17:30 You say that about stags, but even fawns and does can be ready. To add to the "damn nature, you scary" factor, most Deer, namely white tail and other north American deer, are actually omnivores, as are horses. Deer have been observed feeding on carrion and even in recent years was found that human remains left in the woods where deer can get to them, they will eat human remains, as well as the remains of other animals, as well as chew and suck on bones to get calcium from them. This astonished many scientists and wasn't actually observed and documented until at a body farm, where they do research on decay of remains to document, was recording a donated body in a wilderness setting, and a deer was observed feeding on the remains, and helped scientists finally identify "mystery" marks left on bones found that didn't line up to other animal teeth marks. Basically, deer and horses will and can live of of meat, horses more than deer thanks to horses only having one stomach, but deer need the protine to grow muscles, and the bones to get calcium to grow their antlers each season, and they don't get it from the ground, but instead from dead animals where they can get it, including scavenging the kills of other predators, such as eating the remains of other deer after wolves or coyotes have their way with them, or even hunt small animals like rabbits, snakes, and birds to get their needs.
