in the discord about these exact things. I'm trying to go too fast at the moment because I want to be able to do things like a controller, I really need to be more patient with it and let the digital muscle memory develop. I have took your advice from this video and I am not playing much Slippi anymore, instead I am grinding on Uncle Punch the various techniques and already seeing results. I also didn't learn how to float my hands so I'm doing that too but only my right hand. Do you float both hands? I'm wondering if i should try it. Thanks for responding again and good luck in your future tourneys, big fan of your calm/calculated Fox style. Take care man!
@PipsqueakSSBM2 жыл бұрын
@@blazemkds I try to float both hands but sometimes I default to resting the left hand under pressure, im unlearning that though and feel like I move better with both floating
@blazemkds2 жыл бұрын
@@PipsqueakSSBM Yeah definitely feels better, gonna try to learn to float both too, it seems to help with my inputs quite a lot and may be something that was causing those issues I mentioned. Appreciate the advice man!

I have virtually 0 information on icies nerfs / buffs and they've changed a few times as some of the early box stuff enabled some incredibly broken things So I can't tell you anything meaningful about the character :/

BoXX increases consistency of same/tight frame desyncs by minimizing travel time so things like PNJ (Pivot Nana Jump) become easier to perform and more consistent. It also makes desyncs like PNJ > Popo jump/Nana DJ > input during Popo jumpsquat easier to perform without needing to claw grip. If you input blizzard during Popo jumpsquat that set-up performs a Nana DJ blizzard which can act as an unblockable on platforms since blizzard creates a hitbox every 5 frames and does 5 frames of shield stun. You could alternatively perform an aerial and waveland with Popo (since he's already jumping) or just wavedash if you'd rather stay grounded. There are other useful angles like being able to have Nana wavedash forwards while Popo d-throws (instead of f-throw) as is used in the Cookhold infinite
@PipsqueakSSBM2 жыл бұрын
Super appreciate this response and I can tell I definitely don't know enough about the character on box to rank them at all lmao. I suspected a lot of this though since the desyncs they are capable off should be way more consistent

@@SufferDYT other than being a good starting point, why is it better? this person has already built the skillset, so 'natural feeling' doesn't matter, and the regular gcc isn't built ergonomically either.

I've been a Luigi main for 10 years on a gcc. He's just who I have the most fun with, and win the most with. I recently decided to make a fake1 (3d printed frame1 clone with a raspberry pi pico microcontroller) and oh God Luigi is so bad on box controllers. Even aside from the wavedash angles, you can't properly use down-b to recover. Because of the longer travel of keyboard switches, you can't possibly mash fast enough. It didn't take long for me to decide on going fox/falcon for box. Seems like the best set of dual mains for box players. Because fuck learning Pikachu.

maybe it's a weird question but I switched to b0xx 4~months ago and only when I play online I feel like my basics moovements suck (like you do here 5:42) it is even sometimes better when I play with a fckin nunchuk lol but in training mode those problems almost never happen is it just not enough experience, the pressure of matches or just online for any reasons I don't know
@PipsqueakSSBM2 жыл бұрын
It happens under pressure, you'll get used to it with time. Focus on not tensing your fingers while stressed and locking up your posture too much, if you relax your body even under stress you'll probably move much better

i recently realized i could run slippi on my laptop using dietmelee, so i started playing melee, and felt like using a keyb0xx as opposed to a gc controller, if you're just starting out with melee, try a keyb0xx. especially coming from other smash games on a gc controller, it's way easier to learn entirely new muscle memory than try and change the ones you already have
@ethansunday1489 Жыл бұрын
what do you mean by Keyb0xx? Is that like a actual 'thing'? or does that just mean play slippi on your pc's keyboard? I googled it but couldnt find anything :/ *Edit* I think I found it, it's a program on gitlab. Though ill be honest I don't fully understand what it does lol
